Wow!!!! I know alot of kids who are in school at Liberty and they loved him! Bless his family and Liberty U at this time.
My niece is going to Liberty.

Falwell lived a full life, and was fortunate to die without years of suffering.

It is too bad that he didnt take better care of himself.

RIP, and condolences to his family.

Little of the subject but, I hope that his death will inspire others to take better care of themselves. It has been said that he had a history of heart disease and that he loved fast food. That is a deadly combination. My husband is 46 with a cholesterol level of 246!!!!!!!! He is an avid runner and biker weighs a bout 155lbs but, he loves double cheeseburgers from McD's. (primarily because he is an accountant and they are 99cents). He just couldn't figure out why his cholesterol was so high:slap: . I had tried to tell him but, what would a nurse know anyway. So, the moral of this story is please all of you take care of yourselves eat right, excercise and limit the double cheeseburgers!!!!!

Death always brings pain to the family and those who love the person, so my sympathies to them.

I won't miss Falwell and his obsession with HATE and bizarre fears, ranging from homosexuals to teletubbies (?!). He did a great disservice to the Christian faith.

RIP Falwell

Agreed 100% His teachings spewed a lot of hatred and sadly I am sure another zealot will step up to the plate to take his place.

Wouldn't you just love to be a fly of the wall when he reached the "other side".

It is not for us to judge.. I am always bothered when folks say things like, "so you don't believe in hell, but that won't make the fire any cooler" Like taking joy in the possibility of someone being cast into hell. /rant off

Larry Flynt of all people had this to say about Falwells death:

My mother always told me that no matter how much you dislike a person, when you meet them face to face you will find characteristics about them that you like. Jerry Falwell was a perfect example of that. I hated everything he stood for, but after meeting him in person, years after the trial, Jerry Falwell and I became good friends. He would visit me in California and we would debate together on college campuses. I always appreciated his sincerity even though I knew what he was selling and he knew what I was selling.

I hope that if my death makes national news that my "friends" won't bring up my love of cheeseburgers. I hope they just say "pedinurse was a great person who stood up for what she believed in" or whatever. I can't believe they were making such a deal over his "diet".
His diet was his choice! It wasn't a suicide by cheeseburger! While 73 isn't that old, IT ISN'T THAT YOUNG EITHER. Can't we just "rejoice" that he went to heaven or whereever he ended up. Of course, I hope for everyone that they end up on the good side! But I didn't agree with the man over anything.

Hi PSU

I do not mean to imply judgement, but it was something that Jerry Falwell believed in.
I personally do not believe in hell. I believe that we are here to learn many lessons and that no one is any better or worse than each other.
He himself made many judgements about humanity.
I would be curious to see how his "life review" played out. I would want to know if when he died and looked back on his life if he actually changed some of his hard stances against everyone who didn't believe like he did.
My pleasure would be in knowing that he finally understood that everybody matters.
Racism, antisemitism, and homophobia are counterproductive.
His politics were polarizing and to me that is not the way of a true christian.

And in the end Falwell was tired of being a lightening rod. I read that yesterday, reading about his life.

I did find Flynts comments about his death very gracious.

Agreed.
I also believe that NOBODY is all bad or all good. Larry Flynt's mom is very wise.

The most important result of our relationship was the landmark decision from the Supreme Court that made parody protected speech, and the fact that much of what we see on television and hear on the radio today is a direct result of my having won that now famous case which Falwell played such an important role in.
