Jayden Spicer, 10, August 6, 2025 *mother arrested*

I’m wondering if perhaps she dictated the note to one of the other children who allegedly live in the house who wrote it out neatly for her. It looks to me like elementary schooling printing.
Perhaps she knows her spelling and grammar are bad and wanted the note to “look good” to the public.
I was going to say this! It might be an older sibling who mom was telling what to write for her.

That could very well be.

And perhaps that indicates an older child called into adult responsibilities at other times? IDK. I don't want to go overboard reading into it, at this point.

That’s why I asked if there was a child in the home. I wondered if it had been dictated and a child took it down.

Who all lives in the home? Do we even know?

That picture haunts me. He looks so tired….like he’s been through it.

Very concerned about what has transpired here.

I'm concerned too. And I don't think that little boy wandered off in his pajamas on the night/morning before school. Not buying it. imo

This is not going to end well IMO.

I’ve been wrong before but I don’t think so this time.

Sigh…

  • #127
Although possible, also don’t believe he walked out himself. Fearing the worst.

  • #128
unless the mum or her children is in danger, there is no good reason I can think of not to show her face and appeal for her son’s safe return - and if not her, then another family member

barring him having had difficulties last year with school or peers, I don't know what would cause a 10 year old boy to sneak out and wander off after bedtime in his PJs right before school was set to begin again. Most kids would be looking forward to seeing friends they hadn't seen during summer break and comparing notes on what they missed.

Snipped by me for focus, and yes. I would look more than twice at this boy were I to encounter him. He seems depleted, worn down, though willing to offer that bit of a smile. Maybe it's those huge dark circles under his eyes and his clutching fingers.

JMO, hard to shake off the deep uneasiness here, even dread.

Also, I am so tired of children disappearing. It happens way too often.

Can OP or the mods please change the title from “last night” to the date he disappeared?

Mildred Shannon, who lives more than a mile away from Spicer's house, said her family immediately checked their security cameras when they heard about the missing child.

"There are a lot of coyotes, you got the snakes and things at night, so a child, even a young adult, probably aren't safe out of the woods at night," Shannon said.

"Everybody cares, you wouldn't want your son, your grandson...lost in the woods at night. It's not safe," she added.

“So as of right now, this investigation does not meet qualifications for any type of alerts. It doesn’t meet for an Amber Alert or an Ian Alert at this time. Without documented mental disabilities, it wouldn’t qualify,” Trooper Gayheart said.

Trooper Gayheart said there are several missing person alerts that they are able to use when the situation qualifies.

“The Amber Alert is utilized for someone who’s been abducted or his life’s in imminent danger and the Ian Alert is more for somebody who has physical disabilities,” Gayheart said.

I’m wondering if the mom or other family are possibly immigrants (perhaps on overstayed visas or who entered country illegally) and she/they are afraid of ending up in Ice detention.
This is all just my opinion & only speculation of course! Even if she/they are legal immigrants they may be worried about deportation. I know that doesn’t outweigh the urgency of the missing child, I don’t think it does. I’m simply reserving judgement on the letter/remaining anon until more is known. I posited earlier it could be fear of a previous abuser or something like that.
Obviously the police know her name right? If she’s cooperating with them, i’m not sure what value there is (to the search for the kid) for the public to know her name & face at this stage. JMO

It's weird for sure. It literally looks like a child wrote it, with the big printed words, double-spaced, in pencil, like it's a 5th grade school assignment. It's also weird that she spells his name with a lower case j a couple of times, like a kid would. I'm not implying any of this means anything whatsoever, it's just bizarre to me to see an adult write a note like this, idk
The fact a note was handed over is weird imo.

However, I'm not reading anything into the writing as not everyone has the same level of literacy and things like dyslexia can impact spelling.
The mother may not be highly literate, and that could be why her note looks like that. Kentucky - especially the rural, mountainous counties like Breathitt, - is viewed by some measures as being near the bottom in the US in terms of adult level of education, though I can't find current data on the average number of grades completed. I met a Kentucky college student 25 years ago whose father had gotten only through 8th grade and mother only through 4th. (Bravo to that student!)

I could find data from https://nces.ed.gov/surveys/piaac/skillsmap/src/PDF/Kentucky.pdf showing that 35% of adults in Breathitt County (very rural) have literacy skills at or below Level 1. Level 1 is defined as having "a basic sight vocabulary and can read short texts on familiar topics to locate a single piece of information," according to Literacy and Numeracy Skills of U.S. Adults.

This also makes me think, this boy is from a region that some people around the US (and maybe around the world?) stereotype very negatively, and that may be another reason the mother doesn't want her name nor her photo/face to be published on the internet ...trying to avoid being slammed with all the nasty things people associate with someone who possibly looks or sounds like a stereotypical "hillbilly."

I hope he is found safe, and I'm trying to keep an open mind about the mother's actions. It's hard not to speculate when we've heard so little in terms of details from LE.

This little boy doesn't look well. IMO, dark circles under his eyes, extremely slim. Concerns me how he looks. Are there any siblings? Would like to see how they look.

Imo something is very wrong here.

Praying he's found safe 🙏💙🙏View attachment 606742
MOO. This note looks like it was written by a child (reminds me of that trope of a child writing a note for the teacher to explain their absence from class). What's going on here?

  • #139
Sigh....
Are they still searching today? Is Equasearch still actively looking?
Has the elementary school Jayden belonged to put out a statement...of help and encouragement? We have NOTHING on this boy, and it is disheartening to say the least. IMO

My bff was a sleep walker. She said one night she woke up on the swings at a park near her house.

But the thing about sleepwalking is you do wake up. This is too long.

I think his parents would know if he was a sleepwalker by now.
Our youngest was sleepwalking….actually sleep running….by the time he was three and a half.
