I can't help feel a tiny bit of sympathy for the defense lawyer. Think of all the tedious hours he had to spend listening to his client to prepare her for trial. Now he must sit and watch a capable lawyer tear down this house that he has spent so much time constructing. And the rules of courtroom behaviour say that he should continue to be professional and show no reaction. No wonder he is having such a difficult time living up to the task. Especially as his client seems so bent on tearing down all his hard work.

Personally I think we did see a slight crack in Jodi today and that was after Juan made the remark about how much pain Travis would have felt after she stabbed him. It was the only time I actually saw her "go into herself" so to speak. She was not looking at the jury or anyone else and in those few brief seconds she heard his screams of pain and saw all of his blood in front of her as she murdered him. I do not think that her chin quiver and tears were fake at that point but as I stared at her I could almost see her shove those sight and signs out of her mind. I think it actually made her mad because when she came back after the lunch break she looked angry and defiant and like she hated Juan for doing that to her. I think Juan knew it and he knew that she was once again blaming someone other than herself.

Good post Melly - I agree 1000%

The prosecution will win this case if he goes into the excrutiating, morbid details of each of her knive thrusts, the neck slashing and the "Screw You Travis" gunshot to his head

Arias has to think and talk about this, as uncomfortable it may be, but this is crucial

I want to see her get pizzed off, angry, explode

Everyone wants to see this woman's Dark Side in real life

:cheer: Go Casey Jordan!

She says that women are NOT sympathetic to lying, cagey Jodi.

I like Casey Jordan too, was wondering where she's been, haven't seen her in eons.

I've been thinking of this for a while. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if this was not her first murder. In fact, it's because she's such a liar and that she made that statement, that makes me question it all the more.

Hmm... or maybe it was her first solo murder...
Why do all these grown men want to protect her?

I don't know if anyone has wondered about this or if this has been discussed, I apologize in advance if this has. The threads are so long and I have a hard time keeping up LOL

Jodi had a rental car. Why did she have a case of water from Costco in her trunk??? Her receipts show that she purchased water and other beverages along the way. I think this was part of her PREMEDITATION planning it all out well in advance. She knew ahead of time that she would need to clean up, Rather than risk going into an establishment being seen and maybe getting caught on a video thus bringing attention to herself. If I were traveling, I would have the water in the front or back seat so it would be available. Not the trunk!!!!!!!!!

I'd have water for drinking (some in a small cooler within arms reach for sure) and water in gallon jugs - for the car, perhaps, or splashing my face with, etc. I've never driven through the desert by myself - it can be very desolate in places (or it used to be).

Your comment about avoiding any cameras/video is a great point - and probably one of the reasons she brought so much gas with her from CA (and probably water, too - premeditation).

BUT...

I have a problem with this (meaning JA's story - not your theory!), and I take it a step further... back. To the house.

I absolutely do - not - see... and don't believe JA was not clean when she went through the house and left. It is completely ridiculous to think her hands were bloody (I suppose she could have put shoes on bloody feet, but I don't believe that).

There is only one small spot of blood on the washing machine - the rest of the house has no blood evidence. None. I think she removed bloody clothing in the bathroom, showered over Travis and somehow covered her feet until she could hit the clean carpet in the bedroom to get dressed. I think she did a load of towels and some clothing that had blood on them (because they were in the bathroom) - but covered them while carrying them with a clean item, then tossed the camera in and bleach to remove any blood.

Nothing can convince me she left that house, closing/locking doors behind her... while still light out - maybe nearing dusk - with bloody hands and feet, in a daze (bloody clothes, too? Knife and gun?), drove *any* distance with bloody hands (stopped at a red light leaving the neighborhood - that would catch another driver's attention.

The dazed driving and suddenly seeing her hands and feet bloody somewhere in the desert and washing off with bottled water - is NOTHING but a way for her to avoid talking about what happened. Period.

Unfortunately, it seems she told Det. Flores an awful lot of ninja hijinks that matched the forensics... indicating she absolutely knows what happened and isn't missing anything memory-wise, even though she was vague she was accurate - she HAD to be to make the ninja story believable!!.

But - I'm just guessing too. :) I don't think JA is ever going to explain things. So all we may ever have are theories with this. Grrr... frustrating.

I thought about water in trunk but that when she got the water out of the trunk wouldn't she have seen the plate was upside down..

