Why is that odd?

I have my father's ashes on my mantelpiece in my living room and he passed in 2001. From what I understand, there are many people that retain the ashes within their families as opposed to burying them or spreading the ashes somewhere...
I want to keep my husband's ashes with me if he should die before I do. I see nothing odd about wanting to keep a loved close to you. If I have my husband's ashes on my mantel, I think that it will make me feel like his spirit is with me.

Even Robert DeNiro in Meet the Parents had his mother's ashes on his mantel until Ben Stiller knocked them over. :)

Golf Mom, my mom doesn't believe they faked his death. She believes that he was not the biological son of JFK. She thinks Jackie pulled a fast one on her husband in revenge. Jackie's father was handsome. My mom though goes by the chest. I know she's wackadoo, but she got a point. The Kennedy's although athletic weren't built like that son with a big barrell chest. Old photos of Ari show how muscular he was with the hairy chest and all. Ari also coincidently had a "biological" son who was killed in a plane crash. Ari loved Maria Callas, but wanted the most sought after woman in the world. Plus Ari was hanging with Jackie way long before anyone knew. He has passed and killed at such a young age I shouldn't even be relaying any of this I know. The fact they cremated him though, but didn't BURY his ashes is odd. Also against the Church. Cremation is fine except you have to bury them. Then again the Kennedy's Catholic Church and the rest of ours are two different things. Different laws seemed to apply.

Maybe it's just me, but I do think there is a resemblence between Ari and John Jr.

tks for links.

I have the Memorial edition of Newsweek of John John on my coffee table since his death...

I have seven magazines - Post, Look and Life - from 1963 and 64 featuring the Kennedy assassination. One of them has photos of the actual assassination, that after printing about 1000, they yanked one particularly graphic picture and did not include it in the rest. (At least that's what my dad told me.) They were my dad's magazines and I had told him for years that when he died, all I wanted was those magazines. SO...a few years ago, he started getting rid of stuff "so we wouldn't fight over it when he died" and gave them to me for part of my birthday present.

Don't keep it on the coffee table though! I keep them in a glass case but I do get them out and read them a lot - I love looking at the ads! They still had cigarette and liquor ads then!

Are there any other photos of Jack Worthington (is that his name? The guy from the original article...) to look at? It's hard to tell who he might look like from one photo.

My father's ashes are sitting right behind me. We scattered some in the Colorado River. Buried some in his Fatherland of which he never got to visit. My mom will have hers mixed in with my dad. I don't care where they put mine. I said it is odd because the Kennedy's are Catholics. As Catholics we are now allowed to be cremated, but are not to be scattered. Not supposed to hang around. I made the point of it being odd we're told we can't be scattered at sea yet the Catholic Kennedy's can. Rules of the Church were always seperate for the Kennedy's

I totally believe this. There have been many rumors of his affairs. He had secret tunnels in some hotels to meet Marilyn Monroe. Also there are many people out there claiming to be Elvis Presley's children. One was proven through DNA to be his son and changed his name to Elvis Aaron Presley Jr. though he is not entitled to any monies. There are a lot of them wanting DNA but Lisa Marie won't give it up. She's afraid of losing her money.

I knew there were some that claimed to be illegitimate children of Elvis, but I never knew one was proven to be. Do you have a link?

To the best of my knowledge, a Kennedy is not running for President or VP. How would this influence the election?

Maria

Because both sides of the Kennedy clan have made endorsements of the Democratic candidates- some for Hillary, some for Obama.

Have you ever thought that maybe he just wants closure to prove who is father really is?!?

YEP. In fact, I posted a post last night that states this, but my posts are being totally ignored!!

I believe however they don't have the clout as they did years ago.
Most of the people that remember back then are over 55-60.

They also don't remember Ted Kennedy left a girl to drown in his car. Younger people don't know anything about that. Not all young people surely, but my one nephew didn't. Teddy running his mouth and all and I mentioned that and my nephew was stunned. Another time they wielded their Kennedy powers.

Yes, your right.
I was going to bring that up, but didn't.
And most ppl around here thought it was intentional, with Ted......

No, I didn't read that book. I'm gonna have to now.

It's called Deadly Blessing by Steve Salerno. My library has it and I may check it out again to give me a refresher course on this case.

I'm been searching more on the net about the Daniel family and Jean Houston Murph would have only been 18 in 1960 when Worthington was born so I don't think she's the mother. Could be someone else in that family though. I'm just trying to think of another major political family from South Texas that would have ties to LBJ. The Connally's maybe?

This is from the article linked to in the first post of this thread.

In a statement that Mr. Worthington read to The Globe during a meeting late Tuesday, he says: “Part of [Vanity Fair's] research focuses on my mother's paternal family and their history as lifelong political allies of [Lyndon Johnson] in South Texas. That research is related to the rise of LBJ and fall of JFK, which is an extraordinarily sensitive topic to Americans, so caution and analytical rigour are extremely important.”

It's driving me crazy trying to figure out who she is.

I've thought that forever. no. not just you. :blowkiss:

Oh and don't forget my mom. She's with you two. Been driving me out of my mind the lady for years with that. She'll sketch and draw glasses and all on pictures of them to try and show me bone definition and stuff. The link I posted a ways back has alot of pictures of Ari young and also of his biological son who was killed in an airplane crash. No way am I showing them to my mom. Although, JFK Junior's eyes are spaced far apart like his mom's something about them look like Onassis.
