This ten y/o child is literally my height! I don't even know how to feel about that.
I was about about that tall when I was 10 by 12/13 I was over 6ft by 14/15 I was 6ft 3 didn't get any taller after that tho

My grandgirl turned 10 in June, she’s 5’ tall, (started 5th grade on Monday) not sure how she compares to other kids her age.
Girls grow faster at that age than boys. Girls go into their final upwards growth spurt earlier. MOO

I wouldn’t be surprised if his listed height is incorrect. Inaccurate descriptions are not uncommon in missing child cases similar to this one

It’s a bit off topic, but I work with kids that age. It’s quite common for a ten year old to hit that pre puberty growth spurt and shoot up to 5 feet tall. I’ve even got grandkids that grew to 5 feet at age ten. I wouldn’t read anything into Jayden being reported as 5’1”.

Jayden may also have very tall parents.

Just a quick comment about the dark circles under Jayden’s eyes. It can be quite common for children with allergies to have dark circles under their eyes. Jayden appears to be very fair skinned, which can make dark circles more noticeable.

Jayden’s dark circles look like they go all the way around both eyes, not just under his eyes like kids with allergies. I’ve been trying to decide if he had dark circles or 2 black eyes.

Yes, when my daughter was small the doctor called them allergic shiners. Her eyes were always dark underneath and she had many allergies.

I'm also in the camp of not reading too much into the dark circles under his eyes. My son has autism and has a very restrictive diet and poor sleep, as such he sometimes gets dark circles like this. We don't even know how old this photo is, it could have been taken in the care of his grandma. Moo

I don't see anything concerning in his photo. How your eyes appear can also be genetic.

I think his mother was concerned about her past coming out, thus wanting to stay anonymous. I wonder if she was/is outside desperately searching the area, trying to find him?

And the last time a neutral person saw Jayden.

I think it is possible, or a typo and he is 4’1”
Has anyone seen the mom in a context where you could tell how tall she is?
NM I just saw her old mugshot. She is about 5’6’ tall
Yes, if his dad is tall this could be correct

I’m not finding a lot out there on this case, early or what??
Yes I see the typical high drama feeling YouTubers, not the sources I like to digest.

IMO

“Upon arrival of units on scene, they immediately began a search of the immediate area, followed by a larger-scale search that’s been carried out in conjunction with the Breathitt County Emergency Management, along with multiple search and rescue teams,” Kentucky State Police Trooper Matt Gayheart said.

As day three of the search comes to a close, KSP said they’ve exhausted all resources at their disposal, and they’ve decided to expand the search beyond the area of Panbowl Branch.

“Unfortunately, we’ve not been able to locate a lot of evidence suggesting that he would be close by. So unfortunately, we’re kind of at the same spot we were when we started the search,” Gayheart said.

No you're not the only one that feels strange over the mother's letter. Wouldn't a mom want to tell her child we will find you. Mommy is coming to get you! I love you my son! Try not to be afraid. We are coming to get you!
That's what missing. She doesn't speak to her son.

Totally true, she is talking to us, not him.

I'm not sure I would address a note to my missing child either though, as if he was going to read it or see it. I think I would address people who I thought would help to find him, but I would include information I thought would be helpful, such as places he loved to go, his personality, his fears, etc. JMO

The dark circles make me wonder if he was dehydrated. Something as simple as not drinking enough water can cause them. (I'm a big advocate of drinking water - go have a few sips now!)

JMO as a random person on the internet. Go drink water.

Why is there only one picture of this 10 year old. The close up is just from that one picture.
And there is no statement saying this is a recent picture...

He just looks younger than 10, to me.

maybe he has some dutch family :D his height would be normal here, i think!

i think his height is unfortunately one of the very few things that aren’t concerning though.. an unusually short height would maybe be a sign of neglect. the only possibly concerning thing would be if his family didn’t even knew his height, it could show a lack of interest.

I don't think it's a very recent picture, if his stated height is correct. He looks under 5 foot to me, in that picture.

If my preteen ran away, as they're saying Jayden did (left in the middle of the night and doesn't qualify for an Ian Alert = runaway, IMO), I think I would address him directly... but I'm not going to judge this mother for not handling the situation exactly the way I would. We clearly live very different lives, and I have no idea what she's thinking right now.

(I do question a lot of her other choices, obviously.)
