How could they let him loose on the community? Will they cut to the chase and expedite the sentencing date?

If he is convicted he will get:

1.) His bond revoked and await sentencing in jail.

OR

2.) His bond continued and await sentencing living at his guardian's house with the same stipulations in place.

OR

3.) Re-do his bond with different stipulations while awaiting sentencing.

Many defendants are out on bond when waiting for their sentencing hearing.

It is up to the judge if Josh still gets to stay out on bond, or go to jail, until his sentencing hearing. It will be either back to his guardian's house on bond or in jail to await sentencing.

That is if he is convicted. Straight home to celebrate if aquitted.
No federal judge in their right mind would allow this criminal to be released given the bail conditions that he is allowed to be around his children (even with supervision).

But, what supervision? By his wife who has to be 'sweet' and be submissive to all his demands, no matter if she finds them damaging?

I agree. Be possible his Bond will be completely revoked.

Being convicted changes the ball game.

Those are the current bond conditions. Are you saying the judge should revise those conditions? That is a separate issue. I'm not arguing that.

You may be interested in goggling, "[S01 Episode 1] "Duggars & JCPenney" - I Pray You Put This Journal Away Podcast" . And go from there, if you have time.

IMO, this is not the first time Josh was caught accessing sexual materials on the internet, although I do not believe they were sexual abuse materials when he was caught previously. In any event, also, IMO, in their sect/church, church confessionals either public or more private, were a big part of patriarchs and/or future patriarchs getting right with the Lord again.

Remember, (also IMO), these people do not believe in psychotherapy. Dealing with kids and/or adults who may have issues that others would address with professionals, are dealt with via counsel of church members.

So, Bobye Holt may very well be telling the truth.

Thank you guys for recommending this limited series podcast hosted by a guy, Justin, (cohosted by his wife, Julia) who was part of the Duggar scene back in the day. Adding to what you've already said, in the first ep, the host talks about how Jim Bob made an area for the boys to build their own computers, and supplied them with innards and chassis from the local university. Josh had his own spiffy Mac rig and was encouraged to explore computer tech. Josh also had a decent camera for the time and talked about making movies.

Was this guy on the potential witness list? Seems he'd easily remove any doubt the jury might have about Josh's tech literacy, especially since it goes way back, even further than a decade. Or maybe the prosecution felt he wasn't needed?

I'm trying to prepare myself for a not guilty verdict. Hate the very thought, moo.

I think, on balance, it should be a guilty verdict...but you just never know, do you?

There's positive evidence Josh was at the computer at the time of the d/l. There's no evidence it definitely was a remote access.

There's positive evidence that Josh has 'history'.

If it was anyone else with that history who was proven to be sitting at the computer at that time, with their own passwords protecting both the computer and the partition...passwords they also used for other things ... I think the average jury would consider that to be a strong enough case and would disregard theoretical one in a million chance that the computer could have been remote accessed right at the moment he's sitting working at it. I think that, in general, people find wild coincidences to be untrustworthy, but that seems to be what the defense are offering up.

It's the latest politically correct term for child rape and torture. Makes me sick.

I would have thought it was more of a legalese term for what you just said? It used to colloquially be known as 'child 🤬🤬🤬🤬' or 'kiddie 🤬🤬🤬🤬' but CSAM does a better job than those other two for saying what it really is...it's not consenting 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, it's watching a child be s abused in whatever way, shape, or form that takes.

ETA a post above says that it's not a legalese term, but I still think it's more accurate than calling it '🤬🤬🤬🤬'.

<modsnip- reddit is not an approved source>

I think the prosecution felt that Jim Holt's testimony would probably be more solid since he was an adult at the time of the conversation and his family was close to the Duggars.

Josh Duggar's dad Jim Bob to his wife Anna Duggar: All of the family members who've appeared at his trial

Is it significant regarding who in the family did not come to this trial? A family of 19 siblings. Looks like four came to the trial.
His mother never came.

Anna came each day. As did Derek Dillard, Josh Duggar's brother in law, married to Jill Duggar.

Siblings who attended
1. Jana, briefly one day
2. Justin
3. Joy-anna
4. Jed

The Sun later stated that they misidentified someone as Jed and it was actually Jason (they do look a lot alike). The witnesses were not allowed to attend the trial until they had testified so I don't think Jed was ever there other than in a separate room waiting to possibly be called as a witness.

