This young man was last seen near Nankai Wakahama train station on October 11. The next day a woman found many of his personal belongings, including his passport, in a public restroom. His cell phone was also found on a bridge the same day.

Security camera footage showed a man believed to be Worm visiting Wakayama on Sept. 30. Around 8 p.m. on Oct. 11, he was seen on a security camera near Nankai Electric Railway’s Wakayamashi Station.

Additionally, Worm’s passport and cellphone were found in a public restroom along the Kinokawa River, which flows north of Wakayamashi Station.

I haven't seen additional news about CW's disappearance. Some key details:

-He messaged his mother over social media on Oct. 10.

-A person resembling him was seen on security camera footage at night on Oct. 11.

-His smartphone was found at 1 pm on Oct. 12 on a bridge. Other personal belongings of his are found in a restroom just a few hours later.

I also read that he stayed in an accommodation that did not have a live host. I assume there is some kind of electronic code that one receives to gain access. Anyone have more insight on this type of accommodation?

There is a social media post from a friend of CW's that includes the location of his accommodation, last known location and where they found his passport. I do not know if I can share that post here.

Guessing an AirBNB or similar short term rental service. Digital locks with key codes are common in Japan. Although I did stay in an AirBNB in Tokyo where they just left the key in the mailbox - crime levels are really low there.

The body of Claudio Worm, a 21-year-old German student who went missing in Japan in October, was found near the coast of Kada, a coastal town in Wakayama Prefecture. Police confirmed Worm’s identity after recovering the body earlier in the week. While the cause of death remains undetermined, authorities are investigating both accidental and criminal possibilities.

Found that post, it also indicates that CW did not buy a return ticket, which opens up a lot of possibilities.

It was probably suicide from what people who know the family told me.
