I'm now beginning to wonder about the defense team he's assembled for Casey ~ if they'll want to continue? I'm mainly thinking about LKB and Lenemann. :waitasec:

I'm amazed TL CAN continue? His recent articles on filicide have been so obviously slanted to portray his defense of KC that he's all but stated his defense strategy right out there?

Ask for LKB, I believe there has to be a lot of $$$ involved for her to be staying in this game.

IF JB gets suspended or disbarred, then I think they might reconsider. I guess it depends on who/what the arrangements are for the financing. :waitasec:

This is JMHO. I have always wondered if she was an escort and he was a client of hers at one time.:waitasec:

If Casey were an escort that nasty little secret would have been out a long time ago ..

I agree, TL has a problem, and so does the attorney from California. The only one with some credibility, imo, is LKB. As much as she was annoying during the 1st Spector trial, at least she doesn't have the bad baggage a couple of her male counterparts in this case have. MOO

I am in disbelief that Baez thinks he can just throw out the Hispanic race card and turn this into some kind of "they're picking on me because...."-scenario. Give me a break already!!!! :furious: As the proud wife of a wonderful, successful man (who just happens to be Hispanic), this race card thing really irks me. If my little girl (with obvious Hispanic last name and appearance) is to have positive role models in her life, she doesn't need people like this who think they are somehow "victims". What has happened to personal responsibility here?? Admitting fault and being honest and having integrity? Jose---put on your big boy pants and stop playing the race card. You're making a big mistake there!

JMO....

Great post RainyGirl. Have you ever notice when the news is negative, the person in the spotlight often reaches for the race card or a way to throw doubt on the facts. Jose's background with the State Bar of Florida has nothing to do with his race, the color of his eyes, what he eats for breakfast or how he dresses or what he drives. And, he and his firm members know that!
I do believe when a member of a defense team has a complaint filed against them, specifically by the JUDGE, it is 100 percent newsworthy to look into that person's professional background. The news organizations would not be doing its job if it ignored the complaint and the Bar's background information.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but if I was looking for an attorney, the last person I would take a referral from would be someone who is behind bars. I'd rather hear from a client who was free and had a successful defense.

I've thought the same thing about TL. Has it been formally announced that he will definitely be on the team? I may have missed it if so?! It should be a HUGE conflict of interest if he is.

I'd actually just assumed he was when JB said there were death qualified attorneys (plural) on board.

I heard the other day that TL was cleared to do it in Fla but not if he is clear of his business. Like he was gonna take care of it.

I agree. I've been mystified about this.

I don't recall seeing any specific lately about it - i.e. since the DP got put back on the table. I'll go scoot back through the most recent DP posts and see if there is anything firm in print.

Back if I find anything.

ETA: Apparently, it isn't TL anymore http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3599711&postcount=389

No idea who then, but recall JB stated that there are several DP qualified attorneys on the team. I'll have to go for a refresher on the older legal/DP threads to remind myself if the lawyer has to be from the FL bar for an FL DP case.

Good point. I agree that JB probably deserves it personally. I just try to look at it from an objective standpoint. I asked myself, "If it wasn't JB, would the Sentinel's article still be justified if it were about some other private attorney?" And no matter how I looked at it, it just didn't seem right. Maybe I'm just taking it personally because I am in school to become a lawyer and it scares me to think that I could be later prosecuted in the press for things disclosed on my bar application - simply for the crime of defending an unpopular person. However, I can see your point that maybe JB is a special case and this is a result of his own bad behavior. Maybe I should just look at it as a warning not to act like him, and I will never have to worry about it huh?

Re my bold-- Oh, SS, I didn't realize you're a law student! :) I'm sorry for taking such a hard line about attorneys, but as they oft remind us with great pride, they are "officers of the court." I expect them to earn that title daily, not disgrace it. I'm sure you personally will have nothing to worry about with respect to your bar application.

