Hello all!

Hope everyone is armed with snacks, drinks, Advil and tissues (if we hear about the murder today) and is all set to watch JA get burned on cross today!!

Hope the jury realizes the immense responsibility that has been placed before them and that they do what they need to do.

As for the talking heads....I'm embarrassed for them(who have way less experience and success than JM) and still feel obliged to criticize what he does best.

And for those of us at work,

I would like to say thank GOD for whoever posts the daily trial on youtube for those of us who may miss some or all of it. I couldn't believe what I saw on the stand yesterday between JA and JM just before lunch. But none of the (annoying) shows (JVM, NG, etc.) so much as touched on the drama.

I have been lucky (knock on wood) that I've been able to follow along for the most part while at work. But if I couldn't and I had to miss something, there is just no way these shows even come close to showing what 'really' happened in the courtroom. You miss so much if you don't watch it all.

Sorry, I don't know where that came from. A random though by HO.

But that directly contradicts her classifying her sexual attraction as "hard to resist" as she did yesterday. She didnt testify yesterday that she couldnt resist the urge to help him. She said point blank that she couldnt resist her "attraction" to him. Attraction is I independent of helping.

She contradicted herself. Her original statement was during her direct with Nurmi and that was she was helping him with his problem and that's why she continued to have sex with him. Yesterday she stated that it was her overwhelming attraction to him. She's put both of those statements out there. She can't keep her stories straight.

They had the perfect opportunity too, in Arias calling her mother to come out to Mesa to help her move! Sssh! They missed that one!

Because of personal experience and knowledge I am very firmly of the mind abuse cannot always be substantiated. However, I don't think Jodi's mom would've gone far enough to convince many of her daughter's claims.

Her daughter facing the death penalty could be more than enough to cause her memory to lapse or even for her to perjure herself. Not stating she unequivocally would...but I think the jury may wonder. Especially if that's the only corroboration.

I do think its very likely Mom probably believes Jodi's accounts though but not because they hold any veracity. Just because Jodi's quite possibly very efficient in manipulating her.

I thought asking leading questions was acceptable during cross examination. Is AZ law different in that regard?

Nurmi asked leading questions often...and I do not think it's acceptable during direct. However, JM did not object so it continued. I think JM wanted it to continue for the most part because info coming out during direct lays the basis for what can be covered during cross.

So I've got my PC, laptop and I-PAd all lined up in a tidy row (not taking any chances of losing a stream like I did yesterday), and my hubby comes home for an unexpected lunch
He looks at the three varying size screens, all displaying rainbow stripes, then looks at me rather quizzically, ruffles my hair and says, "Well, honey that's quite the control panel you've got going there...looks like you've got some heavy duty work ahead of you..."
and then i hear him tell his co-worker over the phone that they can work late, cuz "my wife's in trial all afternoon."

I keep going back to January 21 and January 22, IMO the two most important days in this case other than June 4.

JA gave us January 21 as the day she discovered Travis was a pedophile. Throughout every bit of JM exposing her as a sexual aggressor she has attempted to slide that big lie back in any way she can.

No mystery there. The lie portrays him as the ultimate sexual deviant, the breaker of an absolute moral taboo by anyone's standards, as someone who the jury could thus see not as a victim but as a dangerous predator capable of any sort of behavior.

JA then hands us January 22, the day the pedophile she portrays reveals himself capable of murderous physical abuse, that he attacks her because of the alleged events of January 21.

The DT's assertion of physical abuse is wrapped absolutely around the lie that Travis was a pedophile. Destroy the lie that Travis was a pedophile and a great deal of their defense crumbles.

So, focus on January 21 and 22. I've read and reread the chronology of those days as laid out in text msgs and phone calls. I have to believe that JM is reserving the testimony he elicited from her coupled with the evidence to slam her in his closing argument, when there is no possibility of having JA dilute its impact with her cra-p on the stand, or of the defense interrupting his narrative.

When pieced together, it is a fact that what she said happened on that day was simply impossible. It can't be disproved altogether that she saw him once that day, during the afternoon, though she might not have been there at all. What can be demonstrated was that she did not and could not have returned that same afternoon, and so could not possibly have seen him in his bedroom doing whatever.

It has already been proved that he did not desperately attempt to call her afterwards- he made no calls to her at all in the time period she alleges. He didn't ask her to come over that night- he was in fact being a good Mormon by going to a church gathering,and then socializing with friends until at least close to midnight. She badgered HIM about when she could talk to him that night, and he was not forthcoming about when that might be.

I'm less clear about the hour to hour chronology on Jan. 22. It might be that isn't possible to definitively refute with her own words what happened that day. What IS possible, and I think JM will get there, is to obliterate the pedophilia lie and if nothing else, decouple it from the physical abuse lie which he has also effectively attacked.
