Jennifer Ruth Tanner died on the 10th November 1984 at her farm at Bonnie Doon - Victoria Australia , due to two gunshots to the brain - and one gunshot on each hand, between the index finger and thumb . It was ruled that Jennifer committed suicide , however it is also alleged that she was murdered. The main suspect for her murder has been her brother-in-law, (a former Victorian policeman), who is also said to also be associated in the killing of a New Zealand transsexual sex worker, Adele Bailey (disappeared 1978, St Kilda). Adele Bailey’s remains were uncovered in a mine shaft at Donnie Doon in 1995, behind the Tanner family’s farm. The original farmhouse also was burnt to the ground in mysterious circumstances a few months later in 1995.

The most comprehensive information on this case can be found in the book 'Blind Justice" by Robin Bowles.

Followed by 'Blackened Tanner"by Dennis Tanner (Jennifers brother in law)

Sorry Edit - there are different reports of 10th Nov to 14th November date of death (NIY).

‘One gunshot to the brain and one gunshot on each hand between the index finger and thumb’

That sounds more like she was trying to stop someone from shooting her by putting her hands around and over the end of the gun barrel. How would it be possible if she shot herself?

I just found this JBowie.

HI SB
my apologies it was two shots to the brain. i need to stop typing so fast! Your reasoning is completely on point. it would be virtually impossible to do that on your own. IMO

Former Benalla detective Denis Tanner has called for a new inquest to clear his name in the death of his sister-in-law Jennifer Tanner. Mr Tanner spoke to The News journalist Tammy Mills at the Benalla launch of the new book Blackened Tanner, written by another former Benalla detective; Ron Irwin.

From Google AI:

The "third tanner inquest" refers to a potential third coronial inquest into the death of Jennifer Tanner, which was initiated by former police officer Denis Tanner in an attempt to clear his name after a 1998 inquest found he had killed his sister-in-law. A hearing was scheduled to decide whether a third inquest should be held, but the application was eventually withdrawn.

Here's a more detailed look at the situation:
  • Initial Inquests:
Two previous inquests into Jennifer Tanner's death were held, with the second in 1998 finding that Denis Tanner was the killer.

  • Tanner's Bid:
Denis Tanner, who has always denied any involvement, applied to have the investigation re-opened, hoping a new inquest would clear his name.

  • Coroner's Hearing:
The Victorian Coroner agreed to a hearing to decide on the application to re-open the investigation.

  • Withdrawn Application:
Tanner later withdrew his application to re-open the investigation, and the coroner stated that there were no applications before the court to set aside the findings of the previous inquests.

  • New Evidence:
Tanner had argued that new evidence and witnesses would be presented to support his claims of innocence. However, the coroner ultimately did not find enough evidence to support a new inquest, according to news reports.