HOWEVER, the appalling truth is that none of us can count on maintaining a scrap of dignity or privacy if the media takes notice of us. In less than one day, an internet search by anyone with a little skill can turn up more information than professional investigators and reporters could discover in a year or more. And in a matter of minutes, all that learned information (correct or not) can now be disseminated as "fact" all over the world to hundreds of millions of people. Someone once said that "Information is Power." Someone else once said that "Power corrupts."

In the case of the internet's Information Age, we're learning that power without limits is not only corruptive but terribly destructive to innocent "bystanders." And yet, this freely available information is also an indespensable asset to our daily lives.

Thank you for this. I think it would be a dumb move to keep TL on after his webinar blogs posted on the subject.

But, then again, JB isn't the brightest crayon in the box and neither is his client!

Doesn't it make you wonder a few things?

1. Was TL so confident that the DP wouldn't be put back on the table that he just put himself and his articles right out there?
2. Does he regret not being able to sit now?
3. Even if he could step back in to first chair, would he? Especially after being exposed to JB's 'ethics' first hand?

I wish the bar could depose two people in regards to JB:

Mark Nejame & JB's ex wife. :D :D :D

Ya know, I would just LOVE to know what MJ knows! I know we will never hear about it, A/C/P and all, but still! You just know he has some interesting things to tell!

And he created two charitable organizations (I'm sure that helped with his rehabilitation in the eyes of Florida Bar Examiners). Both organizations are now defunct/dissolved according to the article. The article states that the first, Miami Domestic Violence Project, was dissolved two years later. The second, Miracles for Children Foundation Corp., continued for approximately a year.

I just checked in for the first time today -- had to work. What a nice surprise! I knew in my gut that there had to be something like this in this guys background. From the first time I read his website, it was obvious he was being misleading and making it appear that he had been practicing law a lot longer than he had.

Just wanted to mention that these two non-profits may have been "defunct" a lot longer than they appear to be. In fact, they may have always been defunct. When an organization is "administratively dissolved", it is because it has not filed the papers and paid the fees at the one year point after it was formed. The actual dissolution happens several months after this, I think after the State has allowed several months after the due date for fees to be paid. In other words, the organizations could very well have been formed with never any intention of being active. This appears likely, given that neither of them ever filed or paid so that they could continue.

Hmmm! Why am I not surprised? This sounds like something that would be right up JB's alley!

How much do you wanna bet he files for a change of venue in Miami where there is a very large Hispanic population? That could work in his favor, but it could also hurt it since KC claimed a Hispanic woman kidapped Caylee.

I don't see what Hispanic population has to do with anything. Yes, JB is Hispanic. So are alot of people in Central Florida. A good chunk of CF is Hispanic. Folks here can care less that he is Hispanic.

However, if he wanted to make race an issue, the could try to save the "white" woman. And blame it on the unfound Hispanic woman.. and take the case to the Rural, racist areas of FL. And yes, we do have such backwater places. Around 2000 there alot of talk about a town in the Panhandle that still practiced segeration.

Quote from the OS article -- "According to the Supreme Court summary of the case, the Board of Bar Examiners filed formal allegations against J.A.B. in September 1998. In addition to unpaid child support, a personal bankruptcy and default on a student loan, the investigators said he left out parts of his history, including that he wrote a bad check and entered a pretrial program to avoid conviction."

If JB entered a pretrial program to avoid conviction for a "bad check", doesn't it make sense that this was a little more than a simple NSF? I've mistakenly written a few NSF's in my time, and nobody ever mentioned trying to convict me of anything. Kinda makes you wonder just what was he about to be convicted of?

I wonder who, at the Orlando Sentinel did JB pee off b/c although the website article looks like most others w/ text & a pic, however I receive this paper in my driveway and read it ceremoniously everyday and I was a little taken aback by this morning's Sunday frontpage. I mean, true newspapers are dying but what a tabloid this once respectible paper has become!

I had to save it & store it on my domain b/c they change it daily.

I gotta agree, the front page does kinda have the look of a tabloid. On the other hand, IMO one of the downfalls and cause of death of many newspapers is the fact that "investigative reporting" is almost nonexistant. At least this article was written by someone who took the time and effort to investigate and write about it and I applaud that
