I’m wondering how he brought Mike down in the first place

I suppose we don't know the size of the suspect and he could have hit him with the butt end of an axe from behind .

I'm thinking because the suspect was involved with garda and department of justice previous to Mike's murder that an argument ensued or was brewing as prehap Mike asked the man to leave his land as he didn't want to be having someone that was in trouble with the law on his farm . This could have caused resentment from the perpetrator as 6 years is a long time to be living rent free in a property and not many would be willing to easily let go of that opportunity . I would imagine as Mike was known to be kind and generous there was possibly other perks with that such as the odd bottle of stout , food and possibly a few Bob for repairing vehicles and helping out at busy times .

All speculation on my behalf but it does make for a boiling over of anger situation if this happened to be the case . This I gather is why garda initially stated it could have been an accidental killing imo

Not what I was expecting. It's all very strange indeed. It's starting to read like one of those murder mystery novels where the "suspect" is a colourful character who now wants all the attention and the "victim" is forgotten about

I genuinely hope garda are not wasting resources and their suspicion of this being a murder are valid .

If they didn't search that smaller tank thoroughly and it turns out that michael happened to fall in and this was an accident they have created a lot of legal and personal problems.

The only reason I say this is irish garda rarely like to admit mistakes were made and there is numerous examples of cases were these errors have been made , Tina Satchwell’s for example of a recent one .And of course Sophie in Cork

It has been reported that the body could not have been dismembered by the agitator in the slurry tank, had it fallen in whole. I guess farmers would know this as they would know they can't put animal carcasses in there, for example.

I do have questions about how that tank was previously searched, though. It was apparently drained but not cleared out of what I assume must be quite thick matter, and this material was poked through with sticks, when they thought they were looking for a whole body. BUT - they are now examining the slats for chainsaw marks. So if these slats are difficult to remove, to the extent that the body parts were pushed through them, then it sounds like that initial search was conducted by poking the poles through the slats? So had the potential to miss something, even if they were looking for a whole body at that time.

This is where msm reports are terrible at consistency. Some reports say large tank drained completely small one only half or not at all. So it hard yo know . Even down to the suspect early reports was he was in his 60s then he was in his 50s .

There are reports of a falling out between the American and Mike in weeks prior to Mike's death . But although reported in msm, based on the confusing reports on the slurry tanks . Is this fact or local rumour

I do think the suspect is coming across as a weirdo and when asked if Mike was a good man , he refrained from giving a yes answer which tells me he may be harbouring ill will or resentment still if he is in fact the murderer

I know family and friends of any deceased person tend to place them on a pedestal and view the loved one as a Saint so I really can't tell what type of person Mike was in reality to absolutely everybody But given Mike's generosity towards this man . You would expect a resounding yes to the question. He wad living rent free in accommodation provided by Mike.

My next question would be why the American left behind as he alleges a family ,a house and a job to be homeless in ireland . What was he running from to end up in a rural backwater area of kerry .

I'm starting to see why garda have their sights set on the suspect as a likely perpetrator. If the suspect was given a deportation notice this means that there is a window of a few weeks to appeal the decision before a deportation order is given .

The deportation notice I imagine would come with a letter outlining why asylum is rejected and prehaps what needs to be achieved in order for the application to be successful.

I imagine questions on application might be . Have you found work ? What ties have you made in this country ? Do you have friends , family etc in this country .

Mike may have gave a reference that wasn't deemed good enough in the application or was refusing to help at all hence the falling out in the weeks previously. Maybe he was lioking for mike to say he would financially support him or sponsor his stay and Mike said no ,so
the suspect flew into a rage and killed him .

I would imagine this is the gardas line of thought . I must have a look up the requirements for an asylum process application to be successful and what the grounds of appeal would be in ireland and post here

Was he looking for Mike to sign the property he was living in over to him or prehaps a legal contract stating he lived and worked on the farm .

This guy was hiding from something if he was desperate enough to leave behind a home , family etc as he alleges . Was he angry enough to kill if Mike was refusing to help him further . Was he asking Mike to ask his politician friends to help and have a word on his behalf to the department of justice.

I can definitely see a motive if this were true and hence the weird answer to the question, Do you think Mike was a good person

It's interesting because there are other routes to immigration apart from asylum/international protection. Kelley really doesn't want to go back to the US for whatever reason, but he also hasn't pursued the type of job where you could make yourself indispensible enough for an employer to want to sponsor you for immigration status.

A farm like MG's probably couldn't support a fulltime wage for a farm hand year round but even if MG had been willing to sponsor Kelley in some way I doubt it would have sufficed for immigration purposes. It usually has to be a job that the employer couldn't fill with an Irish or EU citizen. There are plenty of US citizens working in the pharma and tech industries in Ireland. As a marine, I'm sure he has some, ah, specialist skills, but perhaps he was trying to go off grid and avoid contact with the Dept of Justice, but they tracked him down? Just speculation...

Maybe, the farm hand had creepy visitors from his homeland from time to time and Michael didn't like these men and suspected them of being criminal perhaps.
Do we know, whether the many weapons, which were found, belonged to MG? Or was it a depot of someone other possibly, who hid the weapons on Michael's property?

Maybe he bought phone credit because someone cut his landline wires. Or perhaps a stranger showed up at his house and asked to borrow a phone and he used all of his minutes/data up. Also, being ex-military would give a killer the confidence to keep sanitized weapons lying around because it wouldn't raise suspicion, alone.
