Sorry if I misread the meaning behind your post Capp :) .. I took it as an insult at the posters here who are expressing their views. You have no clue what goes on behind these computers screens when we are not posting on WS. I'm sure some of these poster do give to charities, help others and practice what they preach. No one is holier than thou in IMO.. NOT ONE.. This thread was about Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holiday and I understand some of us poster get heated and off topic.. Oh well, nothing new there :D that is the way these forums go sometimes.. anyways, once again, sorry if I misread your post.. :)
You read it right, trust me. The thread topic was about retailers changing their minds, and then seeing how some are complaining again about it. I'd be happy to start a new thread about doing charity work (all year, not just at Christmas.) :)

ETA: For those who would like an easy and free way to do something charitable, please click on the CharityUSA link in my siggy. It'll take you to a site where you just click on links that will then translate into donations to various projects, such as feeding the hungry, feeding animals in shelters, providing healthcare, saving rainforest land, and so on. Thanks!

You have no idea how much I do or don't do for the less fortunate and the needy, and I am not going to detail it because that is between the Lord and I. But that's a major part of my Catholic faith, and we take it seriously.
Why defend your charity?

That's silly. This is just another opportunity to be charitable by having patience in the face of unskillful speech.

We all know you do alot of charitable work DK.

DK, I also do good works throuought the year, and yeah, I would like to know some of the work you do, because your xenophobia and bigoted remarks often fly in the face of your devout Catholicism, which, combined with your obsession with material "goods" and whether or not Tom Cruise is gay (like who cares, anyway...), has made you come across as disingenuous (at the very least) on a number of occasions...

...and frankly, I am much more concerned about feeding and educating starving children than I am about feeding stray cats...

I said I wouldn't detail what I do or DON'T do (we can always do far more.) And thanks for the compliment, but no one knows what charitable work I do cuz I tend to not say. :)

"Zip it" shows the level of tolerance and acceptance of opposing viewpoints that poster has, doesn't it?

No, no, of course not. Details answered for me and did so perfectly.
Yes she did. Thank you!

...when I get fed up, I tell people to "zip it" (a generic remark of frustration).

OTOH, when you get frustrated, you make bigoted and offensive remarks against gays, Jews, and so on...I can list the many, many, remarks you have made that are very, very offensive if you would like me to. :D

(IMO, you'll mellow out once you have a family and see/realize the "bigger picture." I do not think you are a bad person, at all, just extremely immature. I don't think I am a bad person either, I'm just a tad direct, that's all... :D).

"Zip it" is remark in the heat of the moment. Haven't we all thrown a few of those around?

You might have missed my point. Isn't it best to just demonstrate one's own tolerance and acceptance of opposing viewpoints?

We can take the planks out of our own eyes. It is the only thing we do have control over.

I offer this out of friendship and respect for you as a person of faith.

Believe me, I have more than enough trouble with my own patience.

Dark Knight..............I don't know if you know but we show Jesus as RISEN.......................What a concept. IN other words...............we are blessed to know that He is with us now. We have NO guilt........the most important part of Catholic Church to obey and accept their dogma................ is completely erased!

Mama, I'm a protestant too and will admit to not knowing much about Catholicism, but one of the most committed Christians I know is Catholic. She serves a risen Savior and is a great example of what a Christ-centered life is about. :) On the other hand, my mother-in-law (a Methodist) thinks she is the epitome of the "good Christian woman" when, in fact, she uses religion to look down her nose at everyone she comes in contact with. She hates (truly!) anyone who's fat, homosexual, drug-addicted, alcoholic, or any other imperfection humans are subject to. She must've missed the sermon on hating the sin but loving the sinner. :D

That's hardly an olive branch, LOL! It's a gross misrepresentation on things that have already been explained over and over. It's nice you defend your nutty friend, but it's ok, really. :D

No you missed my point again.

Its a start.

I hear an ouch from you and capp

Ouch, that post hurt. Hurt makes me mad. Mad makes me judge you. Judging you with anger I hurt you. On and on it goes.

It's not a defense. Cappucina was unskillful in her post IMO.

She does say some things that are true DK about hurtful things you say in your posts.

I find your remarks about gays and Jews hurtful too.

In my own awkward way I am trying to honor your committment to your faith and show you something you may have a hard time seeing about your posts.

I thoroughly explained the point I was making with the gays and Jews posts long ago. Nova and I had our say on that matter and will agree to disagree with his intentions and mine in our respective posts. I won't rehash it.

No one is asking you to rehash it. Some of us besides Nova are telling you that post was hurtful and disturbing.

So was his. Only difference is the groups named, which further proves my only point.

ETA: After Nova and I made our respective points, he backed off his comment a little bit and I also apologized to members of those groups since I was only making a point and didn't mean it.

The BIG game is about to start, have a great afternoon y'all! GO BLUE!!!!!! :woohoo:

Wait, wait! The comments DK made regarding gays and Jews were a parody of someone elses post. He just substituted those words for words the other poster used to show just how easy it is to misconstrue something and how silly he thought the whole analogy was.

I can't promise that DK is the most pious, most tolerant person, not knowing him in real life, but from his post, he seems to walk his talk and has never, ever put down my faith, even during a heated discussion of differences. He's always taken the time to explain things I find confusing without being condescending.

I am only speaking of this thread though. I don't recall any others where he has put down anyone in any other. Your remembrance may be different.

Not much openness to taking responsibility for being hurtful.

Maybe another day.

Enjoy the BLUE game.

Hi BhamMama!!!! Thank you very much for understanding! Yes, you got the gist of my post, and for that I am glad! I would never want to offend you. :blowkiss: Have a most blessed day, my friend!

I am not quite sure what you are talking about, but I was joking around with Nova and Cappy.

As far as my Church, they stronly encourage a "personal relationship" with Jesus Christ. The Bishops and Cardinals to help administratively goes back to the earliest days of Christianity. The Church simply directs us towards Him. All things must point towards Him. Anything that doesn't must be rejected.

There are millions of wonderful people who are Catholic. I'm just trying to explain to you that the main difference in the Catholic Church is ..that you are only directed to OUR Lord thru a maze of rites and passages. I don't have to go before someone and confess my sin's. I'd probably be in there everyday! All I have to do is say to Jesus I'm sorry.

And as you say, I also believe that "all things mush point toward Him! If that was the case........or has been the case in the Catholic Church then we never ever would have had over 2,000 reported molestation cases coming before the Courts. There will be hundreds and hundreds more.

I say, you need new management.....to put it it in more modern terms.
Certainly if your Bishop's and Cardinal's were directing your priests toward what the Lord would have them do , then they're not doing a good job of it!

Do you understand what I'm saying now?

Aww Wind, it's not like that at all. DK and I don't agree on MANY things! But we do have mutal respect. The same I have for every poster, even if we disagree.

I just believe in sticking up for someone, no matter the differences, when I feel they are being put upon. Just like I'd call DK on it if I felt he was being out of line concerning something.

In reality, it's hard to express yourself via the pc. I'm just glad we all try. It has opened my world and my mind.
