I don't recall having seen anything about IK on HLN, but there was an episode of Dark Minds on investigation discovery.
I'll try to see if I can dig anything up about HLN. I'd be interested in seeing that.

I'm so very confused about this rental car stuff.
I always remember IK driving this blue Kia soul when he was arrested.
However, I've come across some conflicting information. In chapter 13 of Devil in the Darkness there is heavy emphasis on Keyes renting a white 2012 Ford Focus. The book says that he flew to Las Vegas from Alaska and rented a 2012 white Ford Focus. After using SK's atm card a few times in Texas, there was a BOLO put out on that make and model of vehicle. Before driving to his sisters wedding, he goes to an AVIS rent a car to trade his first rental car in for a different car. The book uses the words, it was divine intervention that the only car that they had availible was also a White 2012 Ford Focus.
The chapter goes on a bit and says that Corporal Henry noticed the rental car in the parking lot of The Quality Inn. The radioed agent Rayburn who rushed there with FBI agent Gannoway. They found out from the hotel manager that the driver of the car had checked into the inn under the name Elijah Keyes.
Henry began trailing keyes shortly after, and noticed IK going 3 miles over the speed limit. He pulled Keyes over and asked for his DL as soon as he saw that IK had an Alaska DL he knew he was their guy. Corporal Henry then arrested IK at 11:45am. While searching the 2nd rented white 2012 ford focus he found a gun, a roll of dye stained money from a bank robbery, the mask IK had been using to obtain money from the various ATMS and he also found SK's cell phone and atm/debit card.

That's just a rough summary from the book, the general gist-not word for word quoting.

It confuses me very much, where does the Blue Kia Soul come in???
Like I said that's how I've always remember the description of the vehicle that IK was pulled over and arrested in...

Can a supersleuter help me make some sense out of these discrepancies?

I highly recommend this book, I actually have gleamed quite a bit of previously unknown facts and information from it. IK was so incredibly meticulous, it's a bit mind blowing tbh, I think that LE got very very lucky, if it weren't for SK'S atm card and the rental car fiasco, I deeply feel like he might have gotten away and continued his "hunting" *shiver* the Devil in the Darkness so far been very informative, aside from this mind boggling rental car contradiction/discrepancy.
I read the book in its entirety on my flight back from Florida. I'm now rereading it because there really is so much to take in during one reading alone.

MOO! TIA for any possible clarification that any of you who are extra familiar with all the IK threads and MSM information can possibly provide.

I was able to answer my own questions about the rental car discrepancies.

"February 12, 2012, Keyes rented a blue 2011 Kia Soul from a Houston car rental agency and had the vehicle until February 18, 2012."

...

"On March 10, 2012, Keyes withdrew cash from an ATM at the Humble Community Bank in Humble, Texas."

...

Lufkin, Texas
"On March 13, 2012, Keyes was arrested for access device fraud related to using an ATM card of Anchorage murder victim Samantha Koenig."

Going by the timeline in the link it looks like he had the blue Kia soul rental from Feb. 12th to Feb 18th.

According to the book, on March 6th or 7th he rented the first 2012 white Ford focus. He drove from Las Vegas to Dallas he then used that car to drive from Dallas into arizona where he robbed a bank.
On March 8th he rented the 2nd 2012 white Ford focus from a different AVIS near the Humble city airport.

Then on March 13th he was arrested in the white Ford focus.

Clear as mud ;-)
