What sort of point would he have made? JBR was getting lots of local and even statewide publicity. And JR's business was international in scope.

I'm not sure that the 'angry leftist' was looking to make a statement anyway. Plenty of people are angry and seek revenge in one form or another, and don't claim responsibility. Besides, I think JBR was to be kidnapped, so you don't know how that would play out. Imagine JBR as an adult captive, while her parents thought she was dead because they called 911.