Good point in all her planning for murder trip renting car, going to get has cans, getting nails &/or hair done, trying to see if sparks there with ex, text/calling Ryan make sure he's still interested in her coming up & prime him for a love sack session... when did she have time to stop at Costco... better yet did she have membership or did someone else???

ITA all good questions!
Curious about the Cali tags.. if you turn them upside down do they reflect a different number if seen from far away?
Taking the front tag Off herself would make sense too If AZ, NV and UT do not have front tags.. anyone know? TIA

Are you kidding, there has been three at least so far. One of them because Prosecution dropped the camera and Nurmi accused him of "destroying evidence".
Thank you for pointing that out. I must of missed that part. It's times like these that I wished I didn't have a 9-5 job. grrrr...

A "swim" in ice cold Lake Superior does sound like a nice little adventure for JA, no?

No way, I'm in MN too, she can stay far away!:what:

but if I weren't...yeah it sounds like a great adventure :coldcase:

It's good you have a 9-5, because paying attention to this trial can lead to some unhealthy habits. Stalking this board for updates being one.

I've been away since the last day of direct...unfortunately not for anything good, my very dear grandma passed away. I've been able to listen to maybe half of the testimony since then on Youtube and I have to say JA angers me even more with grief fresh on my heart...how dare she further hurt TA's family and those flowers to TA's grandma, despicable!

Anyway, I'm glad to be back in the company of my insightful and good humored WSer's.

It's worth repeating over and over that Juan is a seasoned veteran. He's been doing this for decades, he's put at least one other young woman on death row. Apparently he usually tries defendants on his own without co-counsel. It's obvious he's prepared-- he doesn't refer to notes, he knows the facts of the case better than anyone, he knows the law inside and out. He is prepared in ways that we probably don't consider or in ways that we underestimate.... I think he knows his juries very well. Whether he conducted voir dire on his own or had someone specializing in that selection, he is quite aware of who is on that jury. Personally I think he is aware of how he's conducting himself, how he's presenting evidence, how much he's putting on, and I think he has an excellent handle on how the jury is receiving his case as well as the defense's case.

:rocker: Excellent and worth repeating ...

He is amazing !

And he has the patience of a "Saint" having to deal with that woman and her indignant and defiant attitude !

:great: Looking forward to Round 3 tomorrow !

:great:

I have been a court reporter for 20 years. And I hear a lot of nonsense, well Jodi has topped it all.
Other than a man who was asked if he played cricket.

His answer was, "Crickets, I don't hear any crickets."

Juan seems extremely "black and white" and life isn't that way, there are lots of "gray" area's.

In my opinion: Truth and Lies are "black and white"....there are no "gray" areas when seeking the Truth. MOO

Finally home. Wow, didn't get in court today but what a night. Met all kinds of WS posters, hung out til 9ish, caught up on talk talk talk of the day. Now gotta catch up with the morning's testimony. What a day........

Thanks for your imput. It's interesting to hear how this "testimony" sounds to a court reporter. Have you ever heard anyone evade questions, nitpick words or spar so much during testimony?

Grimacing, chewing his finger, and daydreaming about the day Jodi won't be his client anymore?

And I know I saw Nurmi with his eyes closed, looked like he was nodding off. Then not long after that, JM admitted something into evidence, no objection by Nurmi. Then when asked (by the judge?, not sure) if that was agreeable with the defense, Nurmi just mumbled something like, 'I guess so, it's already in now'. :what:

WOW  good observations and points from All on this subject!

ITA when JA talks too much she is making up the story.. believe there was No Water either, let alone a case in trunk.. story to support she ran out of the house and forgot everything yada yada

Noticed also JA hasn't mentioned the 'fog' again yet when ample opportunity to do so today, instead, she says she wasn't 'all there' and Juan jumped on that one pronto! Gotta luv him!!

How can people complain about Juan's style when Jodi is prepped to not cooperate with yes and no answers? This is obviously a game to her sparring like she's a intelligent, moral person. Give me a break.

I sat through defense's 8 or 9 days of ridiculous, and often downright filthy, sex talk which I felt was a blatant mockery in the courtroom. Anal was said over 12,000 times! I have absolutely no complains in how the State is chiseling through Jodi's lies especially to clear Travis's name.

<...>

yes! yes! ... and jumping off of this.. in the interview with Det. Flores, she made such a fuss out of how she'd have worn gloves...

i think she actually brought some with her.. i think she intended to use them. and perhaps she did, but the left hand gloves ripped due to the knife blade.. maybe she put them on after killing him.. so she could touch door handles and such..
