I want to believe that she will get hard time or the DP, but there are a few way bigger and more hardcore instances where we have given people a slap on the wrist.
so now that there is plea talk on the check charges, do any of you think there may be more to talk about and perhaps a plea with regards to the DP and Life? I think there are problems with the charges as they stand and the aggravating factors. So,I am still unconvinced that the DP is appropriate in this case and have had in the back of my head that it is only out there as a bargaining chip.
Remember, life in Florida means life and KC just may not be able to get herself to plead guilty. Perhaps taking her chances of getting a LIO conviction at trial may be a way to avoid a life sentence and the death penalty.
Current thoughts on a murder plea?
Also in the article thatwas linked above................
Casey Anthonys death penalty attorney, who is an expert on death penalty cases, admitted on national television that she doubts a jury will clear Casey of her daughter's murder. Anthony's defense attorney went on a morning show again Thursday morning, talking about how the amount of publicity will prevent Casey from getting a fair trial.I'm scared for my client. I'm afraid that the fact that she's been pilloried in the press.
If AL is so concerned about her client's life, wouldn't it be better for the defense to ask for a plea in the murder case, pleading guilty in exchange for taking the death penalty off the table, and accepting LWOP?
I know that in the beginning the state offered a plea deal, but that plea had a time limit and JB let that time limit expire without seriously addressing it.

No argument from me.I think Marspiter put it best in the Check Plea thread; KC is just not the type of person to back down from a story once she has committed to it. Just as she took the detectives to her "office" at Universal, she is going to hold out until she sees no other way out.
In my opinion, I don't think she believes she is completely backed into the corner yet, and she won't listen to JB, AL or anyone else regarding a deal. Perhaps right after the jury delivers the verdict she will want that do-over...
Yes it would. Her Behavior over the past year has more than earned her a lengthy prison term imo. The amount of money and resources wasted alone is appalling - thousands upon thousands of people including LE were searching for her child while she did nothing - how many kids may have been helped during that time? Also, the innocent people who have been dragged through the mud including the grunds, her friends, LE, prosecutors and texas equusearch, and the searchers is disgusting as well. How many people will pass on searching for a missing child now - since the defense wants records of all the searchers (they may not want their private lives made public).
Last but not least, the wonderful precedent being set in this case that if you find a body, just keep quiet about it, or you will become a scapegoat for the defense and be accused of murder have your life investigated for the world to see. Just my opinion, but nothing is too bad for Casey at this point. She had a chance to do the right and honest thing if she is innocent but she chose not to.
This may not seem so nice of me, especially considering I am not a resident of Orange County, and it is not my tax money that will pay for all of this..
But..
I will be extremely disappointed if Casey is offered a plea. I want to see this go to court. I think that taking this to court, and having her face her family, ex-friends, and professionals who are much, much smarter than her will be somewhat more of a punishment than serving life in prison. I think it is important that Casey see's face to face what she has done to so many people in her life..It is important that every lie be thrown back into her face... It is important that George and Cindy see what their daughter has done, it is important that other parents are given the opportunity to learn the warning signs in their children...
Good question. I would also like to see where she said she"doubts a jury will clear KC of her daughters murder"I am sorry, I read the whole transcript and I don't see it where she says or admits she doubts a jury will clear Kc of her daughters murder. I saw the wftv news story, but was wondering where it was actually admitted or said. I think this is just something that wftv is making up. Do you have a link to an actual transcript of her admitting this? thanks

As for the murder trial I think AL would be ecstatic to take a plea for the defense. She would place it in her cap as a "win", and it would allow her more time to promote her book as well as give her time to start her new book about this case.
I however just don't see Casey doing it. This is the girl that walked down the hallway of Universal to take detectives to her "office". That and I think the only plea the state would give her is to take the DP off the table, and offer her life instead. Nope I see Casey wanting to take this one all the way to the end. Figuratively and literally.
The problem is that is not a link to AL actually saying that. This is on the link provided below:
CASEY'S ATTORNEY: "I'M SCARED FOR MY CLIENT”

“I'm scared for my client. I'm afraid that the fact that she's been pilloried in the press. I would liken this Meredith, to the Salem witch trials,” Lyon told Meredith Viera on the Today Show.

I also watched the Today Show that Lyons was on and I do not have a copy of the transcript however I do know that Lyons did in fact say those words.

Two things to think about (and I'm guilty of not having read the entire thread yet):
1) The judge doesn't necessarily have to accept a plea agreement.
2) Denial is strong, and CA and GA are the He-men of the denial world. Even if Casey took a plea, they won't necessarily "see what their daughter has done."
My son's biological father killed my son, and eventually was offered a plea agreement, which he accepted. However, the judge chose not to accept the plea and gave him the maximum sentence (which he absolutely deserved, and then some). Even after that his mother still didn't come out of denial...I highly doubt she's even come out of denial.
I can totally see Casey feeding them some big story about how she had to take the deal or something....blame it on someone else, I guess. "Zanny forced me to take the plea deal, wahhhh!"
