Jose Baez Both Homes in Foreclosure

I would be giddy too, but I feel sorry for his family, he (JB) probably didn't disclose he was an A** in the marriage proposal. :maddening:

Well, he had to use a service to get her, so I'm sure she figured out no one here would have him... :floorlaugh:

He used a service. There were pictures of him on their website. Americans went down there to find pretty brides that wanted a life in the US.

So the Bar Association has no problem with mail order brides? I thought that would be a big concern. It's about one step down from indentured servitude. Unbelievably vile.

Do a Google search for Baez and mail order brides in Columbia.....

First, ewwwww, ickkkkk, ewwwww
Second, It's funny when I do a google search and websleuths comes back as a result.

Was he involved in sex trafficking? Mail order bride is just a tamer word for it. If so, that is sick and vile. Domestic sex trafficking is one of the issues that I fight against as a social worker. It is more common here than you would ever believe, and it infuriates me. The average age of entry into "prostitution" in the United States is 12 to 14 years old. They are children! And not even old enough to legally consent to sex by law. The media tends to label them "Teen Prostitutes" which drives me insane. Prostitution denotes "choice" these kids are being exploited and suffer life long traumatization.

But I digress, what is this about JB and "mail order brides?"

Divorced, failed bikini salesman, 8 time bar failure, defense profession worldwide questions both his fitness to practise law due to utter ignorance of basic procedure AND his "ethics" (or lack thereof), deadbeat for child support payments, homes in foreclosure.... And now it comes to light that he used a mail order bride service in an arguably 3rd world country.

It just doesn't get any better than this, does it? What's next? Does he club baby seals for a hobby, or host puppy kicking contests on casual Fridays?

His mother must be so proud. What a winner this one turned out to be.

It is indeed a sorry tale but I believe it was a dating service not a mail order bride. He was down in South America touring groups to date and pick his bride.

???

"Touring groups of women to pick a bride." What part of that doesn't sound like a mail order bride service?

A "dating service" is simply a euphanism for a mail order bride service. Nobody calls it a "mail order bride" service anymore, much the same as people aren't allowed to smoke in the delivery room at hospitals anymore, either.

We spent months in Eastern Europe, and there are all kinds of these "dating services" out there. Make no mistake- that is exactly what they are. Foreign men (and never any local men- there's your first clue) join the "dating service" with a very clear understanding that they go to X country, the "service" sets up a "date night" where the handful of foreign men mingle with the women (usually in developing countries, who are there to escape grinding poverty) with the intent on choosing one, much the way you'd choose a horse. Is she attractive? Slim? Will obey? Child-bearing hips? Then for the fees paid, the agency goes about guiding their male client through the legal morass of applying for a temporary visa, arranging a marriage ceremony in the host country, etc etc.

Who uses these "services"? Men who are losers who probably couldn't maintain a relationship any other way: either through lack of personality, character deficits, they are physically unappealing, they want a woman who will cook, be a maid, shut up and do what they say and provide sex on tap. They've struck out the conventional way, so they decide to go this route for a "sure thing" who has no chance of rejecting them.

This is not match.com in a foreign country.

I thought his wife was a well known TV personality or reporter in her country?

BBM--Sounds a lot like a slave auction to me. Makes me ill that women are treated this way, ILL.

If only the Florida Bar Association took such a stand.

I still have not found any public records or court docs showing his home is in foreclosure..

What I have found in public records is that Baez has paid his property tax bill for his home and the building which houses his law firm

https://www.osceola.county-taxes.com/public/real_estate/parcels/R172530-361700011190/bills/2440221

https://www.osceola.county-taxes.com/public/tangible/parcels/P000620-830000/bills/433334

I don't know if I am reading it right, but it doesn't look like he paid either bill in full.

both are Paid..his house tax was paid on November 29, 2011 and the other on December 6, 2011
there are receipts numbers for both property tax payments

I was comparing the amount he paid vs the amount of the bill.
