Well, if you want hyperbole...Nancy Grace is covering the situation...

My local news (WA) was just saying that they were checking everyone coming from Japan at the airport for radiation. Ugh. Top story was the pills. LOL

No linky yet... was just reported.

I've been pondering the "return of power" to this plant that "they" have talked about today. C'mon - LQQK at those new pictures. At least two of these buildings are nothing but twisted metal and concrete - do any of you really think that IF they do restore power that anything is going to work (or come online) in either of these buildings?

No, I'm sure nothing in those buildings will work, but if they can get electricity close enough to them, they can use diesel pumps to get seawater in there. Or so I think, or maybe I heard it on TV. At any rate MOO

er, NO. Vitamins can be dangerous when you take to many of them. Not a good idea. Some vitamins have lethal levels. I'm not a Dr., nor do I play one on tee vee, but I know vitamins can be poison.

LOL....not talking massive doses, but like one every twelve hours instead of one a day kind of thing. The kind of things that health "nuts" do all the time. Personally, I never take any kind of meds other than an occasional tylenol, so I am a rookie at all this stuff!

Hi All!!

I have been gone all day and just spent an hour trying to catch up with what the situation is. And it appears to be extremely bad. Here is what I can surmise:

1. I cannot get onto my Tokyo geiger counter site anymore.
2. I still can't access either the CNN NHK live feed nor the Kyodo live streaming site.
3. I just heard someone on CNN (a nuclear person, but don;t remember their name) say that the spent fuel rod pool at reactor #4 is completely dry. Normally it has a MINIMUM of 16 feet of water above the highest level of rods.

Here is what I encountered today. I need to preface this by saying I am an extreme couponer---which is why I was at 14 different stores today---3 Rite Aid, 3 Walgreens pharmacies, 2 Targets, 2 Wal Marts and 4 different vitamin supply stores. Most of these I was at for other products but thought I would check on the Potassium Iodide. (I was in both Raleigh NC --- where I live and Shearon Harris Nuclear plant is 22 miles SW of me---and also Greenville, NC, where the Brunswick county reactor is about 50 miles away). No Potassium Iodide anywhere. Was told at 7 (yup, SEVEN) that all of their companies' stock of it has been shipped to the West Coast or overseas. Now isn't that interesting????????

My personal feelings on this: there are no live workers at the plant anymore. Many Japanese have been exposed to both airborn radiation and radiation in the water. I believe we are looking at what will become the WORST nuclear disaster we have ever seen. I am SURE that TEPCO is lying through their teeth. This is beyond awful.

PS You guys are the best---no other site has such up to date information. I am very thankful for all that each of you is sharing b/c as bad as something may be, I would much rather know than be kept in the dark.

I just heard someone on CNN say he thinks we are at the Chernobyl level now. I tend to agree. How long have they been trying to connect new power lines....just yesterday or today. Not good and little late.

They have had no power since the tsunami to cool the reactors...nor any power for just the monitors, etc. Blind to what is happening in any words except visually and what they are told from outside observers....drones, etc.

Chernobyl was ONE reactor....we already have four and possible six? I believe the US officials saying the fuel cell in the pools are dry and melting is true and they (we) are in big trouble. There just not a "few" of those lying in there.

Maybe I'm too much on the panic side, but I want our military personnel the hell out there.

How Weather Could Link Japan Radiation to U.S.

Quote: Were there to be a significant release of radiation, tracking the fallout would become a meteorological problem.

Japan lies in the mid latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, as does the United States. Likewise, its weather is dominated by prevailing westerly winds, but with significant variation near the earth surface.

and

Calculated time for radioactive particles to cross the Pacific from the power plants in Japan to big West Coast cities if the particles take a direct path and move at a speed of 20 mph (estimated distance and time):

Anchorage 3,457 miles 7 days
Honolulu 3,847 miles 8 days
Seattle 4,792 miles 10 days
Los Angeles 5,477 miles 11 days

News to me. I haven't heard anything like that from Gov. Moonbeam.

She's stated it at least 3 times already. :dunno:

Just saw on CNN.com live feed they will be using a police cannon water truck to spray water into the reserve pool of the reaction. The truck will spray from the ground instead of helicopters which were doing from above. They said there's an opening in the wall above the reserve pool which would allow the water to enter.

THIS IS A LAST DITCH EFFORT THAT HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE.

That may, sort of, answer our question, "Why the police?". Because it's their equipment, so they know how to operate it.

Since you shared..
When my husband went to the dallas fort worth airport to pick up a co worker on Monday.. people were being scanned then.. he's about 99% sure.
They were scanning ALL people disembarking.. NOT people getting ON flights and they were not the long wands that security usually uses, they were small hand held devices.. he wizzed by too fast to hear if they made any noise.....
Take it for what it's worth.. take it as rumor only since i have no verification except my very laid back hubby.....
