Mark Geragos suffers from delusions of adequacy.

This is the one and only reason that I think she is purposely throwing "we" out there every now and then. I believe she is hoping that at least one jury member will pick up on it to cause reasonable doubt.

I wouldn't doubt that Juan is already planning to go back and nail her on it, he'll wait until she's not expecting it.

Hello everyone,

I've been an observer for a while, and recently decided to officially join. I just want to say you guys are all great, and I love reading what you have to say. Anyhow, I am currently a student, and my practicum work is with the domestic violence victim services unit in my city. I am by no means an expert on domestic violence but, I am often exposed to survivors, as well as the offenders. Initially, when I heard of this trial I felt bad for Jodi, I believed her to be a victim of abuse. One of the many things that changed my mind is the way she constantly says that she did things for Travis' EGO, to make him feel better as opposed to her doing things out of fear and in order to avoid a confrontation which would lead to abuse. I do believe her abuse theory to be a fabrication, very strongly because of this. Does anyone else pick up on this? What are your thoughts? Do any of you believe she was abused?

Hi Alix54, I was a observer long before I joined as well. The only experience that I have with DV is in regards to an abused family member. Her husband was extremely violent towards her and she walked on eggshells whenever he was around. In fact, we ALL walked on eggshells whenever he was around. I don't recall anyone ever stroking his ego. For the most part, he was avoided. Thankfully he's out of the picture now :great: I don't for a second believe Ms. Arias was abused by Travis, or by her spoon welding parents. What I do believe is that she is a (terrible) liar and a sociopath.

The fibers are only important for Arias's claim of self-defense. They give her an excuse to say there was a rope in the room and it needed to be cut. Therefore (according to her), Travis brought in a knife to cut that rope, which meant the knife was conveniently nearby when she needed to protect herself.

In other words, the fibers are a total smokescreen. They're irrelevant. There was no rope, no reason for a knife to be in the room, and thus someone had to bring it in. Jodi did that so she could kill him.

Ahha gotcha! That's what I thought but couldn't understand why the fibers on the stairs and in the blood on the bathroom floor came from and their significance. So there really is no significance to the fibers...just smoke and mirrors. Thanks a million for clarifying.

You're right. She was trying to bait him. Juan was too smart to take it, LOL.

Bingo ... yes on the bait JM. Because the clock was ticking ... all of us watching were noting .... "JM you have 12 minutes ... 11 minutes" until end of testimony.

He had an "end game" that he wanted to deliver today & his dance card was full baby - he heard her - and in a gentlemanly way said "stfu" (sorry for rudeness.)

Was the rental agent asked what, if anything, the agency did regarding the smoke smell? Normally there is a statement in the contract that there is to be NO SMOKING inside the vehicle. Granted I do not believe she was smoking, however, the odor should have caused more than a passing comment from the agent.

MOO

I wonder if Matt smokes????

so what does martinez do about that? leave it hanging out there or ask her who's 'we'?

I'm sure he didn't miss that she said that - if he doesn't know the answer, he probably doesn't want to open that can of worms. If he knows, he'll bring it up at the appropriate time if it helps his case IMO

I honestly feel like what she describes as abusive behavior towards herself was in part the abuse she was actually committing. I think Jodi was hard to "say no to", I think she was the more sexually aggressive one, etc. Just because of her lack of understanding, and experience it seems in a situation where she is the one being abused. I'm not sure if I am explaining this well, but I hope you know what I mean.

I think as you do. She was the dominant person in the relationship. After watching her spar with Juan M, I know she was the abuser, user and manipulator as well.

Good Catch!
It does look like the shower from a distance which could change a theory..

The problem I have with this shooting first though is.. you see Travis' bathrobe still hanging neatly on the hook between shower and tub which makes me believe he was attacked once got Out of shower.. hence the 1st stab to chest (per ME) which brought him to his knees hitting tile (blunt force trauma per ME) by the bathtub area.. bathmat had blood on top plus bottom.. TA crawling and/or attempting to get up going to the right towards sinks while being stabbed in the back (blood on lower part of walls + splatter expert testimony in that area) then JA slit his throat at the sink area (cough blood forward platter) then TA made his way down the hallway using the wall, crawling maybe and landed at the BR doorway (given the amount of blood on carpet).. TA wouldn't go down fast like JA thought he would once slashed his throat but he finally did.. JA dragged him from there to the shower..

