LOL
Does anyone else wonder what Jodi's mom meant by flashing her #1 mom pendant at Jodi (after Jodi had just described how her mom hit her as a child)?

Was Jodi's mom threatening her with telling the COMPLETE truth about her childhood? I hope so. I'll bet Jodi's childhood behavior falls into the definition of Conduct Disorder.

Quite the opposite, I feel. Don't forget you are speaking from a wise and rational brain, Jodi comes from a family of dysfunction where the laws of physics are different. Jodi's mother did Jodi's bidding and took forged letters to the National Enquirer at her request. This is a codependent mother who feels guilty about where her daughter ended up. We do not know the truth of anything from the mouth of a liar, but I said from day one that hostility in children is a learned behavior and when it was reported that she bashed her brother over the head with a baseball bat, I *immediately* said - she saw that somewhere in her family - someone in that house displays inappropriate hostility. So I am not so sure that tales of physical abuse in that house are so far off course.

Also, we heard how Jodi says how much she still loves her mother - I think Jodi has a manipulative control over her mother based on guilt from her mother's past. I think Jodi must have given that pendant to her mother as a way to manipulate and appease her and say - "mom, in order to save my life fr the needle I'm going to have to trash you on the stand to garner sympathy, but you still know you are #1 mom in my life." And that display of her mother - to me - was a display of manipulation and control exerted by Jodi over her mother. And in a dysfunctional family, we know denial amd distortion of the truth or facts is second nature. It was her mothers way to say "I'm all behind my angel".

Tap dancing on her boy shorts! Brilliant!

The only acting we've seen from her is when she's been allowed to control the narrative to some extent. I believe once she is challenged we will see a much different Jodi Arias. I don't believe she's a particularly good actress, either, and I think she's going to stumble to explain her actions and deceptions. IMO people who see beyond the mask of a psychopath are their biggest threat. If anyone can expose Arias it's Martinez.

I'm hoping the prosecution addresses this on rebuttal because what I bolded was the very first inkling I had her abuse claims were false. Since she began testifying there are several more examples of her actions, and Travis', that are totally atypical (and unbelievable) of everything we know of abusive relationships from decades of research.

'Beguiling temptress' would be a definition I would associate with a 'good' female psychopath and I am just not seeing it with her. I believe, like you, she may be able to influence one juror with her helpless female persona but her brand of psychopath is totally incapable of swaying 18 strangers on an emotional level. (Of course this could all be for naught if a charismatic leader emerges in the jury room that does believe her claims.)

This is a really good article that looks specifically at female psychopathic murderers: http://www.all-about-forensic-psychology.com/support-files/female-psychopathic-killers.pdf

Sadly, she only needs one juror.

Then we get to sit through it all again....

Yeah, I see it as a crap shoot though. We've got 18 people and not even they know who is on the actual jury panel yet. With any luck the one who believes her will end up as an alternate. ;)

Know why JA's mom used a wooden spoon to discipline her away from home?

A boat oar wouldn't fit in her purse.

He's an odd duck. I do think Jodi has a way of casting spells on men with charm.

What I'd like to know, but will never find out because TA is dead, is why he continued to have relations with her after she started going psycho on him?

This right here is why I worry about the males on the jury.

I thought this before she took the stand, that she might be able to charm them. I don't think that anymore. #1 because she has shown zero charm in the last 3 days, IMO, and #2 if you listen to anyone that has been on the various shows that knew Jodi, she never talked about herself much, her charm was that she got people to talk about themselves, seems to me she was a listener (probably to write all the details down to stalk later lol), and if all else failed, she had sex with them IMO

And if he sent them, why aren't they on his devices?

RE: peni pics

'Cause JA said TA deletes right after he listens/views so he probably also deletes right after he sends also.

  • #248
I definitely think she's making up a lot of this and portraying TA in the best way but it also seems like she could make it a LOT worse. I mean, if you're going to lie, why not go all out and make it worse than 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and Pollyanna? Or that he totally flipped his lid when she dated other guys. Instead of "his tone sounded annoyed" why not say he started raising his voice and scaring her?? Maybe that part is coming. :(

FWIW (not much, probably!) I have zero issues with the speed or nature of sexual encounters that she's explaining. I'm totally saddened by the 🤬🤬🤬🤬-shaming when I read comments saying that she was giving the milk away and no wonder she wasn't marriage material contrasted with comments about TA just "being a guy".

