I'm glad he was convicted and hope he receives a long sentence.

If we care about his innocent children, and I'm sure we all do, we have to care about Anna. Regardless of the poor decisions she may have made (she is an adult,) the balance has to come out on the side of hoping the best for her, because that is how things will go best for the children.

My fantasy outcome would be that a good private Christian school (because that's the only way she would let her children go out to school,) would offer her a job at the school. Para professional. She's probably good with kids. In my fantasy though, it would not be a fundamentalist type of school, but a more open, loving and accepting school. She would then be out in the wider world; her children would receive support and encouragement, as would she. As I said, just my fantasy for the kids.

My Aunt had 10 children. She was a terrible mother. Always looked great for cameras and public. Behind closed doors, Joan Crawford on Steroids. Just because someone has a lot of kids, doesn't mean that makes them a "good mother". Any more than assuming Josh Duggar is a "good father".

Who knows? We don't know what Anna is like at all, or what she thinks.

True. The school would be able to tell pretty quickly if she was a good fit for the job of working with kids. And if she's not a good mom, but wants to be, she could learn a lot from being around school staff and observing their interactions with kids.
As I said, it's a fantasy. Best case senario.

Edited to Add: Forgot about the babies. There's an on-site daycare at the fantasy school. She works half day in the daycare, half day in the school.

Conjugal visits aren't allowed? Or maybe they aren't allowed to sex offenders? Certain classes of sex offenders?
JMO

IIRC federal prisons don’t allow them. They might be allowed in some state prisons. I don’t have a link. Maybe @gitano or another on of our attorneys know?

It would be nice but I doubt JB would ever allow it.

Regardless individual opinions regarding Anna, there’s a lesson here for all of the women who are in the same situation. While they’re busy churning out children, they should considering what they would do if their husband was incarcerated or otherwise unable to support all those children.

Here's the prison info:

BOP: How to visit a federal inmate

What jumped right out at me is that prisoners have to maintain a list of who can visit. I doubt–though it's unclear to me–that this would include ALL the Duggars

Who will he choose to be on that list.....?

Only 4 hours of visiting time per MONTH.

Josh could get out of prison when he is still what I consider to be a young man. 43 maybe if he gets 10 years. I’m not a psychologist but… he has been a pedophile since he was 12. I wouldn’t trust him with a 10 foot pole when he gets out. And how successful are the sex offender treatment programs prisoners are required to attend? I don’t know.

I hope he gets 40 years. He so deserves it.

My opinion, is that the classes and treatment plans for adult criminal offenders are useless. Maybe 1 out of 100 actually works the program and wants to change. (Yes, I am not "verified", but I used to teach court ordered classes and classes in prison so that is my "unverified" opinion) FWIW.

Kinda think that also. Most of them probably just go thru the programs because it is a requirement.

I wouldn't trust him around girls or women AT ALL, ever, and I wouldn't want him around boys ever either, despite him having no (known) male victims in his CSAM or from his molestation victims. I truthfully don't want him around men either.

I just don't want him around any people in general.

Did they really think he could get away with it? Did the whole family see in court the disgusting, horrible material he had on his computer? I know his wife had to leave the room, but did everyone else stay? Did they not believe he was actually doing it?

This why they thought he would be found not guilty:

Religious narcissism.
Realty TV - The jury will support us because they like our show - Our show is based here etc
Politically connected family - They voted for Jim Bob, so they figured that they would have at least some jurors who would have found him not guilty

Seriously, I was surprised at the verdict. The Duggars are extremely connected. I'm glad the jury put all of this aside.

When Josh Duggar will be sentenced

Joshua Duggar faced two charges: Receipt of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Each of these charges carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines. However, District Judge Timothy Brooks will rely on only one of the charges in determining the sentence.

Receipt of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 is considered the more severe of the two charges, and so that is the one Brooks will use.

This means he can be sentenced to a max of 20 years? tia

You are correct. Actually, inmates have 4 hours of visits (total) per MONTH. See my link upthread.

Yes. The prosecution team did a live interview after the verdict was read, and explained that the possession charge is a subset of the receiving charge, and a person can legally only be sentenced for one of those for a given case.

So, as a convicted child sex offender, I am thinking Josh Duggar, when he gets out of prison, in a decade or so...or longer, his youngest child <modsnip> will be a teen. He won't be able to go live at home?

Or live with the Duggars, with all of the kids, grandchildren...

Josh Duggar has really messed up his life. And his family. The selfishness is epic. Narcissism. He didn't care about anyone but himself.

Does "them" in the snippet you quoted refer to visits with children? I sure hope no children will be allowed to visit Josh.

That is just 'live with' though. He could live nearby and visit often, I think. I don't know that that would work with this sect. Men have such authority and women and children (especially little girls) have none.

Interesting. That would probably have required the prosecution to prove Josh knew his files were passively available for download by others on the network and knew they were being distributed by his computer. It would have been great if even one file had been accessed and shared. 2 perps for the price of one.

But a file sharing site.... he'd be passing on the files to other users? It's like an international multi-node virtual network, and his partition is like a mini storage facility on the dark web, sending files in and out? In that case, he would be distributing, even though he didn't actively push any buttons to distribute. It's in the nature of "file-sharing".

Maybe we'll hear about this in the sentencing round. It wouldn't have to be a proved element, since it would be de facto a feature of the partition and the material it was accessing.

The LE software might also be able to track whether there were automatic uploads in addition to Josh's downloads?

Right, @CharlestonGal , you can't download without uploading, that's why it's called p2p (peer to peer). Every computer online with that file automatically up/downloads it. It is exactly as @RickshawFan explained.

MOO: LE chose to focus on charging JD with possession, rather than sharing or distributing, to keep it simple. They also may have decided to omit the sharing aspect b/c they could be actively investigating other end users. The distribution of these particular files crossed state/international lines on the p2p network.

eta: Whoops forgot to add a link to a diagram/explanation of p2p: Geeks for Geeks

All it said was 4 hours total. Inmates can include their children on the list, but the list is subject to approval, and this seems to be an individual assessment. No contact with a victim or anyone he was grooming.
Apart from Josh being a danger to the kids, those units are special units for sex offenders. There would be convicted sex offenders (plural) in the visiting space.

Another thing I thought interesting…. There is a preference for putting offenders within 500 miles of home. I’m not sure any of the prisons meets that guideline, depending on what level Josh is.
Any ideas on level? Low or moderate maybe? Could he be sent to a “camp” whatever that is?