IMO he was shot either right before she put him in the shower or after he was already put in it (bullet casing location) JA thinking he wasn't dead yet given the decomp type noises bodies make...

or Not, just my :twocents: since I can't get past the neatly hung robe that appeared to not have blood on it and was not introduced as part of the blood evidence ;)
Thanks for the reply! i enjoyed your post. I agree, I believe he was shot last, and the blood drip on shower resulted from attack in or right by shower. I have just never noticed the things I marked until txblondie pointed out what looked like blood on shower. If I saw that as a juror (assuming it is a blood drip) it would lead me to believe the attack started in/by shower where he was taken off guard and stabbed and she was lying about shooting him first in the closet.

That picture of the robe still hanging up is sooo creepy to me.

Looking at her rental contract, it looks like a smoke smell was noted as part of her initial inspection when she rented the car -- although this was not stated by the rental guy in his testimony.

I wonder if Matt smokes????

Matt smokes only after he has "betrayed" Jodi .... :)

As it appeared JM was alluding to with JA on Monday (if I remember) "are you about Matt never betraying you"

well she did say on the stand today that it was a remote she returned...when asked what kind, she said....uuuuuuuuuummmmmm a dvd, or uuuuuuummm a tv remote, I can't remember or something like that.....

Another part of testimony I missed I guess. Did she say why she had taken the remote with her? TIA

My first post on this thread... Just been reading.

However all of this "we" talk go me to thinking... Don't know if I believe it or not but I am throwing it out there...

JM keeps asking if MM was with her at DB's. he has asked her that several times. many of her purchases where for 2 of the same items (food, sunscreen). Could she drove her car and mm drove rental or vice versa?

JM keeps asking her are you sure MM would never betray you? He talks about him a bit and then right when you think he is getting to something good, he leaves the subject of MM.

Also Jodi's story 2.0 was that there was a man and a woman...

For arguments sake, lets say MM turned state witness and they offered him immunity/ reduced sentence for his testimony against her. I assume that would be part of discovery and would have to be turned over to defense?

Juan asked this of Darryl during his testimony also, with a very leading question. Something to the effect of, "Matt McCartney stopped by, didn't he?" - he said it like he knew that it happened, but Darryl responded that Matt did not stop by.

Good explanation for the possible order of wounds. But could all of that occurred in the 2 minutes from 5:30 to 5:32?

That's only if the camera was accurate.

Can someone tell me why she does not want to admit to a 3rd gas can? What's the significance of it? Thanks!

Hope you don't mind but I want to jump in and add my :twocents: May stray a bit off what you were talking about but anyhow...

There are so many holes in her story I don't believe any of it. It was premeditated so the details in the bedroom all fall on her no matter what (IMO), however... (It makes me twisted up inside thinking about this) ---take a moment to envision how long it takes to inflict those 29 stab wounds. Even if they were rapid, we've seen they are deep. It had to take a good deal of strength and energy each time. We know he moved around and was desperately trying to get away from 9 stabs to the back and the rest to the front. Even if this part of the murder was frenzied which I imagine it was, that still takes up a good portion of the two minutes.

There's no way in heck she had to run to get either weapon. They were both there within reach, within her site. She didn't have to waste a moment locating them. The entire 2 minutes were spent brutalizing him.

:rocker: great post!
ITA is a tough case to swallow..

If you ever heard a murderer talk about their killings, they tend to mention their 'adrenaline rush' which gives them an enormous amount of strength;
Not just for murderers either..
I recall years and years ago a smaller woman lifting the front of a sedan type car so a child could be removed from underneath the tire.. WOW..
Seems strange to the 'normal joe' but you can also see brutal knockdown dragout fights on the Youtube that are less than a minute from start to finish ;)
Also Juan pointed out the 'size' of JA and Travis in a photo with teh Friedman's.. Jodi was not as small as she looks today as did then IMO :twocents:
