Cracked me up. You almost never hear 70-year olds saying the "C" word!!!

She said the "C" word that referrs to a woman's cooch and a word used by mostly men to demean women to the lowest and rankest level? That "C" word. I curse and I ain't no prude, but that "C" word just ain't in my vocabulary. If she said the one I am thinking. Jane, works a last nerve anyway. Lucky I didn't ruin my joints and all with her workout. Everybody busting their butts back in the day and she was getting plastic surgery. Hanoi Jane was not allowed on the TV in our house growing up. If my dad cursed he'd have called HER that "C" word. I'm sorry I see that was her gig in the Vaginia Monologues. How appropriate then. Closest I'll get to saying that word.

She has always been a nasty, vile lady..some things never change.

I really cannot see what is the big deal. She was invited onto the Today show to talk about her new role in "The Vagina Monologues". Her monologue is titled "C***." In her enthusiasm talking about her role in this award-winning and very popular play in which all kinds of slang words for woman's anatomy are blunty and openly used, she mentions the word around which her monologue revolves. She didn't call somebody a C***. Yes, it is too bad that it slipped out but it was an innocent mistake and hardly worth the outcry.

Cypros,

Thank you for being the voice of reason. I think you are exactly right.

I hope I live long enough so that I can say anything I want and people just have to put up with me because I'm a senior citizen.

Jeana, you should meet my Grandmother. She's 97 and she does say anything, anytime, anywhere. She says it's her right and if someone doesn't like it, too bad! LOL
She still drinks a glass of wine a day too! She taught my hubby the Charleston, lines all the great grand kids up on the 4th of July and has a mini parade around the back yard with the Star Spangled Banner blarring and tells her doctors exactly what she thinks of them making her wait more than 15 minutes for her appts. She says at her age, she doesn't have that time to spare.
She walked in on me in the bathroom one time and when I jumped she told me "If you've got something I don't have, I'll shoot it off!"

LOL! She's an awesome lady and a real trip, she also has ALL of her original teeth!

I think most agree it is viewed as offensive, it is just the context in which she used it wasn't as offensive as the stories would lead one to believe.
Personally I find the word used in another post *cooch* to tbe among the worst slang terms for the vagina around.

I kind of don't get the hoopla... yes, the word is offensive, but she didn't say it in an offensive text... she was talking about the name of the monologue she was asked to do, to which she said she didn't think so. I mean, come on, talking about taking something out of context: people are picking up on that one word and acting like she purposely said it to offend people. From the sound of things, she was kind of taken aback by the name of the monologue they tagged for her to do, herself.

Heck, I'm far more offended by the tackiness of Cosmo putting the word "Va-jay-jay" on their cover, than Fonda talking about how she was asked to do the "C-word" monologue...

Children have no business watching news programs like that anyway, IMO. I think it was an innocent slip - c**t was the name of the monologue she was asked to do. Meridith's face in the clip cracks me up!

Hi Masterj....just curious why you think children have no business watching programs like this? My oldest daughter, 9, loves to get up and watch the TODAY show in the mornings.

What's so offensive about it? It's just short for "Can't Understand Normal Thinking".

I thought it was your See (C) You(U) Next Tuesday!

JBean said in a prior post that she finds the word "cooch" offensive,I have to say,in my opinion the WORST slang word for it starts with a "p".I can't stand that word!!
