Juan, may take it a bit far, but look what he is bringing out of her. The jury is seeing someone who is disingenuous, combative and deliberately noncooperative. She will often take 2 or 3 minutes to ultimately grant him the point. Does she look like a beaten down abused woman to anyone?

  • #162
That's my understanding too. It's a first-degree murder case only. Does anyone know for sure?

yes, the document filed indicates they can find her gulity of 1 of 2 things.

1st degree murder with premeditation

or

1st degree murder

(so w/premeditation carries the death penalty, and just 1st degree carries Life without parole)

she came to them prior to trial (maybe in the years before) wanted to plea to 2nd degree murder. The prosecutor said. No way

I'm thinking today that Jodi is trying to prep for the DV experts....... to show when she is upset, she forgets! That IMHO is much about what "today's script" is.

Some Lawyer on IS said he has advice for JM...."it's like potty training a puppy, you got to give them a knockdown to get answers"

Yes...and puppy training can be a long and messy process. And this is a very bad puppy :banghead:

So Smirking Jodi showed up today. Are they advising her of how to act each day based on public opinion from the days before? This reminds me very much of observing politicians, especially during an election cycle.

In the brain numbing part I did see at lunch, was Nurmi giving her obvious hand signals?
I thought I saw him flap his hand, I could have misinterpreted it.

NURMI is definitely giving Jodi signals--he was yesterday as well. She is also looking at him frequently. I guess it was Lurch's idea to have her smirk and play mind games today--and it was a bad one. It makes us all hate thier psycho client even more.

I'm a little behind (watching on DVR) and they are at the point where JA is having trouble answering questions again b/c of her brain getting scrambled and JM is being too aggressive and it is affecting her memory.

Why doesn't JM comment about how maybe she is having a hard time with her memory b/c she has so many lies to keep straight?

FYI - The married woman was on NG Show before.

PETERSEN: "He was upset about it, but it was just kind of crazy. He would -- she hacked some e-mails between he and I, and I was married and moved on with my life and so they weren`t inappropriate e-mails by any means. We were just two friends that kept in touch after he moved, and, you know, she was very jealous, very jealous of these e-mails that he would -- you know, he and I sent back and forth occasionally."

For what it is worth - if it was as bad this morning as everyone is saying (I didn't see the testimony) I think Juan needs to slow down and at the end of every question say "the answer is yes or no" and just stand there calmly reminding her the answer is "yes" or "no" until she is forced to answer. I think then the judge will have to step in.

I hope he starts asking about the MURDER after lunch. I think we are all ready to hear about that.

I know I am! Good heavens! I trust that JM has a plan, but he might want to hit the FFWD button.

On the other hand, if Travis dealt with this on a regular basis, he really MAY have banged his head against the door! Nobody on that jury would blame him!

And when she is not she PREMEDITATES MURDER!!!

The self-appointed St. Jodi of Arias is about to be coronated the Queen of Obfuscation.

It has clearly worked for her in the past and so once again, she relies on prevarication and obfuscation.

Yesterday, she said that she could remember what she said.

Today, she's back to claiming that she can't remember what she just said because, "You're (Juan Martinez is) scrambling my brain."

I don't understand why the judge is allowing the witness to be non-responsive and argumentative.

She is making a mockery of Judge Stephens's Court.

Q: Is there a legal reason that JM keeps asking: " ma'am do you have a problem with your memory"?

And she's back to the same combative/argumentative attitude she had last Friday. She is really coocoo. And in her 48 hours or Dateline interview seems really psycho. She is getting creepier and creepier to me (only started following about a week ago). I was following her sob story/testimony when her attorney was questioning her. I was falling for her story but her attitude and twisting of words, arguing semantics does not go over well for me and creates me to dislike her.

I only pray the jury feels the same way.

This is my concern. I'm not faulting Juan at all. But I'm afraid that by Jodi fighting, arguing and not answering questions at all that the jury is just going to tune out. It was literally exhausting to watch this mornings session.

I'm afraid that Jodi is going to make listening to this cross unbearable for the jury and that even if Juan can score major points the jury is just going to tune out completely.

I am concerned about this too. IMO Juan should rein in all his questioning about Jodi's lies because Jodi's lies infect 99% of her life. He is making points about how truly aggressive this defendant is and this does make her battered woman defense look like the lie that it is.

So when kids show some signs of this, pre-adolescence, what is the recommended treatment modality? Is there one?

If the child has been diagnosed with attachment disorder, typical parenting won't work. In "typical" children, they obey rules because they care about their attachment with their caregivers - they don't want to let them down. As a result, when the caregiver enforces rules, the child's attachment is what brings the child back around. However, when a child can't attach, they don't care about any relationship with the parent. They don't care at all if anyone finds their behavior offense. So, normal rewards and consequences have absolutely no impact. For these kids, we must establish attachment first. Once there is attachment, the behavior takes care of itself.

If the attachment never happens, you get a child without empathy and conscience and an extreme need to control at all costs.

Attachment parenting is extremely challenging because the parent is trying to build a relationship with a child who is continually fighting against the relationship and fighting for control. It takes 24/7 care and supervision. And, the parents are easily drained. The younger the child, the more potential to change brain patterns, and the more likely success.

It is hard, hard, hard. But, from personal experience, I will tell you that, after years of trying and working for a child, it is very rewarding when you see the first signs of conscience and empathy.

My Hubby took the day off......ugh. He can't understand why I am so aggrevated with Arias and her crap! He better be nice or I'll show him Travis's photos.

Lol, he already saw the pic of the rear end shot of Arias.....and said "what the heck? what's wrong with her hoo haa?"

My husband asked what the hell is that....pointed at it...and I had the man with two brains, Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr when he pointed and said he never wanted to see that again.

Maybe they can hold her " in contempt"
