Don't forget: This is a woman who fired her DT and wanted to represent herself. On that stand, she is acting not just like a witness, but as her own attorney. Jodi Arias wants to prove to the world just how smart she is. She uses legal terms like "compound question" and banters back and forth about word meanings and definitions because she wants to PROVE she's smarter than Juan Martinez. Her arrogance demands it. He is the only male who has ever challenged her and not been taken in by her antics.

Jodi is a high school dropout. (No knock against that. My dad dropped out in 11th grade, joined the Navy and is STILL the smartest man I know.) Jodi wants to be seen as educated, sophisticated and intelligent. She helped Travis with editing/typing his book. She wanted CREDIT, not just because of the other woman who received accolades from him. She NEEDED that validation that she was his intellectual equal.

Today, when Juan Martinez began having the court reporter read back the questions, her demeanor changed. Her shoulders slumped. Her jaw set. He wasn't playing ball anymore. And having her read to like a child wasn't serving it's purpose. She QUICKLY began to understand the questions better.

It's not fun when you have to start playing catch all by yourself. He did what he needed to do to show her as an aggressive, combative woman who would stand her ground against him - a man she COMPARED to Travis Alexander. Juan Martinez knows EXACTLY what he is doing. :twocents:

Oh I agree whole hardheartedly!!! I would not be surprised if he consulted with behaviorist on how to cross this type of personality to add to his arsenal of expertise of his years of a prosecutor. I definitely would not play her game.... learning that in therapist school lol aka University of Michigan and University of Louisville and yeeeeeeeeeeears of continuing of education as follow up. Never never play their game.. or they will drag into their abyss.

IMHO and partly from my former profession Addiction Specialist (retired)

My opinion is it was premeditated, for the reasons that you stated and more. Look at how close she was to getting away with it. No one saw her. Nothing to put her at his house. I doubt he knew she was coming, so he would not have told anyone. No receipts, no cell towers pinging, --how would you prove it was her?

Just an act of God--snapping pictures, a camera carelessly left behind, a palm print and her blood deposited on one wall.

act of god- "the ghost in the machine"

I had always heard this and was wondering how /if this fits into this case.

<<First degree murder is the killing of another with premeditation. Premeditation is a fully formed, conscious purpose to kill. One common misconception is that premeditation requires a plot or plan to kill. People conjure images of the serial killer stalking his victim for weeks before he finally kills her. While that would clearly be premeditation, the scope is not nearly so narrow. Premeditation can be formed in an instant. All that is necessary is that the person knew what he was doing and knew that the result would likely be death to the other person. >>

Lunch wasn't the problem. She didn't like the questions. I am sure that somebody would have brought her food, is she requested. They are sent a sack lunch when away from the jail. She either forgot it or didn't want it when she left. That won't happen again...you can sure of that.

I think they should have recessed a given her something from the cafeteria...any attorney would have put up the money. She is a scam.

I was reading some of Travis's blogs and he really was a special person. How dare her take his life away from the earth.

Holy cow! There are tons of talking heads talking serious carp about JM! Wow, just wow. I'm not an attorney, but I didn't expect so many to be SO critical of him.

I, too, noticed the growing number of legal experts who're critical of JM, including one I really admire: Mark Geragos. IIRC, he called JM a "clown."

I cannot imagine JA getting off lightly, no matter what. But I do think JM can inadvertently factor in getting the DP defeated.

I imagine JM thought it a smart ploy to get so personal with JA yesterday, but he went too long, too far. I'm, of course, talking about their infamous "Who's On First" mind-bending exchange.

I'm sure he's was trying to make "the other Jodi" come out, so the jury could see her head spin around like "The Exorcist." But it didn't work, and in fact, may have backfired.

In some peoples' eyes, the only person acting possessed in court yesterday was JM. He kind of stole the show, made it all about HIM (not Jodi, not Travis). At some point, this could work in Jodi's favor.

Lonnie somebody , former prosecutor , said something I totally dug on the show last night- that Martinez gets more from JA when he sets up a Jodi vs Jodi scenario (video clips , texts , photos) vs Jodi vs Juan Martinez. I think she loves the sparring with him and it muddies things. The evidence clarifies things. I think today is for crime scene photos (ugh). At least tomorrow and leave the jury w that for the weekend.

