She can try to run but Interpol would have a warrant out for her arrest.

jmo

Interpol will waste their time and resources to track down an innocent young girl who wrote a false confession under duress, was at the most guilty of being stupid and playing into LE's hands and put her into a prison for 28 years? They have nothing better to do? How about ISIS and AL Qaeda?

Amanda is lucky that Italy does not have LIPWP or the death penalty.
Plus, her cell is a lot bigger than the ones here.

IIRC, her jail cell even had it's own kitchen area etc.

Lucky? That is sick.

So they (Italy) don't have double-jeapardy but we (US) do. So that nullifies the one trial Italy has had?
That is going to make AK innocent?

After the Hellmann ruling (appeal) was completely obliterated by the Italian Supreme Court RS was not allowed to leave the country. AK would not have been able to leave the country either if the Appeal Court (Hellmann) had not made the ridiculous ruling that the Italian Supreme Court obliterated and annulled.

That is what happened. That is why she was able to leave the country. How can it be that she was 'acquited' on a decision (appeal verdict) that was found completely wrong by the Supreme Court?

A bad/wrong/unreasonable/illogical ruling = released on appeal
Release wrong/bad/illogical = Supreme Court ruling

Why would anyone want an accused killer getting off on the murder because of a slight difference in systems?

In the end even 'IF' it was double-jeapardy she would not be innocent IMO... just someone that got away with what they did because of a technicality.

AK is innocent.

Yes. They nullified it when they over turned the guilty verdict on the same evidence.

She was allowed to leave because even the Italian system can not keep people there who have been found NOT GUILTY on the same evidence that convicted them.

No one got away with it. RG is in prison. He did this.

It is my understanding, per Italian law, no decision is final until it is signed off on by the highest court. That said, I don't understand why Amanda was allowed to leave the country.

Part of the reason Amanda was released is due to their systems being very "pro defendant" in a way. They are much more lenient on someone accused of murder than we in US are. Their system believes in rehabilitation, much more so than we do hence the shorter sentences they give.

Amanda should thank her lucky stars she wasn't in the US. Sorry for anyone who disagrees with other countries judicial systems, might I suggest not breaking the law while visiting.

In the US she would not have been charged IMO. They have their killer. They already have someone in jail for the crime. You can't just keep charging people.

If Italy asks for Amanda to be returned to them, there is less than a 1 percent chance this will not happen.

That is not true. Not according to international legal experts.
I do not think the US will extradite her because according to the treaty there is double jeopardy and she would not have to go back.

AK is innocent.

Too bad that the Supreme Court is ruling on the GUILTY verdict that now stands.
Too bad whatever happens there she will never be seen as innocent... because the Courts found her guilty.
Too bad her release was based on an illogical appeal that was completely squashed by the Supreme Court.
Good thing (I guess) for her that she got out of Dodge before the illogical appeal was ruled on and annulled.

Too bad the only fight now is to avoid extradition IMO... which is not going to work out for her either IMO.

double jeopardy does not apply to this case.

I don't get how folks who say they have followed this case all the way through, don't understand that she was acquitted. The original guilty verdict was overturned. Don't believe me? Google any article the day of and the days following the verdict. I believe it was October ??, 2011
She was set free after 4 years in prison because the guilty decision was overturned. Then the corrupt justice system had to save face and go after her again because that is what a corrupt system does... It allows them to convict whoever they want.
Now, as far as double jeopardy and extradition, we can all argue til we are blue in the face. All we have to do is wait and see what happens. If there is any justice in this world she will not be going back to Italy. Unfortunately RS is in a different predicament and his life is truly on the line, hence the reason why his defense team is distancing him from AK.
If you are waiting for RS to come clean and tell the truth, you will be waiting a long time, because they both have been telling the truth from day one.

Amanda Knox is not Casey Anthony. She is not Jodi Arias. That is the problem here. Folks look at AK and see those two lunatics. The reason for that is because of a smear campaign brought against her by the corrupt prosecutor Mignini. He did THE EXACT SAME thing before AND was convicted!!
It ain't rocket science to see what went on here. IMO

Hi everyone, has the court made their decision yet?

Also, anyone have a link to Raffaele's latest appeal in which he distances himself from Amanda and says that he can't be sure whether she was there for whole time or not?

TIA.

Yeah... how did lying about where you were and what you were doing work out for Jody Arias?

Lying to cops never works out too good IMO. They would have THOUGHT they had their killer (Patrick) AND he was in jail... because that is who AK accused of raping and killing Meredith.

*Maybe she should pay him what the Court ruled she owes him for that very accusation. Or maybe a sorry or two.

Friday. He doesn't really distance himself... in fact it doesn't have much gusto at all IMO.

Jodi Arias killed Travis. No question. I don't see any evidence that comes close to what they have on Arias.
Why does it have to be accused.. Why can't it be that they asked her and she listed people that could have been involved and so they looked at Patrick. She was a foreigner not speaking the language well, Who knows what was going on in that early investigation.
None of this equates to her being guilty of murder.
She was found not guilty on the same evidence. It is criminal then to reverse again. IMPO.
