She probably didn't actually. Her family was likely told a very sanitized version of what happened. When the past molestation information came out, Anna's statement was that she knew that he had stumbled as a teen before she married him but I truly doubt that she knew exactly what happened. Look at what Jim Bob and Michelle said on the Megyn Kelly interview and compare that to the facts. They never thought the truth would come out so they lied and downplayed it.

Also, their sect requires wives to be joyfully available to their husbands whenever the husband wants. I would not be the least bit surprised to find out that Anna has been raped although I doubt she would see it that way because they don't believe in marital rape.

With the exception of Derik Dillard, I firmly believe each one of the family who attended did so to support Josh. IMO, they see this as a spiritual attack against a righteous family. And even if some of them, like Joy, believe the allegations could be true, I believe they are pressured to show family solidarity and support.

The purse strings have been tightly controlled by JB. All the monies for the show went to him, instead of to his adult kids, per Derik Dillard, which seems illegal.

In any event, there is cultural pressure to show a united front and to fight against Satanic forces that seek to topple the family (IMO).

The recent pics of Joy-Anna and her husband Austin clearly IMO paint a portrait of a couple who look physically and emotionally exhausted and like they are struggling.

Yes. But I agree she was told a sanitized version. The same version the Duggar parents told in an interview. (It was touching over the clothes only and the girls were asleep and unaware). Which does not match the police report.

I couldn't follow the redacted report well enough to discern who told, since it seems Josh was reading to more than one child and ages weren't listed. I thought the additional details on what Josh did during the bible time incident and that it was to a 5-year old, only came out in Bobye's testimony. I could be mistaken.

Anyways, my point was that it's probably been a lot for Joy to go through and she may have learned things about herself that she didn't know the whole truth on, or had been told when she questioned things to forgive and forget. Just MOO.

I have worked with large families, and literally had a huge chart to determine the relationships, with each family member having a separate sheet, identifying the relationship to each of the other people in the family.

Families are interesting, if you think about each person in the family like a "toy" on a mobile above a baby's bed, when one person in the family has a problem, think of what happens to every "toy" on the mobile when one toy is yanked. All of the toys start to move. The dynamic of what happens to one, affects every single part of the mobile or family.

Nope. Even "healthy" families can have problems in the dynamics. This family, more so than others, just because it is so large.

Josh may have little to no relationship with his youngest sisters, but the affects of his court situation impacts his mother and father, and they may have internal strife/reactions that will affect their interactions with those siblings.

IMO---it's not just one family member and his effect on the rest.

That may have been the case if this horrific CSAM situation was the only time Josh was involved in child abuse, but as it is a fact that he molested four younger sisters, there were already five members directly impacted in this family. One abuser and four victims. I think that mobile would be spinning like a cyclone.

James Fottrell with the Department of Justice testified that there was significant evidence to prove Duggar was at his Springdale business, Wholesale Motorcars, every time child was downloaded onto an HP computer in his office.

Fottrell used "EXIF" data, like geolocation and time stamps from cellphone pictures and text messages, to link Duggar to his car lot around the same time the illegal files were downloaded.

A former employee testified he had access to the HP office computer but said he did not recall the password.

Fottrell testified that although it is possible the content was downloaded remotely, it is "highly unlikely" that was the case.

Defense Witness
The defense called Michele Bush, a private digital forensics expert, to the stand.

Bush testified that the HP computer at Duggar's business had a separate operating system installed and that is where the files of child were found.

She testified that she believes the videos and images of child were all viewed remotely after evidence she said revealed universal plug-and-play was enabled on the WiFi at Duggar's work.

"It means the network was extremely vulnerable," she testified. "It allows someone to gain control of the entire network and essentially the devices connected to it."

Bush said that if Duggar's Wi-Fi router had been seized as evidence, she could have used it to see which devices were accessing the network when the images were downloaded. But because it was not seized, she cannot know.

She also testified that Duggar’s personal devices, including his laptop and his phone, did not have any evidence of child .

Thank you for this article - I think one big problem with the argument below, is that Josh has the WiFi router - so why didn't the defense use that as evidence? How can she say "she cannot know" if she could just have asked the client for the router?

I've followed this thread since day one. I can't believe that Josh may finally be held accountable. Like everyone I think that there is really only one way for his kids to be safe going forward. If there are steel bars between him and those children.

I'm also glad this was brought in federal court - there are so many ways a state court criminal proceeding can be compromised. One example is that federal judges are appointed for life. They aren't voted in or appointed for a term which leaves them free to make "unpopular" decisions. I'm grateful for the professionalism of this judge. The same with federal prosecutors - unlike DAs, they aren't elected by constituents.
