I, personally, would like for it to remain, at least until casey's trial is over. JMO

ITA, though if the property owner decided otherwise for whatever reason, I'd completely understand.

This is why I think a memorial garden named Caylee's Garden, in a public park, near a children's playgound would be more appropriate. Celebrating Caylee's life instead of the place where her remains were found. I'm sure a playground in the park is something Caylee enjoyed.

This is an idea that I love. I hope someone does this - sure would be nice of the Anthony's could use some of that Caylee Is Missing trust fund money to do this, wouldn't it???

It may not have to be taken down if Padilla buys the land and puts up some type of permanent memorial to Caylee on it.

http://www.myfoxorlando.com/dpp/news/local/032009padilla_interested_in_land

ORLANDO, Fla. - Celebrity Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla is interested in purchasing the land up for sale where the remains of 2-year-old Caylee Anthony were discovered in December.
The asking price for the land is almost $90,000. Last year, Padilla put up $500,000 to get Caylee's mother, Casey, out of jail.

This warmed my heart... hope he does and treats it with dignity. I have faith in this move, do it Leonard!

Me too! I think that LP would be the right person to do this, too. No matter what crazy theories he's had along the way, his heart has always been in helping Caylee, and this would be a wonderful way to memorialize her life. Those in support of him doing this should write him. Anyone have his contact info handy?

LP was just on the Nancy Grace show saying that he's interested in purchasing the land where Caylee's body was found.

He said he would make a park there in Caylee's memory & then donate the land to County

Mark K. thinks the "Park is a horrible Idea

I personally think LP is doing this just to get more publicity

I really appreciated Mark K.'s comments tonight on NG. It was very interesting to me to hear his and his wife's feelings and views on the subject of memorials. I've spouted off my own opinions, which mean nothing, but to hear it from someone relevant was facinasting to me.

In addition, prolly will regret this post...JMHO, as stated before I don't much like memorials and it was so very interesting to me to hear Mark K say tonight that him and his wife find the plot of land their daughter's body was found on to be a site of horror for them and they do not want or support in any way shape or fashion, a memorial for their daughter on this god-forsaken site. ITA!
And ESPECIALLY given the fact that Caylee died by means murder from her own mother, what PURPOSE would a "memorial" park or playground serve? What message would that send to community children? Thank God our parents aren't so crazy as to Murder us? I mean, really....

Absolutely its time! Maybe a small cross placed there is definitely acceptable but we all have to 'let go' of this child as she is long gone from this earth. It is not fair for the neighbors nor the children that see it daily in that area.

I don't live there but gosh, my heart would be crushed each day if I had to drive by it. Then it would turn to frustration, then anger.... that its still there for little children to see & be reminded of their own 'mortality', that I'm fighting traffic and strangers want to take a picture of where a child was murdered.

I think sites like this are sacred and should be left 'at peace'. No need to bring anymore attention to it.

ITA! The 2 "memorial" sites that I have to drive past are both sites where teenagers died (from their own poor driving choices/mistakes). Not from some horrible tragedy not of their own making. So WHAT purpose does this serve the public at large? Frankly, I hate these two roadway memorial sites, they remind me that I have young adult children who could die suddenly and tragically. What purpose does this reminder serve? It simply hurts my heart. I already know how precious life is and let my children know I love them daily...and what purpose does this serve for the parents of these deceased children? I don't get it.

Huge hugs to you! You've done a great job raising a confident young lady who knows scars don't define a person. Well, done Mom!

Thank you for your kind words!

Back on topic, relatedly, my daughter refuses to pass by the site of her accident, and the one time I took her past it (without thinking) she began hyperventalating and freaking out. Yelling at me...This proves to me that if she had died there, and I put up a memorial and memorialized the site of her DEATH, she would have been rolling over in her grave! We should remember the GOOD times with our loved ones. Celebrate at places that they loved, not the site where they died! JMHO.

More publicity, yes. He already got a spot on NG last night with this announcement after having not been on her show for weeks. I hope that the homeowners association can block his purchase of the parcel. Can they? Does anybody know?

I have to agree with MarcK. Why would anyone want to memorialize the place a dead child was dumped? I love Leila's idea of a memorial flower garden with a bronze marker in a public park for Caylee.

While I do see the need for people to have an area to place flowers or stuffed animals when the child is found, it doesn't need to go on forever. I'm sure it is a constant reminder to the children in that area that a child's dead body was discovered there.

This is an emotional issue with good points from people on all sides.

The points I think of are - Caylee did not die at the wooded spot on Suburban Dr. - she most likely died in the Anthony home - but the Anthonys have no trouble continuing to live there.

Caylee was thrown out like trash on Suburban Dr., and I see efforts to transform the spot from a dump site into a beautiful area for children to play, in memory of a beautiful young life, as a good thing. I believe that Padilla's intentions are honorable. He personally really cared for Caylee and wanted desperately to find her. I believe he wants to see something good come out of such a horrible event.

Somebody is going to buy the property and do something with it .... why not let it be something for the community in this world that has embraced Caylee and want to express their love for her in some tangible way.

I believe that Mark Klaas and NG and other crime victims are in a different category than Casey Anthony or even the Anthony family. I personally do not care if the Anthonys (any of them) have a problem with anything that is done at the site where Caylee's remains were found (in spite of all their efforts to prevent her from being found). IMO

The email on Padilla's bus card is [email protected]

I agree that the children attending school across the street and passing by the area each day on their school bus can't be a healthy or a good thing. I wonder of the kids, who at the elementary school age can't fully understand what is going on, must drive by and think, " humm...I sure wish I had that stuffed animal or that one or that balloon" or the like.

I think LP's intentions are good. But I think moreso, he would revel in the idea of making a big doo ha ha of a memorial site that CA would have to if not see everyday, KNOW was right around the corner from her house. He would want her to see a daily reminder of what her monster daughter did to that poor baby. I think if he could buy the house across the street from theirs, he would in a heartbeat and put a bill board in the lawn facing their home.
