The screams and desperate attempts to defend herself and break free were not enough: the punches to her face were stronger. As was the grip around her neck, increasingly tight, until she was strangled. This is how Zoe Trinchero, the seventeen-year-old from Nizza Monferrato, died, found lifeless in a small stream, killed because of a rejection.
19-year-old Alex Manna couldn't handle being rejected, so he killed Zoe, and then tried to blame her death on another young man. The carabinieri (Italian police) found inconsistencies in Alex's statements from the beginning, and he was quickly arrested.
She was still alive when she was thrown into the canal. Here are the results of the first phase of forensic examinations on the body of Zoe Trinchero, the seventeen-year-old from Nizza Monferrato (Asti) killed late on the evening of February 6th.
Killing a woman because she hasn't accepted a romantic relationship is, according to the text in the Italian penal code, one of the circumstances that constitute femicide.
