The words they used were "not to observe" overweight people. It's in the part about controlling your weight. I believe in positive thinking, but I do not believe that bad things will happen to you because you thought them into existence. As a cancer survivor, I take issue with that book saying I brought my cancer on myself because I didn't think enough positive thoughts.

COMPLETELY agree on the cancer part...some illnesses can definitely be self-manifested, but I would never put cancer in that category. Having a positive attitude and focus on good outcomes is what I chose to understand from the Law of Attraction. The negative stuff was a bit cooky and made me :waitasec: a lot for the very reason you mention. :)

Ever watch the movie Double Jeapardy (one of my favs) with Ashley Judd? She learns the ropes how to beat the system while in jail - from none other than a convicted murdering lawyer.

Although Jodi will never testify to it, I think the reality is she leaned the ropes of "what works" while in the system. She learned from fellow inmates what works or what doesn't - and she likely learned from them how to sneak messages out to accomplices (cough...Matt) who could help her forge letters. Especially when those accomplices are self-proclaimed media specialists (ie., digital arts media...photoshopping, etc).

If/when asked, Jodi will likely give some BS that she received counseling while in jail and discovered she had an undiagnosed battered women syndrome and started piecing things together.

Sure, and she has had years to pour over the state's evidence and create a defense which she has tailored to the same.

DH is computers doctor---he got it fixed--!!!!!!!! He just gave the heavy sign I think while I'm in Georgia my puter will be in intesive care in his office...he just doesn't understand the fascination with this trial--just doesn't get it---I should be packing but here I am....

I never heard of the word. She could of said semen but chose that word instead. I believe she chose that particular word for shock value..but that slang is not shocking to hear, even to a grandma like me.

What's shocking to this grandmas is that I keep hearing stuff that I have to google to find out what in the world that means....and I thought I was pretty 'with it'. And, to add insult to injury, I've been trying to google 'jazz'... I'm beginning to think we need a thread "For old people to ask questions about stuff so regular threads won't know they don't know!"

I never read "The Secret". Does it suggest that if your lover has rejected you that you should stab him 29 times, slit his throat from ear to ear and shoot him in the head? Just wondering...

I've never read it either, but 'looking on the bright side' and 'keeping a stiff upper lip' does not mean not accepting responsibility for one's actions, IMO.

(Funny - just realised that was one of Juan's issues yesterday!)

Did anyone else notice that yeasterday, Juan used the Court Reporter, Mike, to repeat questions Jodi had asked Juan to repeat?

I think it is of note because can use it to extract himself from the quibbling, take a rest and review his point and direction, all while his exact words are being slowly, calmly, and carefully are re-read exactly by someone else.

Brilliant strategy to defelect her defiant, aggreasive, evasiveness. He doesn't get "caught up" in the game, he steps back, allows the court reporter to do his job, and composes himself.

I think most folks would overlook this or not attach any importance to it, but (to me) it shows Juan is aware he gets caught in the weeds with her and it throws him off track, and he found a solution.

YES! I loved that Juan Martinez did that! I hope he keeps doing it. And I really liked it when he gave her back her own questions. I think Juan Martinez is doing great.

I do understand a bit. It seems she learned how to manipulate so young and to understand the powers of sexual maniuplation so deeply. She may have been sexually molested at such a very young age to have made herself into the monster she is "total self preservation". Maybe as young as 6 years old.....there had to be signs; her parents may have been either to poor or to naive to get her the best of help during those formative years. Or it may be something as simple as a genetic disturbance. I don't know but I do think the jury is ready to hear the murder moments from the State side and have her arrogance show through loud and clear. Sad :(
Honestly, I believe if there were any evidence Jodi was sexually abused we'd have heard it by now because it could, for some, mitigate the cold, manipulative, unemotional countenance so consistent with psychopathy. I think for many parents of psychopaths their initial behaviors are easily confused with spoiled brat syndrome. Think Veruca Salt of Willy Wonka fame. That's what a budding psychopath looks like as a child. Problem is, so do spoiled brats. ;)

What I bolded tends to negate the powerful manipulations of a psychopath. Many are more than capable, for years if not decades, of manipulating even those closest to them through a series of psychological manipulators. Some include, but certainly are not limited to, guilt tripping, emotional blackmail, deception, gaslighting, crazy making, etc. Even young psychopaths are capable, to an extent, of displaying these behaviors. She would have become better as time progressed of knowing just what triggers to press.

A psychopath reads a person. The better they know a person the better the read. If Jodi, for example, knew her mother felt guilty over having left her with a babysitter it's quite likely in an argument Jodi would have said 'Well I might not be this messed up if you hadn't left me with a babysitter.' Or threatening suicide if they attempted to reign in bad behavior and the like.

There are signs of psychopathy, of course. But as humans - as sentient and compassionate human beings psychopaths are almost unfathomable. It is very, very easy to want to see any other reasonable explanation before accepting that someone you love is essentially soulless. For many loved ones of psychopaths it is an acceptance they never reach, preferring instead to keep themselves steeped in denial than face a truth that has the potential to destroy everything they believe they know.

does anyone know what else was stolen from the g-parents home besides the gun?

I think $40. None of the other guns or a pile of quarters that were on top of the gun cabinet were stolen. I'm pretty sure JA claimed that the money stolen was hers.

I have to say, a camera taking pictures on it's own of a killer is like something out of a stephen king novel.

How did that happen? [rhetorical question]

It has to be an act of God, IMO.

Yep, every time I think about this camera -- not only snapping pics on its own, but still containing loads of evidence -- a single thought comes to mind: GOD DOESN'T LIKE UGLY.

A guest on Dr. Drew last night picked right up on it... Julie Christopher (sp?) said she had dinner with TA & JA about two weeks before he died. This woman says an awful chill washed over her, as she's an intuit by profession.

She knew she was picking up powerful vibes about TA. So she took him away from the table (i.e., Jodi) to inform him that a dark cloud was hanging over him -- but angels were also watching over him.

As soon as she said this, I thought again about the camera.

Note: The woman said twice that she brought TA into the LADIES RESTROOM to tell him this in private. Odd place to bring a man for a quickie spiritual talk. :waitasec:

Not to mention Jodi was probably trying to listen-in.

At this point it seems to be ego driven pay back for a little man. Time to move on.

I'm wondering how much of what he's doing is on behalf of TA's family, sitting in that courtroom listening to her spin webs of lies painting him as a woman-beating rapist and pedophile.

Still need to ensure that the jury focuses on her careful planning, road trip, photographic slaughter-murder, concocted alibis and layers of lies upon lies to which she holds until they become completely untenable.

He needs to get the more minor matters out of the way so that he can finish with a climax; i.e., the actual torture-murder, replete with the photographic evidence that she so carelessly and thoughtlessly supplied as per her too-clever-by-half modus operandi.
