After the watching the whole Anthony thing unfold, starting from day 1, I never thought I would get the desire to do that again. This one is just interrupting my normal activities just like the other trial. It is just as disturbing to me and I so, so hope it does not have the same ending.

Today we might get to the rental car...only

:seeya:
I shutter to think how long and drawn out his closing argument is going to be. I don't think I'll be able to subject myself to that boredom.

Today we might get to the rental car...only

:seeya:
Nurmi will eat up the entire day with banal questions about the colour, steering wheel, dashboard etc and how Jodi felt about that.

Today we might get to the rental car...only

:seeya:

Surely not that far along this long and winding road? :floorlaugh:

Betcha Nurmi will drag it out until after the long weekend, so the jury is not left with visions of Jodi at the scene, and just to rattle the prosecution more. :twocents:

Has he said This? I was hoping he would clear this up.

Although I'm not sure I believe everything he says. The other day he said he wasn't even at convention when that one fight over him took place, but it sounds like he was and Travis ran into him in the bathroom. Still, I believe he never got the email -- if he did, Jodi would have just produced the email she sent him, rather than whatever she forwarded to Travis.

I think Jodi just wrote "Fwd:" in the subject line and sent it to Travis to make him think she sent it to Abe -- probably as a way of pressuring him into cutting contact with Deanna.

minor, wouldn't this be proven quite easily simply by checking JA's computer records? I can't see Nurmi intentionally lying about something he knows can be proven false.
I'm glad Juan questioned her though! Loved that look on her face, and bet she's thinking about all the other questions he's going to ask her.
SWEET!!

I'll bet Nurmi is tired ... his day does not end in court. I can guarantee he is over at the jail rehearsing with Jodi to all hours.

"Now Jodi ... when I say A, you say B. When I bring up March 3, 2008, don't forget to mention the pedophilia. When I bring you Exhibit 449, don't forget to mention the fake choking incident."

"And Jodi ... don't worry about Martinez. I'll object to everything he says and disrupt the proceedings so much the jury will be lost."

And so on ...

How did you know I missed Sky in the hearing this morning. Thanks.

Is Sky Hughes going to be called for the Prosecution on cross?
Can anyone fill me in on what they think Sky's testimony could provide the State? Probably that the Hughes didn't want Jodi in their home anymore, I'm guessing.

From what I can figure Defense will ask why the Hughes had Jodi to their home, if they knew sex was going on in their Mormon home?

In general, I don't know much about why she wasn't on their lists before, and if she'll be called to testify for sure now. I'd appreciate if anyone can fill me in further.

It kind of seems to me that Nurmi is being somewhat of a bully toward Sky. Yes, Sky and Chris called Nurmi a "snake" and said that he "lied" It's not against the law to form an opinion of a defender in a DP case. Seems like Nurmi attempted to make more out of it than what it actually was. He seemed so childish yesterday in the hearing and when it didn't go his way he acted even more childish (ie telling Jodi she didnt have to say sorry to Juan) I'm sure he thinks he 'fixed Sky's wagon' when he ordered that she can't watch the live stream of the trial. Juan made Nurmi look incompetent when he explained the 'rules' that both sides had the right to contact witnesses... blah blah blah. Iirc there was a problem with Sky having to be there in person and they wanted to contact her via phone but since she hadn't testified before the judge said she had to be there... and she was on the stand a whopping 15 minutes tops? Sheeesh! It really looks like Nurmi is being unfair to the Hughes. *MOO* Sort of expected Nurmi to do the curly shuffle yesterday. lol Yes, it was funny seeing him frustrated.

Listening to the sex tape was the first time I felt that the chances of a hung jury were slim to none. It made me believe she was likely to get the death penalty. Unless there is someone really crazy on that jury, there is no way she will walk or get a second chance at trial. IMO.

I don't think she'll walk or get a second chance at trial either, though I'm not sure the sex tape will make the difference one way or another.

After yesterday's trudge through texts I'm thinking snapshot of where the jury stands as of yesterday would be for 1st degree murder, but against the death penalty. The judge gets to choose what kind of life sentence- if it gets to her my guess is she'd choose natural life (life without parole).

Get your tar and feathers ready, but I think as of today I would vote the same way if I sat on the jury. They don't have all the info we do about Travis or the defendant or much else. They are hearing that Travis was still saying nice things to her/having phone sex/talking about visiting her AFTER the stalking and tire slashing and FB hacking. They're hearing that he did and said all that and in alternative next breaths sounded verbally abusive. Unless Juan can prove otherwise (and I hope he can), they'll believe Travis opened his door to her on June 3.

I think it possible the jury could conclude that while Travis in no way deserved to be murdered,it is difficult to see him 100% as a victim because of the verbal abusive stuff and the degrading sex (whether the defendant asked for it or not) and because he kept allowed her back in, even knowing she was capable of violence, and as he said himself, that she hated him more than she loved him. Lock her up forever, yes, but put her to death, no.

For myself, I'd be good with life without parole-she wouldn't be able to hurt anyone else-but will be flipping upset with anything less.

You guys see this from Dr, D?

SEARCY: OK. Well, when this all first, when -- well, here is basically this. I said help or hurt. Here is the hurt part. When the night Travis died, I got a call from Jodi at 3:30 a.m. in the morning, crying hysterically that Travis was dead. When this happened, I asked her what happened, how she was, where she was.

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1302/13/ddhln.01.html

But now, since JA admitted the obvious -- i.e., that she killed TA -- Gus Searcy's testimony, much to his chagrin, has no value.

I now invoke my 5th Amendment privilege not to incriminate Gus Searcy. :floorlaugh:

I know where you are coming from! :seeya: I swore I wouldn't watch another trial after the Anthony mess. But there are soooo many things in this trial that remind me of Casey and I got sucked back in. :what:

I, too, hope the outcome is different, but that Florida jury shook my belief that justice will be served.:banghead:

He will probably go to June 3 then have to jump back to 2006. UUggghhhhhhhh

I'm pretty confused, too. It's Nurmi's intent, I think. If the jury is confused in deliberation, it'll be hard to have a consensus. One juror is all it takes.

I don't hate defense attorneys. Or prosecutors for that matter. They are necessary. Every single person has the right to it. Even Casey Anthony. Frankly, I can understand why the jury came to the conclusion they did. Nobody needs to yell at me. This is not a statement of my opinion of her guilt/not.

I get what you're saying, but, IMO, none of that has anything to do with whether or not Jodi used reasonable force to "protect" herself.
