Wow...almost didn't see your question the color was so light. BBM and highlight by me.....

Yes....when discussing media and crime story coverage....he mentioned "What's juicy.....what's sexy?" in his answer.

I'll remember that one. :furious:
The murder of a helpless little kid is now Juicy and Sexy.

The job of the prosecutor is not to win the case but to ensure that truthful evidence comes forward.

Regarding cross examination....It's not about twisting the evidence, it's about putting it to the test. If it is true it can't be discredited. This could be why there is no witness list yet.

He shares a case he tried that included a shooting. He said there was lots of blood....that LE didn't take dna swabs and test for gun shot residue. He shared that the jury was frustrated (or was it frushtrated???) that LE didn't take adequate samples.Confused here. On who, the victum or the person being tried?

People forget that KC is human. That she could easily be anyone's daughter or friend. This is easy for everyone concerned....the reaction would be the same....horror.

There are experts that live and breathe a case....then there are experts that do the bare minimum and charge for every minute on the case. You have to find a middle ground. If the expert seems too emotionally invested in the case.....they will not be perceived as an independent opinion.
You have to find that middle ground.Translation: We have not found that middle ground yet.

He knows that his every move will be more heavily scrutinized than normal. It requires he do double work. He states that he makes no move without consulting all the other attorneys working on the case before acting. ( IMO I doubt that) Oh brother. Does he walk into this one. It requires double work because he does not do it correct the first time.

He states that you are always scrutinized and analyzed by those that know less than you do. ( ummmmmmmmmm :rolling: ) That would be us.

Commenting on why he is was not well known...
because most of his trials were in the hispanic community. The English community didn't know a lot about him because of the language issue. And because most people don't kill their children.

Many lawyers have been VERY gratuitous in their advice. (is that because he can't pay for consulting???) True.

The problems he has encountered in this case are such rare issues that even lawyers with much more experience were unable to advise. We know of two in the area who have given their advice freely and willingly and clearly it was good advice.

Pearls of wisdom from JB if someone gets stopped by the popo.....
One should not feel that they are not cooperating if they do not speak to LE.
You should always have an attorney present.
If you speak without an attorney present your words can be misinterpreted and used to wrongfully convict you.Oh that would have gone over really well with LE. "Ms Anthony can you tell us what happened to your child"..."Nope. I want a lawyer." JB, the end result would have been the same except LE would assume right up front the child was dead.

While he is right about asking for an attorney, KC had already let the cat out of the bag with the story of the Nanny by telling her parents. I'm sure KC thought she could get away with it until they took her to Universal.

Respectfully snipped for focus...

After 14 months and all the motions and appearances and "witnesses" and drama... FINALLY... JB has said something that I can agree with.

I feel dirty......

I interupt this thread to "pause for a thought to consider".....If JB feels it necessary to second guess his actions, give additional consideration to his decisions, and to consult with all the other members of his team....PRIOR TO taking action........Were they in full support of him giving this self aggrandizing interview? Did Andrea offer her stamp of approval on this podcast?

I can hear the conversation now between Mr. Bailey and Mr. Baez. Mr. FLB's secretary, "Mr. Bailey, Mr. Baez is on the phone." FLB, "Who??" "Mr. Baez, the attorney from that case in Florida." FLB, "Mr., Mr., I thought the lead counsel was a woman???" JMO

Quote respect... "What's juicy? What's sexy?" by JB during this interview.

On November 29, 2009 Jose was generous enough to give an interview to Blog Talk Forensics.

He was interviewed by Leslie sitting in for Larry Daniel .Here is the link to this rather informative "event".

http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id304701292 #13 is his podcast.

Due to "technical difficulties" JB was late on the call. He later admitted his confusion on being held in queue and that he was "not all there with technology".

Studying criminology at FSU he aspired to a career in federal LE. It was a "girl" that inspired him to change his plan. His GF at the time was in law school.

I will offer more "highlights" in the next post.

