i think she already had the gun pointed at him in the time stamped photos, her story of him chasing her and her getting the gun is of course, another lie i'm waiting for JM to ask her to recite that story while showing those photos on the screens and asking " at which point did he chase you and tackle you , at which point did you run to the closet and get the gun" and "why was he sitting in the shower"?

sitting in the shower with his legs crossed......

Regarding the gun ... if McCartney was such a good friend of Arias and would never betray her, why didn't she seek his help in obtaining a non-traceable weapon, rather than stealing one from her grandparents ? This is even more puzzling to me as isn't he the one who supposedly forged the letters from TA to Arias ?

IDK? Maybe he's not the kind of person who would go along with her plan to murder someone, and she knew this? But, he is the kind of friend who would help after the fact.

Maybe she had MM steal the gun......maybe this is why she went by his house on the way?? Maybe MM will testify.....??

I agree, because JM is trying to do more than merely disprove her lies. He is showing the jury that she does not back down when cornered, and that she is confrontational and aggressive.

I could not agree more. I think you nailed it!!!!!!!! :rocker:

Isn't Hinkley the one that shot Reagan? Wasn't Iris the name of the hooker in played by Jodi Foster? is she using MOVIES ( taxi driver ) to embellish her details in her "memories"

:moo: I believe she is :moo:

My interpretation of Nurmi's chat with his client on the stand yesterday afternoon.

N: You are going off script, Jodi.

A: I know, but he bugs me.

N. Are you hungry?

A. A bit.

N. Do you get a headache when you are hungry?

A. Oh! Yes! Right! I have a terrible migraine.

Here is what I found on the ' legal thread' :

I think they charged felony murder for those jurors who might not find premeditation. And I think it's a good strategy to get a first degree murder conviction.

Interesting. So it's a back up so they won't have to resort to a lesser included if they fail to find premeditation? I get it.

Imo, the overkill alone shows premeditation. Its simple to me. You have to want someone dead to stab them 29 times, slit their throat from ear to ear, and then shoot them in the head. Had she just stabbed him once in the heart then maybe the jury will believe it wasnt premeditated but that is not what happened. She not only possessed the weapons she used them to carry out her premeditation.

No matter what JA conveniently tries to forget all of these methods show premeditation to kill the victim she was attacking.

The Judge said the felony murder stands because even if JA was allowed into Travis' home once she began to assault him she would no longer be considered an invited guest. This would be a felony assault that ended in murder.

The jury doesnt have to be unanimous on the two murder counts but IMO they will be and will vote for first degree premeditated murder. As long as all 12 vote either for first degree or felony murder she is elibile for death row.

imo

It wasn't a waste of time. He needs a lot of these details for his rebuttal case and for his closing. It might seem like a bunch of meaningless drivel now, but he will fashion an important puzzle from all of it. For example, the anal sex anecdotes from when she was with Bobby. That is vital info, because part of their 'abuse' accusations involve Travis forcing himself upon her anally when he angrily 'spins her around' and bends her over his desk. NOW we know that she has been having anal sex, willingly, since high school.

The same importance holds with the text where she ASKS for a 'facial.' She was claiming that Travis abused her by 'debasing' her. But today we learned that she was happily requesting those types of 'experiences.' And we also saw several clips from 48Hours where those same points were hit home. In one, she said ' the sex was always mutual' [paraphrased.]

I know that everyone is getting sick of this annoying defendant, but she cannot be cross examined in the usual way. You said for example, ask her about where she parked, and what happened to the plates....She is NEVER going to tell the truth about anything like that. She'll stick to her ridiculous story about the skaters in Pasadena who messed with her tags while she was at Starbucks getting her strawberry frappe. Asking her that is useless, imo. She lies like a rug.

The only things he can 'ask' her about are things he already has evidence of. He has to ask her about the things that he can REFUTE with texts and journals and e-mails. Otherwise it is just a waste of time. JMO

Can you imagine the rabbit hole she will take him down if he tries to get her to testify about her various hair color changes? But he is going about it a different, painstaking way. By showing the jury now, exactly how often she lies and how ridiculous she is, they are setting up their rebuttal of the next witness, the Abuse Expert.

I wish this post could be included in the very first post of each thread each day, because it's THAT awesome!!

What got me was her desire to see the picture of the forensic folks were able to get off the memory card. Talk about going the whole length of her premeditation.. that told the rest of the story (as Paul Harvey use to say).

Sorry to get OT - but boy do I miss Paul Harvey. I would listen to him with my mom growing up (may she RIP). What wonderful memories I have of his stories.

I can only imagine what he would have to say about one Jodi Arias. Especially knowing he passed in Arizona, and would have most likely been interested in this case.

"Hello Americans, I'm Paul Harvey. You know what the news is, in a minute, you're going to hear ... the rest of the story."

Carry on --

I'm going from memory, so this is not verbatim. But OMG - the whole "You're the best" text.

JM: You said he's the best. Travis Alexander was the best, wasn't he?
She says "best at what"
JM: "I don't know you wrote it"
JA: "I don't understand your question".
JM: "you said he was the best didnt' you?"
JA: "it made him feel better".
JM: "So you lied to him"
JA: "no not necessarily"
JM: "Maam - did you write that Travis Alexander was the best?"
JA: "Yes, but only to make him feel better - he liked that".

