If, as reported by the above DM article, Whitbread “is looking forward to having his say and telling the truth about what happened” (in his lawyer’s words), then he and his defence team must have changed their mind by going ‘no comment’ in front of the judge yesterday. ‍♀️ Uccise la compagna a Chieti e fuggì in Inghilterra. A Rebibbia il primo interrogatorio
The above article also reports that:
- the trial is due to start on 22nd November
- MW was the only person seen entering and leaving the house where the murder took between 28th-30th October last year.
- traces of Whitbread's blood were then found on the victim’s clothes (there was probably a fight between the two, she attempted to defend herself or disarm him and he was injured.)
- nothing significant seems to have emerged from the examination of the couple’s IT devices

Thanks for sharing that ACB Murders. It says the trial will be in Lanciano. I wonder which prison he is incarcerated in until November?

Withbread was moved to the medium-security wing of Lanciano prison 10 days ago, but he might be moved again since Lanciano is mostly a high-security prison. The article also says that a few days ago Withbread gave a 60-page memorial to his lawyer. The diary, written in English, talks about his relationship with the victim and the serious crisis that they had been experiencing for over a year.

Well he has had plenty of time to come up with plenty of pages to make it seem like a problem shared. What about the victim? She cannot give her side of the story. JMO MOO

According to this Italian article, MW has pleaded guilty at a January hearing. He’s being assessed by a psychiatrist who will report his findings on 16th May. I don’t think a trial has taken place.

On the one hand MW says he’s sorry he killed Michele, on the other he portrays himself as the victim of a jealous wife who also used to beat him up … except she’s the one who ended up being murdered.

According to a recent psychiatric assessment MW was ‘of sound mind’ when he killed his wife. It’s unclear what’s going to happen next.