I know who you are talking about. She was a prosecutor in California. I like her. She is leveled head not taking things over the top just for ratings.

In closing argument, when JM is speaking to the jury, he can state the facts plainly and clearly. He will not have to hop all over the place; there will be no cliffhangers. It is my understanding that during closing arguments it is rare for the opposing attorney to object, so that narrative can flow freely. I do believe JM will tie up his entire case with a neat bow for the jury, and any fears that the jury may be confused or missing important things will be put to rest.

So much is being said on the TV shows about Juan "yelling" at Jodi and being aggressive.

He is not going to play "softball" with her like her attorney did with her on her direct examination. The prosecutor and the state of Arizona do not see her as an "abused" victim of Travis who killed him in "self-defense". The prosecutor, state, LE and the family are outraged and are sure, based on the facts of the case the investigation revealed that Arias is a cold-blooded killer and pre-meditated his murder. So why in the world would he be playing "nice" with her??

She is a transparent liar who concocted 3 stories/lies about Travis' murder. She is putting forth the 3rd lie/story to cover her a$$. It is a concocted story put together with her defense attorneys and a "domestic violence expert (s)". She read the "textbook" and has "peppered" her testimony on the stand with domestic violence "textbook" catch phrases.

Juan should be getting his "digs" in about her memory, now, while she is on cross, after listening to every minute detail she spewed, going back to high school, and he should be calling her out on her BS stories of abuse, throwing her own words and actions in her face. He should be, and is, pointing out how preposterous her stories of sexual and violent abuse are.

Some don't like Juans "style"?? Too bad! Why in the he!! would he treat her kindly and with "kid gloves" (like Nurmi), when he does not believe Arias killed in self-defense??

And, if Arias was "tough enough" to stab Travis 29 times, slt his throat and shoot him in the face, then surely she is "tough enough" to withstand cross examination!

They have NOT proved premeditatin which they need to do. I was just looking at the shoe in that link just posted on this page. Was that the type shoe Jodi was wearing? Has she ever worn them in any picture we have seen. to me they look like disposablt type shoes.

What happened to Jodi's camera as I am sure she brought hers into the house. She was snooping around and found travis brought a nice shiny new one. I bet she wanted it. I also bet he didn't want any photos of her or him like that on his spanky new toy. I think he was not happy with her using it and I bet those filthy pics of her was something she did when he wasn't there and put it on automatic timer. When he saw the pics she took of them on the bed, that is when he said they look like a 6 yr took them. This really got her very mad. He probably told her to delete them and she didn't till after the crime.

New cameras come with a little memory (in case u don't have a card) I imagine the pics that were on there were inbedded on the software inside the computer, very limited. At least that is how it worked with my new camera.

She took adavantage of him being in the shower. She got the gun and knife out of her bag and decided to taunt him for what he said about her camera skills. He probably thought she had left and was on the road. So he was quite surprised. When he saw her crouched outside the glass shower door, can u imagine what was going through his head.

He tried to get to the bdrm to reach his cell, I'm sure. I wonder if this is when she was stabbing his back. When he could go no further, she pulled back his head and slit his throat. I keep thinking she was using a stilleto but don't know.

Juan needs to prove premeditatin and he hasn't yet. There is no doubt she went there to confront hiim and he didn't like it. She tried to get him to calm down by pulling the ole sex routing; that didn't work either. This infuriated her and her rage was out of control.

Did the SA provide any info to the jury about JA's grandmother's gun being stolen? That would be all that is needed. I didn't see the first part of the trial. Was the burglary admitted into evidence?

Isn't the fact that she stabbed him 28 times itself proof of pre-meditation? She could have stopped at anytime but did not.

Mark Geragos promised so much, so dramatically during opening statements (Scott Peterson trial) Delivered next to nothing. Scott Peterson is on death row.

(snipped for space)

He will get to the premeditation part. He is not done yet.

He is still disproving self-defense as well as disproving all the ugly allegations made against Travis.

Today I started to think the prosecutor is going way too far with arguing with her over every little lie. I think the jury knows she's a liar by now and it doesn't really matter what she says. She doesn't legally have to say anything. And she in no way said anything that supports self defense. But... The prosecutor needs to prove premeditation. Why don't he focus on how the gun got there...when/why she colored her hair....where did she park her car since the roommates didn't see it there....did she take the plates off her car. Come on now! Enough of the anal sex! Today felt like a waste of time and a rerun of yesterday!

