Background: I have been researching two women from the 1940s who had owned and operated three private home orphanages for 30 years. The orphan homes were located 1. in Venice Beach, CA, 2. Ocean Park, CA, 3. Santa Monica, CA. The two women, Mary D. CLAVEY and Josephine VELA, were linked to another orphanage in Playa del Rey that burned down in 1924. The evidence also led me to Miss. Georgia Tann of the Tennessee Children's Home operated in the 1920s as well. The research of CLAVEY, VELA, and the children they took care of also led me to the underworld of Bootlegging. Which makes sense because Bootlegging is connected to gambling. Gambling is connected to Prostitution. Prostitution is connected to children. These women who ran private home orphanages were connected to "unwanted children". Tann built a network of private home orphanges that ran along the Bootleeging syndicates. I have read many adoption blogs, and they have repeated, "the birth information they were given was false". As my understanding of Georgia Tann records of the illegal adoptions she conducted were never found. If the records were found, they were never shared with the public. There was another clue, I had read somewhere that Tann had off-shore accounts. A new feature on familysearch.org called "find" was added. Just by chance, in the search bar under surname I typed "TANN". At first, I did not know what I was reading but then it hit me "off-shore accounts". She hid some of her files in the Phillioppans. This was not all I found, on one of the carbon copies someone had left a clean finger print and a thumb print. I don't know if she was arrested or if she was finger printed. But someone might know more about Georgia Tann then I do. I did not want to go to any of the large genealogy websites about thisi information, in fear these records could suddenly vanish. So, I came here for help, because I dont have the formal eduation to decode. I also don't have the man power to go through all the records to decode them. But someone here may know more about the culture of early 20th century adoptions. I will be happy to help in way that I can even just indexing. I know how hards it has been for famillies to even peek at these types of records. There are plenty more hidden files, for example, Tann used Muster Rolls of US Navy Ships, Stations, and other Naval Activities form as way to track the children. Everything is coded but I reconized many of the names, places, dates, addresses, hospitals. I can try and answer any questions anyone has. Thank you, Java76
