Goldbergs and Modern Family Actor Jackson Odell, 20, Found Dead at California Home

Jackson Odell has died at the age of 20.

The musician and actor, best known for his role as Ari Caldwell on ABC’s The Goldbergs from 2013 to 2015, was found unresponsive at his Tarzana, California, residence on Friday, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE. His cause of death is pending an autopsy.

“The Odell family has lost our beloved son and brother, Jackson Odell, on Friday,” his family in a statement posted to his Twitter page. “He will always be a shining light and a brilliant, loving and talented soul. He had so much more to share. Our family will always carry that truth forward. Our wish is that the rest of the world who knew and loved him does as well.”

The family continued, “We are now going to try to make sense of our immeasurable loss privately. We will not be making anymore statements.”

Odell played Ari Caldwell on the TV sitcom "The Goldbergs," according to IMDB.com, and played Ted Durkas on two episodes of "Modern Family."

"He will always be a shining light and a brilliant, loving and talented soul," Odell's famly said Sunday on Twitter. "He had so much more to share. Our family will always carry that truth forward. Our wish is that the rest of the world who knew and loved him does as well."

Jackson Odell, ‘The Goldbergs’ Actor, Dies at 20

Odell was found unresponsive in his Tarzana residence in San Fernando Valley June 8, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed to Variety. The cause of death has not been released, pending an autopsy. No foul play is suspected.

In addition to his role as Ari in Seasons 1 and 2 of “The Goldbergs,” Odell had credits on “The Fosters,” “Modern Family,” and “iCarly.” He also starred in the 2011 film “Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer” with Heather Graham. He had been involved in show business from the age of 12.