And you wonder why I needed to take a Xanax yesterday.

Mel

LOL@ Melanie~
Jodi requested lunch. I wonder if the Jury has requested Xanax to be handed out everyday at 10:30.

I think JM is playing an intricate chess game with her. All the talking heads want him to play something more straightforward and easier to follow. If he just asked questions..she would just lie or not answer or go to her script. He is keeping her off balance and guessing.

He is even playing to her narcisism.. Letting her correct him...like a cat playing with a mouse. I find it fascinating!

My worry though is who is on the jury? P12 types? He does need to tie everything together at some point and not assume the jury will figure it out and put all the pieces together.

  • #1,292
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the jurors raise their hands this morning saying that they watched something on tv.....just to get the heck outta Dodge......

The forged letters came later after JA's arrest. I think after JA's arrest she kept in touch with MM and anybody else she thought she could use.

As for him or anybody else providing her with a firearm...not needed...there was one readily available in the house she was living in. She thought the B&E would cover her tracks. Unfortunately the murder weapons were disposed of by JA and there isn't the definitive "smoking gun" forensics.

I am totally convinced when she left California she was going to make TA take her to Cancun and take her back in his life, he did not know she was coming and when she realized whatever she said or did TA was over her period, according to her, she was the one that moved on from other men, how dare him to tell her he wanted her out of his life, when this happened, oh well, she would show him, as much time and energy she put in this relationship and he did this to her, no going to happen. If not TA it would have been someone else that had told her to move on. She did not wash her hands with bottled water, as a lot of other lies. We all hope common sense comes into play with the jury but honestly there are many people that just can not put it all together, it is scary to know there is not logic or reasoning that goes on. JA is one scary person IMO.

agree with all you write. having served on 2 juries, i too am concerned because it only takes one idiot to mess things up. there were people on BOTH juries i was on that lacked intellect and simple common sense.

Can someone please tell me which day and what part of the cross does JM ask JA (when she says she wasn't sure that Travis was dead) her why she left him to die if she wasn't sure that he was dead? That was amazing cross and I'd like to see it again. Thanks.

I was wondering if Travis was really ever planning to go see her as he said on the sex tape... Was he just saying that to keep her content? She was spouting off all the things they would do in CA ..and he kind of didnt respond.

I thought the same kaki. I don't think he had any intention of visiting her. I think he was trying to appease her, and trying to keep her in CA away from him.

Maybe it was a combo of her realizing he was never going to actually come to CA, and finding out TA was taking another woman to Cancun, that sent her over the cliff.

NG...In the interrogation of JA by Det. Flores, he asks her if Travis had a gun in the house, she responds by saying 'not to my knowledge'.

JA says this at around 1:10, however, it's near the very beginning but you can watch gun discussion from the start 0:00.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoUB2UzWjtI

I watched that again, and I think there are a lot of truths here. The woman ninja is Jodi, with the knife. She added the man with the gun because originally I believe she wanted the crime scene to appear there were two people there - one with a gun and one with the knife (her).

She's sticking to the story of "I didn't see anything" on the stand by saying she now doesn't remember. But in her interrogation she does say she heard the gun shot and there was blood everywhere. I also believe that she is reliving the scene where Travis is screaming - which IMHO obviously happened when one is being attacked.

She is merely making up charachters, when in fact she's talking about herself. I did notice that she said she was touching Travis's back, which is how she is explaining (outside her mind) that she was not touching, she was stabbing.

It's interesting if you break down her statements and compare it to what she's been saying on the stand.

MOO of course.

Since court is dark on Friday, Jodie needs to be checked at the infirmary by one of the jail doctors. Jodie used the migraine excuse in one of her text messages over 5 years ago, and Nurmi said yesterday she had a migraine. Let's see if she has had even 1 during her incarceration.

The jail will have a folder with anything Jodie has had wrong with her during her entire incarceration. Does she really have a medical history of migraines? The jail doctor can evaluate her and also prescribe medication for it if it is a real condition. If not, then Jodie had better watch out because malingering is something she can be charged with in jail. It is a real charge. In fact, Nurmi's little stunt of interrupting her murder trial citing a migraine is actually enough for the jail officials to charge her with malingering now if she is not suffering a true migraine. I hope she was taken to the jail infirmary the minute she got back yesterday.

My youngest daughter has migraines (she is 34). IMO. Jodie did not have one yesterday in my opinion. Maybe she needs to see how someone with a real migraine behaves. Now she has insulted real migraine sufferers.

Man, I hope this (unusual person gets the death penalty!

Today, when Juan Martinez began having the court reporter read back the questions, her demeanor changed. Her shoulders slumped. Her jaw set. He wasn't playing ball anymore. And having her read to like a child wasn't serving it's purpose. She QUICKLY began to understand the questions better.

It's not fun when you have to start playing catch all by yourself. He did what he needed to do to show her as an aggressive, combative woman who would stand her ground against him - a man she COMPARED to Travis Alexander. Juan Martinez knows EXACTLY what he is doing. :twocents:

ITA--I noticed she looked depressed and defeated when Juan asked the court reporter to read back the question--it took the wind right out of her sails.