I love how he cites things he hasn't done - things he wanted to do, and things he has failed at - as part of his life resume. Utterly disgusting.

Thank you Sleuther, you bring us such entertaining stuff. I do think this is what he wants to be a radio/tv personality, he and Geraldo seem to concur , he is the heir apparent. Pray very hard. I don't think you are praying hard enough!

lol you'd think his 'team of lawyers' would know how to proofread a motion for elementary school level grammar mistakes. What a load of nonsense!

Can someone please explain to me what he is talking about?? I live in the area, and I am clueless. As far as I know, the Spanish speaking folks use the same court system that everyone else uses.

I just find his use of the words "sexy and juicy" when describing the allure of this case to the media .....coupled with his comment designating KC as an attractive woman accused of a crime, a bit hard to "shwallow" (yes I spelled it that way intentionally). Why does he feel the need (consciously or subconsciously) to "sexualize" the matter at hand.

I find those comments very curious. I am no body language expert nor am I a linguist.....but as an average person (passing judgement via internet posts or blogs which he may or may not peruse for humor) I notice a distinct pattern in his verbiage and behaviors which suggests a "deep emotional investment" in this client. Thought provoking if nothing else.

Most people should look at the role of the cross examination in the search for the truth. If it can't pass cross then it shouldn't be evidence.

Jose considers the CSI effect argument to be a cop out. (odd since AL has an opposing view according to her lectures IMO)

Juries expect forensics in a case and when there is a lack of evidence, it hurts the prosecutions case.

Why is the KC case so high profile??????? According to Jose Baez...

The case grabbed the nations attention for various reasons.
The Fl. discovery laws.
The circumstances surrounding Caylee's disappearance.
An attractive young woman was accused of this crime.
Caylee was an adorable little girl.
Strange and bizarre facts were thrown into the mix.

Jose feels that the general public has a detachment with the case. he compares it to a video game where you have violent games yet players are detached from it.

The media is responsible because of the old saying.."When it bleeds, it leads."

Viewers =dollars .

"What is juicy? What is sexy?" (I find that a very odd comment)

Jose states he does not really read blogs or anything unless he is perusing them in search of humor.

More to come.

BBM- see, even he thinks his performance is pretty funny!
That would be humorous if it weren't for the fact that at the heart of this story there's a murdered child.

According to JB in his interview...he had experience trying cases in Miami which involved Hispanic clients. According to his interview he is well known in the Hispanic community. According to his interview......most of his trials were part of the Hispanic community. So when the English community heard of me...they didn't know a lot about me.

Yes and one would think he would make a concentrated effort to avoid just that, after Casey's "Howard Stern would wanna know my bra size and if Jose was hittin' it" remark to Rob and Tracey. If I were coaching him I would have him use words like daughter, I have a young daughter that age...family...mother...but never anything that even hints at the word sex. Too funny. Where is his new PR manager? She is likely listening in her office thinking ......just shoot me!!! LOL

The host asked him : "Why did this case become so high profile...not every case does?
Baez: "Unfortunately...they do not".

You just can't make this stuff up!!

He said on this high profile case he runs everything he does by a team of lawyers. Lord, help me Jesus...a team of lawyers let these documents, wrong on the facts, wrong on the law out of the door!!!
I was hoping it was one new intern, very green, overworked, in a hurry, running up hill...both ways.
I sure hope RH doesn't hear that. LOL

BBM: Absolutely. And don't miss!

I'm so glad he feels he's that important to hear from.
I was thinking about that the other day on a different thread. Someone was pointing out how it seems everyone associated with the defense is going through personal turmoil and are awfully quiet...but if you noticed...not JB. He's preparing for his next job. I heard he had recently been a talking head on a news show (FOX?)...now this. Yup...JB...he's setting himself up for his next career. JMO

Shouldn't he be finishing up on the one he started??? Time for all these media appearances but no time to do a witness list, take depos, do what they normally do to prepare for trial. JMO