It wasn't a waste of time. He needs a lot of these details for his rebuttal case and for his closing. It might seem like a bunch of meaningless drivel now, but he will fashion an important puzzle from all of it. For example, the anal sex anecdotes from when she was with Bobby. That is vital info, because part of their 'abuse' accusations involve Travis forcing himself upon her anally when he angrily 'spins her around' and bends her over his desk. NOW we know that she has been having anal sex, willingly, since high school.

The same importance holds with the text where she ASKS for a 'facial.' She was claiming that Travis abused her by 'debasing' her. But today we learned that she was happily requesting those types of 'experiences.' And we also saw several clips from 48Hours where those same points were hit home. In one, she said ' the sex was always mutual' [paraphrased.]

I know that everyone is getting sick of this annoying defendant, but she cannot be cross examined in the usual way. You said for example, ask her about where she parked, and what happened to the plates....She is NEVER going to tell the truth about anything like that. She'll stick to her ridiculous story about the skaters in Pasadena who messed with her tags while she was at Starbucks getting her strawberry frappe. Asking her that is useless, imo. She lies like a rug.

The only things he can 'ask' her about are things he already has evidence of. He has to ask her about the things that he can REFUTE with texts and journals and e-mails. Otherwise it is just a waste of time. JMO

Can you imagine the rabbit hole she will take him down if he tries to get her to testify about her various hair color changes? But he is going about it a different, painstaking way. By showing the jury now, exactly how often she lies and how ridiculous she is, they are setting up their rebuttal of the next witness, the Abuse Expert.

I believe Juan Martinez is doing an AWESOME job. I mean really Juan vs. Jodi........who decided to quit yesterday??? JA and her team are probably thinking about a new strategy. How many weeks on the stand and they are just now bringing up her "migraines" and "hunger".

Team Juan!!!!!!!

Atthelake,

I'm looking at this picture. I see it as a shoe on the threshold between the bathroom and the hall, stepping over the flashing separating the two rooms. The bathroom door is to the right.
I have been looking at this pic for awhile now. I see Travis head and nose in the very upper left corner of this photo, like she is turning his body to get it into the shower. You see her leg, up to the bent knee as she crouches over him, then that lighter color about mid screen top is the sole of a shoe or something.

RE premeditation: IMO, if JA had not killed Travis that day, she would have done it another day. I believe she wanted to go with him to Cancun and went there on June 4 to see if she could persuade him to take her. Not sure if she knew when she went there if Mimi had been invited, but if she did she thought she could make TA change his mind about taking Mimi. If she didn't know about Mimi going, I believe he told her that day. And with that she realized he was really moving on and nothing she could do would change that. So she did what she was fully prepared to do if things didn't go her way: She killed.

All JMO.

He is doing well, she is just helping him along, however confusing and annoying it may be.
She is proving she is not a weak woman when crossed, she says she can't remember things, yet in the next breath trying to trip Juan up with dates and what happened which she obviously remembers quite clearly. This reinforces in almost every sentence she is a liar. She is proving she is relentless when wanting to prove a point and is annoyed when someone is doing something or saying something she doesn't like. This isnt someone that sits down meekly and shuts TFU in a corner.

It is confusing at times, but that's what I am seeing so far. This is on her part as she is trying to confuse everything for the jury as she has nothing else left. "that's not right" I'm not saying that" "that's not what I said" that's all we hear, then after Juan questions her some more, we find out that's exactly what she is saying.

I am pretty much sure the Jury is feeling sympathetic to Juan right now, who wouldn't having to stand there and question HER!!!

This is also proving that she has no remorse for her actions, finding this amusing, the fact that she feels she is getting one over on Juan, Which we all know is not happening. You can tell this with her smirks and smiles she tries to hide. We can see this, so can the jury. There was one point that Nurmi is sat there s******ing at some of the things she came out with yesterday. Even her defense team is disgusting and unprofessional.

Juan would not be trying to prove pre-meditation if he had nothing to back this up. Like the above poster said he will get to doing this and its taking time because all all her ***** she is spewing, dragging it out and trying to confuse everyone.
