Is there any possibility of a Plea Deal on the Murder Charges?

Do you think this case will end in a plea agreement?

Doesn't the prosecution have to agree to the plea?? I don't see them agreeing to anything less than murder 1. They might let her do LWOP but nothing less than that.

Please, I don't want a LWOP, I want the DP, actually (and this is how cruel I really am,) I would like to see her die with duct tape over her mouth and nose and placed in a swamp just like her sweet little daughter.

I have the Carole King song in my head "It's Too Late" for some reason...

She can change her plea at any time. The "bargain" part has to be something the SA is agreeable to.

IMHO the DT would have to present a plea agreement to the SA. The SA is, at their discretion, to accept it or not. At this point in the case, I think the plea would be to save her from the death penalty. Being this far into the case, what does the SA have to lose? I do not feel they are losing this case in any way - so why would they accept a plea (unless it's LWOP).

I almost feel it would be easier for the SA to accept LWOP and save us, the family, and the witnesses all types of heartache. Anything less I really can't justify.

My Opinion Only - Please and Thank You.

She would have to confess entirely to something that the State believes and accepts as truth. That I do not see happening.

Absolutely! If the State doesn't agree to a plea bargain, which in this case I don't believe they would, the trial would then proceed to the sentencing phase and she could still receive the DP.

I'm new here...I'm a retired attorney...but with little criminal trial experience (and I'm anti-DP). However, from what I've seen her defense is not looking well, at all/

Watching this trial brings me back to law school, 1987-1990. Rules of Evidence, criminal procedure, building up a foundation, and all that.

And in my professional life I was a clinical instructor for a large U. law school. Baez would have got failing marks from me.

Could you imagine ICA's reaction if she tried to plea now and the State said, "Naw..."?

BTW, I think the State will only accept a plea IF she admits EVERYTHING in court---at least the willful application of the tape, the decomp in the car, and disposal of the body. They may not require her to admit to any chloroform use---but they WOULD require her to say out loud that she applied that tape. IMO.

I do doubt though that she will ever plea, I think she will hold out to the bitter end and hope for appeals. She's never had a problem wasting everyone's time before.

Hi all,
New to websleuths. I have been thinking all along that Casey needs to make a plea deal quick, because the evidence is really stacked against her.

:welcome:

So, being anti-DP how do you feel about the evidence that has been presented thus far and what do you think the outcome will be? I ask because I think a lot of anti-DP persons have done a 180 with this case. Personally, I think she deserves to die but I'd be satisfied with LWOP. TIA

From what I understand..JB did not do well at all in Law School!!

She won't. She's likely to be found guilty at this point. SWOP or DP. If she really wants to get out of DP she might think about it but I think she's already understanding just how long and far her appeals can take her. She's got no interest at this point imo. If she'd considered a plea prior to Caylee being found, her situation could have been quite different but she didn't. Good job Baez!

The only plea she can make at this time is to change innocent to guilty and proceed to sentencing.

For the SA, this is a death penalty case. They will settle for nothing less at this point.

It is a case of too little, too late.

100 percenteo! Hope you are right. What she did to her darling little daughter cannot be challenged by how bad they would feel for GA/CA/LA.

TS for them. Isn't is REALLY ALL ABOUT CAYLEE, NOT ABOUT THE ABOVED NAMED?

If she had killed other people and had something to "offer" for a plea , she might be able to negotiate something. Here, she doesn't have much to offer the State that they don't know. In fact, she has overwhelmingly NOTHNG to offer them. NILCH. No plea available at this point. So now, expect the drama to come on. She has nothing to lose. He might even kick her out of the courtroom. So what? She's gonna' go into FULL MODE.

ETA - I hope that if she puts on any shananigans that JP stops it in its trackes and kicks her sorry azz to the curb (er viewing room).

nope.

Not for the inmate OR for her DT, lol.

Too little, too late is right! Three years later and this <modsnip> is saying it was an accident and that the nanny didn't exist? Ah. OK Jose. We all understand now.

No, I don't. She has nothing to offer the Prosecution at this point.

I said this earlier today, I really think that it would be career suicide for those in elected offices. The money has already been spent. The tax payers do not want any kind of deal for her now. It wouldn't be wise to offer her any type of break at this point.

I say this not really knowing what offices are elected down there, but all of the ones that would have any real power here are elected and we wouldn't allow it at this point, I don't believe.
