Boy, 12 followed down mountain by brown bear, when picnicking w family (the boy, not the bear)
"Alessandro, 12, was hiking with his family in Trentino in northern Italy when they noticed the bear, which rose onto its hind legs at several points."
He'll have a story to tell ---the "coolest day of my life." Personally speaking, a weeeee little to close for comfort, but maybe that's just me.
Just the vid.

2 min. vid. on bbc.com

Same 2 min vid, plus more narrative.

This time of year it's likely that was a Mama Bear concerned for her cubs.
The young fellow here was lucky he wasn't attacked. Bears will generally avoid humans at all cost unless they are protecting their Cubs. Standing on the hind legs is merely a way for a bear to get a better look at something they find interesting.

Amateur opinion and speculation
