I agree with the term being extremely offensive- could never figure that one out- As far as Nova's family's teacher--- I think that is sooooooooo out of line it is crazy- Just as he said- what if....GOD FORBID ( :crazy: ) there is a GAY child in that class-in my opinion, in todays society, there is no room for that type of talk in a classroom

I agree. But do you live in Ohio, too? 'Cause I don't know ANYONE who uses that word to mean illegitimate any more or who even keeps track of whose parents were married or not. It is such a non-issue here among the "fruits and nuts" of California!

I blame it on "spooning".

It makes me sick to my stomach to think of all the gay/lesbian/transgendered kids who not only have to HIDE their orientation, but to also sit in a classroom and listen to their AUTHORITY FIGURE make jokes about them. Infuriating.

Sorry, Anita, I know. The entire concept is offensive (and always was, in my mind). I was just trying to distinguish between that meaning of "" and the one that survives in my circles, which has nothing to do with parentage.

I don't know anyone who uses "illegitimate" anymore either, nor anyone who would know.

LOL...ok, I have used that word, too. Only I spell it "basturd" to differentiate from the hurtful word! lol (I used it several times a day during the Scott "Horny Basturd" Peterson trial.)

Among anyone I know, "" has just become the male equivalent of "." Both words have lost any sexual connotation or reference to parentage and simply mean a disagreeable person.
