Jose Baez Both Homes in Foreclosure

  • #241
Personally I feel there should be a thread about all of the questionable practices of the Lead Defense Attorney. There is quite a long list.

As I have stated before, all I want is justice for Caylee Marie Anthony and I see JB directly responsible for the delay.

YES PLEASE!!! We so need to discuss this issue in its own thread!

Yup, almost everyone's home has decreased significantly in value.

IMO, most of the homes in foreclosure have to do with the the variable interest rate increase and higher mortgage payments. I feel that those that had an adjustable rate are the ones that went into foreclosure because they couldn't pay the payment. This is where I feel Baez may have been when his home went into foreclosure.

For the people who bought homes around the same time as Baez, and had a fixed rate, they are more then likely hanging on because eventually the home will increase in value. For the homebuyers with a fixed rate, they aren't feeling the hardship as their payments remain the same even though the value has decreased. In these cases, it's worth holding on for the years ahead.

I own a home, and mine hasn't lost value based on where homes are now as I bought mine at a good price back in 2002. However, I had an adjustable rate in 2002, and when the Prime Rate started to rise along with my mortgage payment, I had to act quickly, otherwise I would really be hurting with a mortgage payment that would have almost doubled.

So since then he has bought another smaller house and an office building. And instead of attending ICA's June 21st hearing, he was apparently vacationing in Paris. But he didn't make a mortgage payment that month or any other one.

I think my beliefs about personal finance must be all hooey since I haven't been to Paris since '71, what with keeping up with payments and all.

Maybe he was looking for the Nanny?

But doesn't it speak volumes that you don't hear about the good guys' homes being foreclosed on? They're not the ones living beyond their means, seeking special treatment, or seeking out media attention.

that we know of, Mr. Hornsby, that we know of. Again, unless and until JB's financial problems interfere with his ability to defend KC, then I agree that JB's personal business is simply that - his personal business.

LOL! Then he should have vacationed in New York or Puerto Rico!

Paris. The guy can't seem make his house payments, but doesn't have a problem splurging on a European vacation. Good gracious. :loser:

Actually my point was that he was a VERY HIGH interest rate! He was a credit risk.

Do people not know the possibility of rising interest rates with an adjustable interest, balloon riders, etc, etc., before they sign those mortgage papers? Couldn't he have gotten a fixed five year rate or something and rode this storm out?

It appears he also refused to pay his medical bill too- $10,000 odd dollars - but he finds a way to afford a vacation in Paris. Seriously, my personal opinion of him just got even lower and I didn't think it could get any lower!

I guess we all just have to accept that he is a major screwup :croc: and get back to the case of Justice for Caylee!!!!!

You're right, but I'm still trying to wrap my brain around this. He thinks he's mighty special doesn't he? He acts like a spoiled brat and tries living like one too, but I see that it's not working out for him so well.

No wonder he gets along so well with Casey. He's just like her! Take, take, TAKE, party, party, party and worry about the consequences later!

Personally, I don't give a "rat's behind" one way or another if Baez doesn't make a mortgage payment, or if he buys another home or owns two office buildings and takes a vacation.

The only thing that matters to me is that Baez is NOT the attorney for the State of Florida representing Caylee.

Yes! Thank you God! I'm glad Caylee has Linda Drane Burdick and Jeff Ashton on her side! We can be very thankful for that!

Oh My! Let's all skip out on our house payments for a year and jet off to Paris! Jeez! Who does this guy think he is? He has his priorities all wrong! What is WRONG with him?

Respectfully disagree. His financial problems do relate to this and any other case. A higher standard of financial responsibility is a requirement of admittance to the bar. He was delayed eight (8) years for personal financial problems/mismanagement. And obviously the trend continues.

What is disqualifying conduct?
Pursuant to rule 3-11 a record manifesting a lack of honesty, trustworthiness, diligence, or reliability may constitute a basis for denial of admission. Any of the following may be considered by the board to be a basis for further inquiry before recommending admission:

* Unlawful conduct
* Academic misconduct
* Making or procuring any false or misleading statement or omission of relevant information, including any false or misleading statement or omission on the Bar Application, or any amendment, or in any testimony or sworn statement submitted to the board
* Misconduct in employment
* Acts involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
* Abuse of legal process
* Financial irresponsibility
* Neglect of professional obligations
* Violation of an order of a court
* Evidence of mental or emotional instability
* Evidence of drug or alcohol dependency
* Denial of admission to the bar in another jurisdiction on character and fitness grounds
* Disciplinary action by a lawyer disciplinary agency or other professional disciplinary agency of any jurisdiction
* Any other conduct which reflects adversely upon the character and fitness of the applicant

It was interesting for me to see one of Nums24 latest posts on today news, that Florida has passed an amendment saying if a client pays an attorney a fee to represent them and then goes to court to be declared indigent, the lawyer cannot withdraw from the case for financial reasons.

I guess we know why Baez is still hanging around. Never mind he will make LDB and JA's job of presenting the clear and damning evidence all that easier.

Okay, this is the last I will say about this - but to me, his actions and behaviors both in and out of the court room speak towards a total lack of personal and professional integrity.

So which one decided first to stop paying their mortgage and take a trip- cruise/trip to Paris- the Anthony's or Jose Baez??? It's like the chicken and the egg!:crazy:

Not paying bills seems to be a pattern of behavior for JB.

Baez also had to be sued and have judgments filed against him in court before making payment for medical bills and court reporting service. I have attached the 2 cases.

The doctors bill ($10,475.56) was satisfied in full and recorded 29 April 09.

Not sure if the chicken came before the egg on this one, but both were fowl ideas!:crazy:

But he still had to be sued for it didn't he?

Yep he was sued by the Doctor and won judgement plus costs.

Service of Process on JB was 23 Dec 09, and the Doctor filed a Summary of Judgement 23 Feb 09.

In the second judgement awarded against JB, the hearing was 23 March 09 and the plaintiff (Orange Reporting, Inc) was awarded $4404.47 by default (defendant failed to be present).

What I fine disturbing are the dates in question.
