Are you sure? I would have thought that if she was convicted all those monies would be caught up in the legislation which precludes criminals from profitting from their crimes?
Casey is not a criminal. She has not been convicted.

Why would you doubt that it was Larry Garrison? Garrison is the only logical person - he knows both LP and Baez, LP has zero money - he doesn't have 50K of his own personal money to provide that bond.
You make it sound like it was yesterday. Wasn't that a long time ago?! While I realize that people love to drag up his mayoral election and everything else...providing the links is essential. Do you have those to back up what you are stating?LP's "personal accounts" are a matter of public record. He just served 18 months in a federal prison for tax evasion, last year the IRS seized his last piece of investment property in Sac. and if he had 50K the IRS would have seized that too. There's a tax lien on everything he owns. All this came out when he was running for mayor of Sac. which he does just about every mayoral election.
He's been shopping around a bounty hunter show for several years now, his show on NatGeo was canceled after three episodes.
Casey Anthony case: State attorney's office slams WFTV's Baez report
I'm not the only one who had a problem with reporter Mary Nguyen's story. So did Randy Means, a spokesman for the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office.
His comments were distributed to reporters at WFTV, WESH-Channel 2, WKMG-Channel 6 and the Sentinel:
"My Friday conversation with Mary from Channel 9 was very simple. I told her that we also have heard from media employees that questions [have] arisen as to Defendant Anthony's counsel. I wouldn't specify what question. I informed the reporter that it is the court's responsibility to insure a fair trial for the accused and if any improprieties actually took place by either side, defense or state, both the Florida Bar and the Courts are venues that would hear the complaints. If her story stated anything other than that, it was a creation of a futile mind and questionable ethics."

Why would the Sentinel let this information out by way of blog rather than on the front page? Something isn't right here....
Yes, I wondered the same thing.

This is the WFTV press report referred to. I have to wonder where the blogger obtained their information because I don't notice it anywhere where it was supposedly distributed.

Jose Baez's spokesperson said Baez has not made any contingent deals. He said Baez is involved with coordinating licensing fees and deals with various production companies, but does not profit on those matters.

Entertainment Deals Could Be Paying For Casey's Defense
Monday, January 19, 2009 updated: 3:54 pm EST January 20, 2009
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News uncovered bold new allegations that secret entertainment deals could be helping to pay for Casey Anthony's defense. Sources tell Eyewitness News that someone complained to the State Attorney's Office about the funding Jose Baez is using toward Casey's defense.
Those sources told WFTV reporter Mary Nguyen the funding could be considered a major conflict of interest. Eyewitness News sources said the judge knows there's a concern about Baez's defense fund. He could decide it's baseless, but if he determines Baez did something wrong he could remove him from the case.
Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, has repeatedly avoided all questions about who is paying for his services, but sources told Eyewitness News the State Attorney's Office received at least one complaint, a complaint that Baez may have made a contingent deal with entertainment interests that means he gets paid based on the outcome of the case, which is banned by the Florida Bar.
Eyewitness News does know the defense has already received around $200,000, but the terms were unclear.
"Because of the nature of this case and, creatively, the abundance of the rumors of the source of the attorney fees," WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer told Eyewitness News (watch full interview). "This court will probably make an inquiry that they'll err on the side of caution."
It's not clear how the judge will handle it. Sheaffer said the judge will likely look into Baez's funding source to make sure there is no conflict of interest and to prevent an appeal.
"It is to make sure the lawyer is representing the client's best interest and not considering the interest of who's paying the attorney's fee," Sheaffer said.
A spokesperson for the State Attorney's Office said the state is aware of the allegations. Prosecutors want to know who is paying his fees and how much money has been spent. The State Attorney's Office spokesperson also said the court is aware of the complaints and it will be up to judge to decide how to handle it.
Jose Baez's spokesperson said Baez has not made any contingent deals. He said Baez is involved with coordinating licensing fees and deals with various production companies, but does not profit on those matters.

Same thing I was thinking! I doubt Mary stopped at one.In Mary N's article, I note use of the plural 'sources' vs. source. So I am not interpreting it as if a conversation with Randy Means as the only information for the article. Having had a conversation Friday with Randy, Mary N may very well have likely followed up with further source/s.

It will be interesting to follow this article. If I were Mary...I would be taking offense at the comments on the blog about being of a futile mind and questionable ethics!! Can't wait to see what she fires back with now.
