JWG, that is a tough question. I did not realize how big it had grown. I voted yes, time to take it down. My concern, like a few other member's have mentioned, is for the young children passing by it everyday. Maybe having a 4 year old Grandson, I can just hear him say....."so that is where the bad person killed that little girl.....". I am thinking of the children that pass it everyday, and the Parents having to explain it everyday. We are grownups, and many of US have a hard time swallowing this. Can't imagine what goes through a childs mind. Good topic. My guess is there is going to be alot of mixed emotions.

I think after the one year anniversary of Caylee's death, it might be time.

No, in fact earlier I posted on another thread that the land should be purchased or donated for a permanent memorial to Caylee- perhaps a park with benches and a playground, or a park, provided that is that the land is cleared of swamps and snakes. Caylee deserves a permanent memorial for the life that was cut way too short. She never got a chance to really live.

I think this is a great idea. It is funny that this has been brought up. I was in Florida this past weekend, very long drive from North Carolina to Disney World. I am guilty of going by the memorial and I took pictures and even left flowers.... It was closure for me and my family. I was shocked to actually see how close she was to the A's home. It was very eye opening, google map does not prepare you for it. I think a PERMANENT MEMORIAL as a park is a wonderful idea.

I have had such a bad day with my little baby (my dog) being sick (all over the house) and I'm in such a bad mood (I hope this is the reason and I'm not just mean)...but my first thought when I read that poll was...YES it should be kept up but in the A's front yard and they should have to look at it every day for the rest of their lives. I truly believe that if they would have pulled their heads out of their a@@es, Caylee would be alive today....and maybe their daughter would have run away never to be seen again.

Sorry...just venting....

To a point, I can understand how you feel....hope your day gets better. I have those kind of days too. Sometimes the resentment toward the A's just gets so overwhelming. I haven't voted yet as I still don't know how I feel about the memorial coming down. After reading everyone's post, I can relate to all of them.

I don't think it should have been up for more than a week. I think it's appalling that so many young children have to look at it every single day.

What exactly do you find appalling about it???? Did Casey think of Caylee when she dumped her there, did she think of how appalling that is? No... This world is filled with awful and horrible people, do we erase the memories of the ones that were lost at the hands of these monsters? No.....
I do understand it is near a school so of course something else should be done in her memory.

I understand that Caylee is not the only baby in the world that has ever been murdered..... However What happened to her brought a lot of recognition to missing children as well as many other things, Caylee became the voice for missing children and therefore, I feel if this memorial is going to be taken down some type of permanent memorial should be put up. Personally I am ready, I know we should all move on, but just like so many I have invested so many emotions, and time into this. It is probably a good thing but I am just not ready.

I can't believe anyone is even suggesting this! I think the memorial needs to stay....at least until after the trial is over. No wonder the defense thinks they can get Casey Anthony off on this charge. With time people are forgetting and losing interest of the major facts in this case. A memorial on the side of the road is where this mother dumped her own daughter like trash in triple bags then stuck a heart sticker over the duct tape on the mouth of this precious little girl that will never go to kindergarten, never have a favorite teacher, never make a best friend for life, never have a first kiss, never fall head over heels in love, never cry over a brokenheart, never look at the moon with JoJo again.....I mean....it hasn't even been 6 months since her little skeleton was discovered. Can't we give her a little more time to be remembered?

I have one more thing to say about this. Where I live they passed a law to have all roadside crosses removed, you know like if someone has a wreck and is killed or hit and killed they usually put up a cross. The law was passed to remove all roadside crosses, they claimed it was distracting to drivers, vandalisim of private property, and some other things. I dont see it that way. I think that is very stupid to be quiet honest, when you are driving down the road and you see across where someone was killed, it reminds me to slow down check my seat belt, and make sure my passangers are secure. Same as Caylees memorial, it seems it would stand as a reminder to people of missing children, bring awareness to crimes such as murder as well as so many other things. I just dont think it should be taken down.

I think it should come down she will always be remembered by those people that cared
enough to make sure that she was found.

According to this article, the land on which the memorial sits is up for sale. As the article states, it may be difficult for the owner to sell it due to the fact that it's tied to the death of an innocent child.

I voted that the memorial should come down for many reasons. The children of the nearby elementary school have a grim reminder every day of what happened at that site.

I strongly feel that Caylee deserves a permanent memorial site, and I think it would be most fitting to have a memorial flower garden with a bronze marker dedicating the garden as Caylee's Garden in a public park, adjacent to a children's playground.

A permanent memorial site such as this could be easily achieved if the local city council set aside a small piece of land in a park and set up a public memorial fund. A local garden club could donate time to build the garden under the direction of a landscape architect. A bronze marker with Caylee's name and birth/death data could be made by a local artist.

I find it appalling that schoolchildren have to look at it day in and day out.

I'm really not sure what Casey not finding her acts appalling has anything to do with this topic so Im not sure why you mentioned it.

And no, I would imagine many people dont erase memories of victims but I hardly see how removing a memorial could erase anything.

I sure am not forgetting about Caylee. I think about her case every day. It was horrific. But I'm just not sure what having that memorial right there is doing for her or any other children, and it certainly isn't helping the neighborhood or the land owner, none of whom had anything to do with what happened.

I agree! I think that memorial was fine at the time. But, lets not memorilize her life where she was DUMPED like trash to rot. I think a spot should be found full of light and SUNSHINE and beauty to reflect her short sweet life. Perhaps a park could be renamed or a library or a wing of a childrens hospital! Any more ideas?:)

This is why I think a memorial garden named Caylee's Garden, in a public park, near a children's playgound would be more appropriate. Celebrating Caylee's life instead of the place where her remains were found. I'm sure a playground in the park is something Caylee enjoyed.

My first concern is with the school children...the sooner it's gone, the sooner their own childhoods can be restored.

I love the idea of the Magnolia tree, that would be lovely, tranquil, subtle, and provide a wonderful place of reflection for those who are compelled to visit the area because of Caylee.

However, if I were Caylee THAT spot would be the last place on earth I'd want to be associated with. jmo

Yes,I think it's time.

I said no purely for selfish reasons...I'm going to Orlando in May, and planned to visit Caylee's memorial :)

It may not have to be taken down if Padilla buys the land and puts up some type of permanent memorial to Caylee on it.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Celebrity Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla is interested in purchasing the land up for sale where the remains of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony were discovered in December.
The asking price for the land is almost $90,000. Last year, Padilla put up $500,000 to get Caylee's mother, Casey, out of jail.

I like padilla but it seems odd to me he would want to buy this property.