There were reports that Jessa was also there, she was one of Josh's victims. There are no photos of her so it's possible that it was someone misidentified as her (Jana's friend Laura looks similar to her and she was at the trial on the day Jessa was reportedly there).

Joy-Anna was one of Josh's victims. IMO she wanted to hear the truth of what happened to her.

Justin is a wildcard as he essentially moved out of his home and into his future wife's parents' home prior to getting married. There's a lot of speculation as to why he did that but no real answers. His thumbs up to the photographers is even more confounding. Thumbs up because he thought Josh was going to be convicted? Or thumbs up because he thought Josh was going to be found not guilty? Who knows!

I don't know much about Jason. He's in the group that fans/snarkers call the lost boys because we really don't know anything about them.

I'm surprised that Jana showed up at all, her best friend Laura attended the trial the previous day and I assumed that she was relaying info to Jana. She only showed up when the defense presented their case so she probably isn't all that interested in finding out the truth. JMO.

Mrs. Holt testified that Josh digitally raped the 5yr old. This was new information to all of us, and I wonder if it was new to the victim as well. I hope her hazy memories were not met with shaming, accusations of lying, and gaslighting.

I wish I could wrap my brain around why a woman would continue to willfully provide child after child to this monster. 7 of them at current count. Let them sit on his lap. Let him tuck them in at night. She knew about his history of child rape when she married him. What on God's green earth is that about???

She probably didn't actually. Her family was likely told a very sanitized version of what happened. When the past molestation information came out, Anna's statement was that she knew that he had stumbled as a teen before she married him but I truly doubt that she knew exactly what happened. Look at what Jim Bob and Michelle said on the Megyn Kelly interview and compare that to the facts. They never thought the truth would come out so they lied and downplayed it.

Also, their sect requires wives to be joyfully available to their husbands whenever the husband wants. I would not be the least bit surprised to find out that Anna has been raped although I doubt she would see it that way because they don't believe in marital rape.

I think this source is allowed (MOD, delete if not), but here is a great article by a former Quiverfull member that explains a lot around the mindset of Mrs. Holt, Anna, and other women within the sect. Inside the Quiverfull Community That Made Josh Duggar

I’m not sure why ineffective assistance of counsel keeps coming up. There’s no basis for it. None. Defense has made every expected motion & argument. The motions are well-researched and well-written. Their tech expert delivered some good sound bites. Their arguments insert as much reasonable doubt as possible. Defense is doing a nice job, given the facts of the case. Is this a stellar witness? Of course not. But “stellar” is not the standard.

If there is an appeal, it will be due to inclusion of molestation testimony.

JMO.

You're right. Nothing to suggest ineffective assistance. These are experienced, successful defense attorneys and there is no indication they have made mistakes in this case.

However, there will be no successful appeal due to the inclusion of the child molestation allegations because it is written into federal law, as we have discovered, that’s such acts may be considered when determining the defendant’s propensity to access child sexual abuse materials.

Yeah, though I'd prefer we get away from the entire "sexual abuse" pussyfooting and call it what it is - child rape. CSAM is a start, but Child Rape Material (CRM) is exactly what it is and what it should be called. imo

Not all of it is though. Emotions can not control legal definitions. Some of those materials do not show child rape. But they are still obviously illegal.

I imagine your outlook on that might change if you found out your 12 year old son was regularly sexually assaulting your 5-9 year old daughters, to include inserting his fingers in their vaginas while they were seated in his lap.

It's probably a good idea at that point to keep tabs on what he's doing on the internet, before the feds show up at your house with a warrant because he's downloading CRM.

Except that didn’t work here.

With the exception of Derik Dillard, I firmly believe each one of the family who attended did so to support Josh. IMO, they see this as a spiritual attack against a righteous family. And even if some of them, like Joy, believe the allegations could be true, I believe they are pressured to show family solidarity and support.

The purse strings have been tightly controlled by JB. All the monies for the show went to him, instead of to his adult kids, per Derik Dillard, which seems illegal.

In any event, there is cultural pressure to show a united front and to fight against Satanic forces that seek to topple the family (IMO).

Here’s an article with the police report for any who may want to review.
