Is there any possibility of a Plea Deal on the Murder Charges?

Do you think this case will end in a plea agreement?

I can't bring myself to believe she'd fabricate to get a scoop (hasn't been her style in this case or others I've seen her report). I think she just made an honest mistake.

yes, me too - probably got a tweet while she was on her way - simple mistake.

WFTV reporter Kathi Belich was told that the whole thing could have been avoided Monday because there was discussion of a possible plea deal, but Casey said no. She would have had to admit to every detail of Caylee's murder.

Hold up here....

Isn't it possible that this statement is being completely misconstrued....????

Isn't it possible that THIS portion of the statement...

because there was discussion of a possible plea deal, but Casey said no.

...was referring to the supposed offer by SA before Caylee's remains were found?

This would change the meaning of the above paragraph...

WFTV reporter Kathi Belich was told that the whole thing could have been avoided Monday because there was discussion of a possible plea deal back in 2008, but Casey said no. She would have had to admit to every detail of Caylee's murder.

BOLD UNDERLINED words are MY INSERTION...

Changes the whole "rumor" doesn't it?

Oh Good Grief - wildfire on the threads - now that's pretty funny!!!!:great:

Kathi!!! Our Nerves!!! A little respect here!!!

:bigfight: :skip: :skip: :skip: :skip:

Based upon my understanding of the scenario back then I must respectfully disagree.

All that I understood was offered prior to the finding of Caylee's remains was "limited use immunity" if ICA told the State where she disposed of Caylee's remains.

This was not a plea bargain and as I understand the SA made clear that this was not a plea bargain.

Whilst I am unsure why this plea was offered (or more importantly why anyone would think that ICA might accept the deal) it related solely to ICA providing the location of the remains (or where she left the remains) in exchange for the SA not using this information against her. This was not a plea bargain and would not have resolved matters at all.

Why would anyone looking a life w/o parole take plea deal? Do you all think prison cake walk and fun? I think after you spend a few years in prison and see the only way you leaving is in a body bag , the Death Penalty will seem like it is like paradise. I mean come on living every single day of your life eating nasty food, in a nasty living area, with nasty people is the closest thing to hell on earth. Then knowing you will probably suffer from an illness later on after years of this..... makes an injection of pentobarbital a much easier option to go through. I could understand the justice of the death penalty if you make the guilty party suffer the same way of the victim, but since that's not the case than what's the point? Your actually costing tax payers at-least an extra million dollars on a death penalty case believe it or not.

Sociopaths actually do well in prison in many cases. Look at Scott Peterson for example. Casey even said it's the first time she's been "independent".

My take is that it was a standard type question by the judge, on if she still wants to PLEAD not guilty. I truly don't think there is any kind of plea deal on the table by the state, so really a moot point. But we must try to remember that in this information age, there are speedy tweets coming in and "mistruths" are spread quickly, and sometimes even reporters are subject to what is being said and have to respond on what they are getting at the moment.

Sort of an emotional few days with this case finally getting under way.
Can't help but wonder now if ica is going to take the stand per BC's words(I know, more media fodder) and once again no plea, then make this grandious statement and REALLY tell the truth? Or maybe I should say another good facsmile of the truth? I really don't care now because so many lies have been told and you just cannot believe anything she or her family say. Know one thing, this case is going to go down in history as one of the more bizarre cases anyone has seen for a very long time.

I think BC knows what he is saying, I thought ICA should never take the stand, but in order for certain things the defense wants to introduce, it would take ICA being put on the stand, it is a very sticky and questionable legal maneuver for the defense.

Yes, we need a link please.

I know that HHJP asked her if she was going to plea and she said, "No."

But we don't know anything else without a link explaining the details.

Also keep in mind....the above statement is probably standard at the beginning of ALL jury selection...

Remember, KC also had the option to CHANGE her plea at the beginning of today's hearing....NOT that I think there was a chance in Hades that she was going to...but I think HHJP HAS to ask....

"Plea" does not automatically refer to "plea DEAL".....

As of right now, her "plea" is innocent..

OK. I have no expectation that this contribution will put out any speculative wildfires, but here goes.

It is my understanding that the defendant was asked this morning if she was going to enter a plea.

It is my understanding that ICA said no, she was not going to enter a plea.

It is my understanding that this series of questions is not unusual before jury selection in trials.

It is my understanding that ICA was not OFFERED a plea today. She was asked if she wished to enter a plea and she said no. Nope, nohow, no way. ICA wants this to go to trial.

My understanding is the same as yours. I also believe it is a standard formality before jury selection in the event the defendant does want to enter a guilty plea, for example, which would negate the need for a trial and therefore a jury. There's a vast difference between a "plea deal" and entering a plea. MOO

I think it comes down to that if the defense wants to introduce their clients side, they may have to call her to the stand, and they may not want to do that because that opens her up to prosecution questioning and we have already seen a few years of lies from her, so how believable will she ever be on the witness stand? But what we have to remember is that it is not up to us to judge that, all of us who have worked hard thru all of this, but up to the jury, and hopefully this great justice system we have will work, and there will never be a point in question for appeal, even tho we all know there will be.

Yes, I can see her getting herself a few girlfriends and ending up quite happy in there, bit like Myra Hindley or others who have made their own life on the inside.

No... that's my understanding too, but I just wanted to throw my joke out there cause it made me chuckle but maybe I'm just amusing myself. lol (lots of luck CM)
