Yes, he is free until the day he is found guilty of 1st degree murder - or in very unfortunate case of another hung jury, charges are dropped (doubtful they would have 3 trials).

Thanks, JTF! Again, you amaze me with the things you know and what you can dig up to add so much to what we know. Hmmmm...a Promissory Note -- so that's how it works, at least in this situation. And Lorrin Freeman -- there seems to be no end to the things for which her office has responsibility -- of course it's the Superior Court Clerk, but still, it's vast. So they do have a bit of acreage... and they're sitting on it right now.
