Huh?

Diaw said he had sexual relations with Olsen after meeting her in a club and going to her home, according to the sources.
He said they subsequently argued and she banged her head after he pushed her, they said.
He said that the bruising on her neck, which led coroners to conclude she had been strangled, resulted from his efforts to lift her up, according to the sources

Creazzo said Olsen had two fractures to her skull, which suggested the murder was carried out in two stages, first with an attack with a blunt instrument and then via strangulation

There is no trace of an erotic game," Creazzo said, adding that he believed the pair had "consensual sex"

Diaw fled with her mobile phone and put his SIM card into it

Autopsy report showed two cracks in skull. Per CNN.

The man was detained overnight and interrogated until 04:00 Italian time. Diaw said he had sexual relations with Olsen after meeting her in a club and going to her home, according to the sources.
He said they subsequently argued and she banged her head after he pushed her, they said.
He said that the bruising on her neck, which led coroners to conclude she had been strangled, resulted from his efforts to lift her up, according to the sources. Olsen, originally from Florida, was living in Florence where her father, an architect, works at an art school. She was found dead at her rented apartment on Saturday.
An autopsy found that she had been strangled with a cord or rope. The detained man was identified with the help of footage from surveillance cameras that showed him going from a club to Olsen's home with her early last Friday. Creazzo said Olsen had two fractures to her skull, which suggested the murder was carried out in two stages, first with an attack with a blunt instrument and then via strangulation. Prosecutors said that there is no evidence to suggest that an erotic game gone wrong was a factor in the murder.
"There is no trace of an erotic game," Creazzo said, adding that he believed the pair had "consensual sex". He stressed, however, that he believed both the suspect and the victim may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
"It's possible that both parties may not have been lucid," said Creazzo.
"We are waiting for the results of the toxicological tests (but) we have reason to believe that they took substances that did not leave them lucid, certainly alcohol, maybe something else".
He added that there was nothing to suggest the pair knew each other previously. Creazzo added that, after Olsen was killed, Diaw fled with her mobile phone and put his SIM card into it.

Let's read between the lines and concentrate on the highlighted parts above..

They have sex.
He then pushes her down and somehow knocks her out.
He then grabs a cord and strangles her while she is passed out.
He then steals her phone and puts his own Sim card into it.

Hmmmmm......sounds like cold blooded murder to me........motive unclear.

It sounds like he drugged her and that she was targeted. Something about this just seems off to me. It just does.

More detailed information.

Cheik Tidiane Diaw, 25, told officers he strangled Olsen after the pair had sex when she told him he had to leave because her boyfriend was coming back

He told police that her death was the result of a fight after having consensual sex.
According to police, he told interrogators: 'She told me to leave and that her boyfriend was coming and she pushed me to the door.'
He then said that he punched her in the head, screaming 'you have treated me like a dog'

The killer had attempted to flush the condom and cigarette down the lavatory, investigators said, but the flush had failed and the objects were recovered by the forensic team.

It sounds like quite the opposite to me:
"In cold blood" means it's done without emotion. Calculated.

A murder done "in the heat of the moment" is when your emotions or temper get the best of you, and you kill in a rage.

I see it as the later: that she said something and he exploded in a rage.

Very sad, everything collided to the moment of her murder over a fight with her boyfriend. RIP Ashley. Poor Scout.

A very sad story :'(

Poor Ashley, poor Scout. I hope he is in loving hands now. My condolences to Ashley's family.

I'm glad they caught the guy so fast. It seems there is physical evidence, and he is talking. That's good at least.

Much like the Jodi Arias case, we are all stuck with ONE version of the story, HIS version.

Just because the media is making her out to be somebody on the take, that doesn't make it so. She may have simply invited this guy over to drink some more beer and do a little more partying before sun-up. Who can say if this guy slipped her a date rape drug and the sex was FAR from consensual. She may have been passed out the entire time, thus the lack of defensive wounds, especially when he was choking her out and beating her around the head. Maybe she regained just enough consciousness to put up a feeble attempt at defending herself, but it was far from enough. I don't think this has anything to do with her calling him a dog and ordering him to leave. If there was a physical altercation due to that, where's the proof ?

This sounds like something right out of the Joran van der Sloot playbook to me. The toxicology tests should go a long way in answering some of these questions.

I still have questions that I get may never be answered. Makes me feel a bit better to simply express them. Appears she did bring the creep back to her apt. Once there did she feel I made a mistake? was the sex consensual? She may have not fought him realizing sex was going to happen and therefore no sign of anything forced. Was Ashley simply hoping to survive? Maybe it was consensual and she was trying to get him the hell out. With that level of violence I am sure interested in this creeps past. For me his story sounds so phony. And where did the kinky sex story originate? If it was news reporters shame on them as it breaks my heart her Family and Friends had to read that. Just pondering some points. Sigh......

Complete speculation.

Guessing that perp might have offered to walk the victim home, perhaps he showed a sympathetic ear to her boyfriend problems.
He probably intended to get something from her, maybe she wore a necklace that he might have tried to steal, causing scratches to her neck..
Maybe he thought she would willingly have a sexual encounter with him, then he could ask her for money and/or her phone.
Maybe she turned down sex and tried to get him to leave, maybe charm did not work in this robbery, so he got angry and decided to take his due the rough way and steal everything, sex, life, phone, bra, dignity - absolutely everything?
Alleged thief first, imo.

imo, speculation.

He helped her to bed, how kind- could he not have gone the distance and also covered up her naked body with a blanket?
imo.

Lawyer: Suspect Left Florence Victim Alive After Fight
http://abcnews.go.com/International...lled-italy-fractured-skull-strangled-36281503
Voce said Diaw told investigators that they had fought when she tried to push him out of the apartment fearing her boyfriend would be arriving. After being pushed against the door, Diaw responded by punching Olsen in the neck and then pushing her to the ground, where she hit her head, Voce said.

Diaw helped her to the bed and left.

"He felt taken advantage of," Voce said. "She was still alive when he left."

IMO this guy is a Liar. Autopsy showed and does show strangulation. Not to mention the head injuries.

It sounds like he drugged her and that she was targeted. Something about this just seems off to me. It just does.

When I first saw the pic of her & her dog were she is sitting with a cig in her left hand and her right arm around her dog, I said to my hubby that she looked like a drug/heroine addict. I then read that her and her boyfriend had a argument/disagreement 2-3 days prior. Then that she was at a club and had left with the suspect. Then that he was known to the police/community? as a drug pusher/seller/dealer. Then it has been reported that the sex was consensual. Not sure where it went wrong but from all reports she invited a stranger to her place and she should have known better. jmo
