Cemetery workers in Milan discovered that the head of murdered model Pamela Genini had been stolen from her coffin during a routine transfer of her remains last week.
According to the New York Post, Genini, 29, was a reality television personality and founder of a swimwear brand who was stabbed to death on her balcony in October. She had been interred five months ago following her murder.
According to the Italian news agency ANSA, cemetery workers became suspicious on March 23 when they noticed Genini’s coffin would not close properly and had loose screws. When they opened the casket, they found her body had been decapitated and her head was missing.
Investigators also discovered that there was fresh silicone used to seal the coffin, suggesting the desecration occurred recently. Local police believe three or four suspects were involved with tampering with the grave, though their motive was unclear.
