Jacob was found by his parents on Super Bowl Sunday on the floor of his apartment at 9804 Hedges Avenue with his hands underneath him and a pool of blood next to his head. They told responding officers they had stopped by to drop off laundry and found the door unlocked.
The death was originally ruled a suicide but has since been reopened as a homicide investigation.
Jacob's mom hadn't heard from him in a couple of days, she said. The last time Michele Skowronski saw her son, he had dropped by their home in Lee's Summit with lunch.
Jacob was a student at Longview campus of Metropolitan Community College.
An anonymous donor is offering $25k reward for information leading to an arrest. That reward was increased to $30k on June9th.