BBM - I think the DT will have an expert come on and say JA didn't leave TA because "abused" often don't feel abused and or they protect their "abuser". I also think she is weaving a lot of truth in her lies. And she can't make him out really bad yet as at this point in the testimony they have only been together a few months ("officially" a month:)

I had the same question because I thought Pollyanna would be a compliment but I found this in the Urban Dictionary.

Pollyannaish

Belittling and often insulting term for being absurdly optimistic and good-hearted, believing in a good world where everything works out for the best all tht time.

But that is how she is trying to betray herself....happy go lucky----I don't get the insult....:waitasec:

in my opinion only--All the Prosecutor has to do in his rebuttal closing--is show one by one the pictures of Travis's wounds. I'm a physician and have seen all kinds of injuries--children hit by and thrown from autos--so their scalps are pulled away from their skulls etc etc.---but nothing got to me as much as seeing pictures of the stab wounds on TA's back--that sight broke my heart---how much pain he had to have suffered....that to me indicated to me this was not self defense. Add in the throat slashing and that the gunshot when TA was already dead and what you see is blind rage--someone who was bent on killing another person---someone who has no soul GO JUAN GO------I will never forget these pictures of Travis...Family you must be strong because these pictures are the last thing the jury should see prior to their deliberations!!!

I agree in part.

Didn't her mom point LE to the gun she hid in the car? Kinda like that comment about from Cindy...smells like a dead body in the damn car.

I would think any mother would suffer guilt at the thought of helping to execute her child.

I can't comment on her mother supporting her and loving her daughter.

Her lack of appropriate emotions at certain testimony...very bothersome.

IMO she has to walk a fine line... After all she drove how many miles? Repeatedly.

True...although in an actual abusive relationship, the abuser could demand that she show up or else, etc. I was in one for years and I did all kinds of inconvenient stuff because of the threat of abondonment. But I don't believe at all that this was an actual abusive relationship so that's clearly not her reason for going.

That testimony confused me, Jodi claims it was a form of rape? did she say rape? but then says he stopped when she asked to him to? why would she say Travis stopped? why not just go for gusto and say he didn't stop? I am going to take a wild guess and say she has told this story before and the Prosecutor could have a witness.

No, she did not claim it was rape. She said she did not like it, it was painful, but did not tell him no or stop him until it became too painful, at which time he stopped.

  • #254
I think you hit the nail on the head. I felt the same way- Jodi's mom shows zero affect except a feigned smile at times, like Jodi. And here we have Jodi testifying than beneath that demure surface lies a woman who beat her repeatedly and had this fiery hostile rage inside her. I only hope Juan employs this parallel during cross-exam.

My mother has no clue about my sex life and I plan to keep it that way - I have no reason to believe Jodi's mom knows any more than my own.

Maybe they were also instructed to not show emotion as to not sway the jury????

After listening to several hours of the JA testimony I find it hard to decide who is the most annoying- JA or Keith Nurmi. While JA is egregiously nauseating in her acting lying and hypocrisy Nurmi in many respects is more bothersome.
His repetitive tics, like sticking the right hand in the pocket and swinging the left hand in a circular motion, behave as if this left hand motion functions to extract words out of his bovine brain. Nurmi’s slow halting mindnumbing repetition of words and his unimaginative questions are grating. His speech rhythm is at first soporific and later irksome.
Nurmi’s constant inappropriate use of the phrase “ at this point in time” is like someone scratching a chalk board. In short the US Department of Defense or CIA no longer needs to use “torture techniques” to extract confessions from terrorists, rather the government merely needs to park Nurmi at a podium and let him act as if he is a real trial lawyer. Under those conditions the culprit would quickly cave and scream “no more; no more. . . .please do not Nurmi me anymore!”

Respectfully BBM! THIS drives me nuts!! Glad I'm not the only one!

I've been wondering this too. She's not making him look good but keeps stopping short of completely trashing him.

When asked by Nurmi why she killed Travis she said, "He attacked me and I defended myself."

Oh heck no! After listening to every detail of where she slept, ate, had sex, what kind of sex, how it felt, and how she felt afterward, she better not be allowed to give this condensed version of what happened. I hope she is told, "this is all that matters! this is a murder trial!"

didn't the rental company find the gun? and not LE?

I hate all this time Jodi has off because it just gives her more time to make up her stories and more time for her defense to work with her!

Omg this made me laugh and I couldn't agree more! The "point in time" thing was driving me nuts too..and they are both using it!!! Arrrgh!!!
