So, if he's convicted, what happens after that? Does he get hauled away in handcuffs? Does he go home to his current bedroom? What all?
That's up to the judge. And the judge is a no nonsense kind of guy. I doubt he'll allow a convicted pedophile out in the community to await sentencing. My guess is he'll be remanded to custody immediately. jmo

Just to add: 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 is entertainment provided by consenting adults. “CSAM” is admittedly clunky, but the intent is to make it clear that it is the recorded sexual abuse of children. “Child” is not a category of 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. JMO.
The media needs to start using the correct terminology, instead of the headlines screaming “🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.”

The laws need to be changed too because the law calls it CP.

I believe that he will go directly to jail. Most federal criminals, actually plead "Guilty", so they can arrange when to go to prison. Only 2% of people charged with federal crimes actually go to trial. A conviction is much worse than pleading guilty. I am not sure why.

Looks like Josh Duggar will also be a convicted sex offender, if found guilty.

Child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 is the legal term. CSAM is not a legal term, although it should be.

MOO on computer 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, and products like "Covenant Eyes", if you make something absolutely FORBIDDEN, well, that is guaranteed to make the item something that becomes an obsession. Because it is NOT ALLOWED!!!

We had boys, never put any sort of "nanny" on the computer. I don't know what they did, we never told them not to look at 🤬🤬🤬🤬, because they probably will anyway. So, glance, move on. No obsession. Who cares? Well, that is not any fun.

JMO on raising healthy kids.

Yeah, though I'd prefer we get away from the entire "sexual abuse" pussyfooting and call it what it is - child rape. CSAM is a start, but Child Rape Material (CRM) is exactly what it is and what it should be called. imo

I imagine your outlook on that might change if you found out your 12 year old son was regularly sexually assaulting your 5-9 year old daughters, to include inserting his fingers in their vaginas while they were seated in his lap.

It's probably a good idea at that point to keep tabs on what he's doing on the internet, before the feds show up at your house with a warrant because he's downloading CRM.

Has to come back later for sentencing. Defense and prosecution then will argue about the sentence. Pre-sentencing will have to do a long report on him. Letters will be written on his behalf.

At sentencing he will either be remanded immediately into Federal custody or will be given a report date for when he has to turn himself in to a prison facility intake.

He is evaluated during intake and gets Covid quarantine time. Health exam, dental, mental health psych, pre-sentencing reports, all kinds of evaluations and an orientation program.

Finally he is placed into his Federal Prison home.

That is what I think as well. The handcuffs will come out.

And he is allowed to go home until a sentencing date? Not even remanded in custody for a crime that carries a custodial sentence?

Many defendants are out on bond when waiting for their sentencing hearing.

It is up to the judge if Josh still gets to stay out on bond, or go to jail, until his sentencing hearing. It will be either back to his guardian's house on bond or in jail to await sentencing.

That is if he is convicted. Straight home to celebrate if aquitted.

I hope they throw the cuffs on him right after the judge gives his sentence and drag him out kicking and screaming!

Because of the charges I would be surprised if the judge gave him a reporting date.

Like instead of giving him a future date to turn himself in I think the judge will remand him to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the BOP, immediately.

Of course only if convicted.

In the days before home computers it was not unheard of for some teens to sneak a PlayBoy magazine into the home. There also may not have been as many health education classes which discussed sex education.

The online world is much scarier. I think it is important today for parents to recognize their children could be at risk The level of material Josh was looking at was not something someone would find through a regular search. I would want children or people of any age to know videos may contain pictures of trafficked individuals.

The Duggars have always seemed hyper focused on sex. There also something disturbing about not being able to express natural emotions. It is not normal to be joyful all of the time. The Duggar children seemed to have a good life with the cameras rolling but it was scripted.

I imagine IF the judge allows him to remain out on bond the bond will change. At the present time, he is allowed contact with his 7 minor children. At the least, as a convicted pedophile, that part of the bond will be revoked. He will not be allowed access to children, even his own, while awaiting sentencing. Period. No judge in his right mind would allow that.

I wonder if the folks at Covenant Eyes--and the community they serve--know that women watch 🤬🤬🤬🤬?

BBM. I would think, especially his own children.

How could they let him loose on the community? Will they cut to the chase and expedite the sentencing date?

If he is convicted It would seem odd to have him stay on bond, while waiting for sentencing, in my opinion.

I agree, the bond would have to be redone because his children are allowed to be with him right now.

But the judge might still allow his bond, not sure he could see his kids.

Sounds like a big mess.
