JACKSON, Ky. (WKYT) - A plea of not guilty was entered Friday morning for the mother of Jayden Spicer, Felicia Gross, and her husband, Joshua Gross.

The two are charged in connection with the death of the 10-year-old.

Felicia is charged with murder. Joshua is charged with complicity to murder.

The two were arrested last month after Jayden’s body was found in a shallow grave in Breathitt County.

Both are due back in court on November 7.

Felicia and Joshua Gross, the mother and stepfather of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer, were both back in court Friday in the heartbreaking case surrounding the little boy’s death.

Joshua Gross now has a new attorney after a conflict came up with his previous one. His new lawyer asked for what’s called an adversarial bond hearing...basically, a chance to argue that his $1 million cash bond should be lowered. That hearing is set for Nov. 18.

Felicia Gross’s attorney hasn’t filed to lower her bond (at least not yet) — but told the judge she might join that hearing after talking it over with co-counsel.

As of now, only Joshua’s side and prosecutors will face off in court next week. If Felicia doesn’t file a motion, she won’t be back in front of a judge until January.

Felicia Gross is charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and more. Joshua Gross faces complicity to those same charges.

Jayden’s body was found earlier this year stuffed in a tote and buried in a shallow grave — a discovery that shook this tight community to its core.

About the only solace (& it's a slim one !) is that precious Jayden with the bright sunny grin -- is no longer in pain, confusion, hungry or lonely anymore.

God alone knows what his final days were like because the monsters will never really tell the truth !
