Jodi's claim that Travis lunged at her "like a linebacker" when the gun "accidentally" went off peaked my interest. Knowing that JM was setting a trap I did a little Googling to try to learn about GSR (Gun Shot Residue) and stippling. Specifically, I wanted to know about what forensics could determine about the distance between the gun and the victim at the time the gun was fired, and what exactly "stippling" means. I also wanted to know if either could be rinsed off with water.

I learned GSR can be washed off and that it begins to go away much like chalk on the teachers hands goes away with brushing the hands together, putting hands in pockets, and touching other things. LE hopes to be able to test for GSR within 3 hours of the shooting. But "stippling" does not wipe off.

In Jodi's scenario, with Travis tackling her his head would have been very close to the gun which would leave GSR and stippling. According to the Medical Examiner, "This was definitely not a close contact wound and it produced no star-shaped entry, soot or stippling." I figured Nurmi could counter the idea of there being no GSR or stippling by saying it was rinsed off in the shower.

I found this website:
http://www.pathologyexpert.com/boards/forensics/gsw.htm

The site says:

Definitions:
Fouling: Soot, residue of completely burned powder, dust-like, wipes off
Stippling (tattooing): Unburned powder and debris, causing punctate abrasions on target. Larger and heavier so travels farther. Does not wipe off.
Margin of abrasion: Characteristic of enterance wound but can be seen in shored exit.

Range of Fire:
Contact: muzzle of gun touches target
- Tight: fouling in tissue, muzzle stamp
- Loose: fouling on skin and in tissue, searing
Close: <6" Stippling & Fouling
Intermediate: 6-30" Stippling
Distant: >30" Neither
(Distances approximate and depend on many variables. For accurate assessment need to test fire weapon with ammunition used.)

Since stippling does not wipe off, the gun Jodi was holding was more than 2 1/2 feet (plus the length of her arm) from Travis when she fired.

Start planning your menu for that last meal, Jodi. No more Tootsie Pops for you!!!:jail:

OMG, I had a meeting today. Does anyone have a link from the time she did her tacky pants tackle demo? I didn't see anything after that. I'm free and went to the closet restaurant to my office so I could YouTube. I can't even stand the thought of waiting in traffic to get home. TIA

 JA had to stand every time the jury entered or exited the courtroom.

JM should've made her stand next to HIM, as he is about an inch shorter than Willmott, who is about 2 or 3 inches shorter than JA.

However, JM got JA to testify about her height in today's testimony.

That's true, but this time Jodi was closer to them and they got to see her in action...trying to make her story match up.

In the Casey Anthony case, the Prosecution presented their closing statements before the Defense.

Proceeding differ by state - so we'll see... I was just giving it my best shot. :)

Perhaps someone in the know on AZ will set us all straight. If not, we'll find out as we go along!

I thought that said with JA at first.., :floorlaugh:

With me typing you never know..:floorlaugh:

It will be good after today's court.. I loved today!!!

O/T: I had to hush my daughter when DD jurors came on the other night. I said "My friends are on". She said "What?" I told her I had 653 new friends!

Crying isn't remorse ... Admitting it THEN telling the TRUTH might but I think it's waaaaaay too late for that!

The prosecution can choose to split their closing into two parts...first and then after the defense.

Can Juan call JA to the stand again during rebuttal?

I'm not an AZ attorney but I've never heard of any jurisdiction that does it any different from the following: State closes, Defense closes, State rebuttal close, case goes to the jury.

OMG I just had a wild idea you ever wonder if she wanted to use a baster and get pregnant after all this was said and done

But might that run the risk of making the issue more of... an issue? Underlining it? Focusing on it? Making sure it would be remembered? Perhaps the DT was hoping for JM to object so they could make something of it.

I dunno.

I trust what JM did today... His soft-spoken demeanor was awesome because I think few expected it. :)

When she had her first boo hoo (over the first crime scene pic) his tone and manner were brilliant. He made me want to confess.

Yes. I think it came off as selfserving and a sign of her me mentality. I think it helped Prosecution.

So, she didn't have on those coiled springy shoes to jump up and get that fake gun. She just used one shelf to climb up and there was a gun, loaded and ready. Travis was at the closet door.

Nah, none of that happened. :nono:

Shame on You, Jodi. DP for You.

I loved the look on Jodi's face when Juan told Jodi to demonstrate the alleged linebacker attack.

Cue it up! Here you go!

How can she claim PTSD if she caused the trauma?

A primary characteristic of PTSD is the inability to stop re-living the trauma over and over. Not amnesia. The inability to get gruesome images, sounds and smells out of your mind. Again, not amnesia.

So I'm interested to see how a paid shill characterizes all this.

The most disgusting statement I think JA made today was that the closet was smaller than the cell she lives in!!!! I almost starting screaming and shaking my iPad to yell....BUT BIGGER THAN TA's COFFIN?!?!? Gawd I need to ommmmmmmmm, ommmmmmmmm, ommmmmmm.......

If she gets out of jail free, NOT, she needs to get a job with a basketball team. Grabbing a gun from atop a closet that is 9 feet high is pretty impressive for someone 5'6".
