New Yorker who murdered Tinder date in Japan and dismembered her gets just eight years in prison | Daily Mail Online
The American tourist suspected of decapitating his date then putting her severed head in a bag and scattering the rest of her body in the woods while on vacation in
Japan has been sentenced to just eight years in prison.
Yevgeniy Vasilievich Bayraktar, 26, of Long Island, New York, admitted to having killed Saki Kondo, 27, dismembering her and then dumping her body parts around several Japanese cities in 2018.

Bayraktar was tried for manslaughter and destruction and abandoning a corpse, instead of murder, because it was unclear whether he had purposely set out to kill her, according to the
Tokyo Reporter.
Japanese prosecutors had asked for a 13-year prison sentence because he had attempted to conceal evidence, including deleting the dating app, while the defense had said a five-year sentence was enough since he had shown remorse for his crime and told investigators where to find Kondo's body parts.
'I will be burdened with this crime until the day I die,' Bayraktar was reported to have said during the trial, adding, 'I am so sorry.'
Bayraktar was ultimately sentenced to eight years in prison.
