No kidding.
HO anybody would employ Nurmi to represent them after this is totally beyond me. I kow he didnt have a lot to work with but he comes across as so arrogant, totally unprofessional, and looks like his is asleep half the time.
Because she "thinks" that's what a battered woman would say. She has no clue.

Afternoon testimony
--Afternoon starts off with lawyers approaching the bench. <Not sure who asked to approach since I was running back to the computer at the time>
--Appears Willmott is doing the bulk of the conversation with the judge.
--This is a loooong sidebar and more than five minutes into it JA is shown leaning on the witness stand with her hand on her forehead. Hard to tell what is going on with her because she has the "hair curtain". She uncovers her face and she has not been crying. She continues to stare into space. Judge hands a piece of paper to Wilmott who then reads it. Wilmott hands it back to the judge who appears to be writing something on it and then hands it back to Wilmott. Martinez hands a paper to the judge who looks at it and places it on her desk in front of Wilmott who is flipping through papers. The judge hands some papers to Nurmi.
--Sidebar ends and Nurmi is at the witness stand whispering to Jodi.
--JM says that in addition to sending flowers JA also sent a letter to TA's family. The letter was written on July 28, 2008. JA says it was TA's birthday.
--JM asking about interviews with 48 hours. JA granted two interviews. Yreka interview was August 5, 2008. JM plays the interview. Exhibit 470.
--Travis' family deserves to know what happened, and since I am the one person....they'll know what went down....if it was my brother I would want to know. I feel that above all things they deserve to know what happened and they deserve to hear what went down. Interviewer asks if she ever reached out to them and told them. JA says that she called his grandmother and expressed her sympathies to her, sent her 20 white irises, chose irises because Travis was one of the names that Travis talked about naming a daughter if he had one. Also wrote the family a letter...something very simple, short and sweet, left her phone number and if they needed anything
--Letter was 18 pages long.
--JA tells the family that the people that did it were a male and a female. JM says so you lied to them. JA says yes...JM says and you put it in writing.
--JM asks JAif they deserved that lie.
--JA wasn't sure because the alternative was worse. The alternative to what was worse? JM says you didn't have to send them a letter where you set out your fabrications did you? JM says that it was actually done to make you feel better. JA says she was encouraged to do it. JA says that it was her choice. JM says that just because somebody encouraged you is that that an excuse to lie?
--re: incidents involving physical violence that she testified to, JM asking her about going over to Travis' house in August 2007...where she went to the back part of his house and looked inside his house and by the light of the television she was able to see he was making out with an unknown female who was rehooking her bra.
--The next day in August 2007 she went to TA's house, they weren't dating, JA says they weren't exclusively dating. JA says it's about terminology, they weren't boyfriend/girlfriend. JM asks JA about TA being with another woman and she feels she has the right to go and confront him.
--JM asking her about another incident from January 2008 where she claims TA broke her finger. Also claimed physical violence in March 2008 when she told TA she was moving to California. They were in the car and arguing and JA claims that TA hit her on the side of the neck. JM asks JA if that were a lie. JA says no. JM reminds her that she kept a journal for that day.
--JM hands JA her journal entries and she reads them to herself.
--Journal entry is from Sunday March 8, 2008. Martinez asks to have the journal entry entered into evidence. Nurmi objects, wants to see the entire journal to see what was removed. Nurmi reads for a while and then asks the judge to approach.

--JM confirms that JA's signature is there...JA says her initials "JAA".

--Entry is for Sunday March 2, 2008. "Well, I didn't get back to writing last night, let's see Friday I went over to TDoggs (TA's nickname) for a while to clean and shortly thereafter he went rock climbing with Mimi Hall, their third date, or 2 1/2 really....."
--JM is asking JA whether or not the relationship is over. JA says they weren't getting married.
--JM asks JA where she fell asleep. JA says on the love sac upstairs.
--"we ended up not going but he bought me breakfast......." "On the way back home I told him about my plans to move back to Yreka.........."
--JA says that she was closing the relationship and JM asks her if there would be no more sex.
--"Travis and I talked some more in his car" where is the place where JA says he backhanded her. JA writes about their conversaton in the car but it does not say anything about TA hitting her.
--JA says she would never write that.
--JM is saying it isn't there but you are telling me that it did happen. JM says that because you never wrote anything in there it didn't happen. JM says "it didn't happen did it ma'am". Nurmi objects, argumentative, asks to approach. Another sidebar.

--JM asks if the physical contact was the problem, and JA says it was part of the problem. JM asks her about the phone sex from when she was in Yreka. JA says it's not okay for her religion.
--JM now asking about the Mormon religion, there is family home evening (FHE) meetings on Monday nights. JA says the night depends on the ward. JA says she usually worked on Monday nights.
--JA says she only knows what happens at the FMEs she attended.
--JA writes how she gave TA a hug and then TA turned his head and their lips met. JA writes that it was a series of very tender, very slow kisses. JM asks her if there is anything about a backhand.
<missed a couple of minutes of testimony, due to a phone call>
--Journal entry about helping TA clean up for a UFC party. Then Lonnie is mentioned in the journal.
--JA saw the UFC event at Lonnie's house. Then that evening she got home and TA called and they spoke for 1.5 hours until they were both sleepy. There is no indication in the journal about any physical abuse. JA states in her journal that she loves him. JM asks JA if the journal corroborates what she has accused Travis of doing. JA says "that was the goal".
--JM says there is no corroboration anywhere of the physical abuse.
--JA says that there are her injuries. JM asks her for a photograph of her injuries so they can put this to bed.
--JM asks JA for evidence of these injuries. JA says not to her knowledge. JM asks her if there is any corroboration....any photos...any writings....any police reports....any medical reports? JM says there are some text messages.

Say.....on the Caylee threads there used to be some really nice folks who would set up a bar and snacks for us. I was really new then and mostly afraid to say anything, but I would sneak in and grab a cocktail every now and then, or a snack when needed. What happened to those people who did that?! I would love to have that here, and I think we need and deserve something like that!

JA is one of the most frighting people I have ever seen. Her mind must run at warp speed to keep up with all of her BS stories, and then be able to have a respond.
